Have to admire a company that continues to make the same mistakes over and over when it comes to development of their product.
I do wonder though, do they actually expect a different outcome each time or just accept - Everything they have done is targeted to a specific minority of the player base, excluding the majority.

    - You can enter the event via the Mercenary Wargame window in the game client.
..Just don't be that guy who enters the "event" after it has started and is on a wave where the enemy is dropped into your map. It is a bit of a worry that Devs haven't done anything about players entering and leaving the event map when they choose as it gives the wrong type of player a huge advantage and easier access the the best rewards.

    - In the MWG event, you will be assigned to a team, either red or blue.
..They aren't really "teams', more just a bunch of random players dumped into a map together to fend for themselves. If you don't like the "team" you have been put with - Just leave the map via the portal and try again. Eventually you should get dropped into the right "group" with your friends.

    - After your team has completed 11 waves, the best players from your team will go on an invasion into the enemy team's map.
..Not sure how this is calculated as some players on a team may have not have completed the requisite number of "waves' to be "eligible" (or forced in the case of defenders) to compete in the "invasion".
    * Not sure if this is just a poor translation or just badly worded but - As the requirement is for "a team" to complete 11 waves of NPC's initially to "go on an invasion" and the instance needs 2 teams to begin - Do both teams have the top NPC killers sent or is it just randomly members of one team?

    - The 'best players' are designated as the player who earned the most points from NPC kills in the last 10 waves.
..So, this is interesting - If every member of a "team" enters and leaves randomly (by design this is possible) a player who has just entered and killed 2 or 3 NPC's may get sent to the enemy map simply due to timing.. Or worse still, a player may enter an instance and straight away be killed by enemy players before even starting the instance.
For clarification - If one team has 30 members and the other only 5, how many from each team will get to do the invasion. How is it selected? Say the team of 30 has 10 players who all killed the same amount of NPC's and the smaller team only has 2 members who killed more than the rest, what happens? Just seems a little unbalanced (by design?) if those from a team of 30 could have less than 5 opponents since the top rewards are based on individual performance (who can kill the most enemy).

    - During the invasion, your aim is to kill as many of the enemy players as possible. If you die you will be transported back to your team's map. The invasion lasts a maximum of 5 minutes - or when all invaders lose their life.
.. Again, during the invasion is when a player earns the top rewards - What happens if there is only the minimum amount on one team and the maximum on the other? Would seem those on the larger team are severely disadvantaged. Rewards aren't shared so helping a "team mate" kill an enemy, you are just giving some random guy points. Due to this it is likely 2 or 3 players could dominate this event for hours at a time. If this happens all you have is another TDM, which nobody does.

This event so far with the limited information available is looking like it was designed for the same group/s of players that dominate every other event. Which sadly shows it is for a select few, to the exclusion of the rest of the player base.

Like most events, this one too only caters for "some" players due to the limited and fixed times it is to be run - The game AND most individual servers have players from all over the world, yet this event like most only caters for those who's online time matches "local server time". EG, Tuesday 1700 "local server time" is Wednesday 7AM for me.

The event hasn't even started yet, but lol it looks like a big old FAIL before it starts. Like usual. DO doesn't read the forums, apparently, it's just a few of us players that care about the game wasting each others time. If you choose to fly this event, good luck.

Ocker, your post needs a TL;DR section my friend :)

  3. Another thing is i see they put a timeline on the event again also so i guess you play Do and you work in those time slots to bad for you lol.
Also last time they had an event like this i bought the boosters for the event only to lag out so many times the first day i didn't get any rewards so basically just gave DO some money and said here you go no that's alright i don't want anything for it you keep it.
Let the botters have the events i am getting tired of them saving millions of uri by botting and only spending minor amounts on these boosters for the event's while i stay legit either buy my uridium or earn it and on top of that they hope i buy boosters for the event also? I will do that when they start making botters pay for their own uri.
How come this part is in Sgt~Ocker post when i posted this?

  4. I agree with all of this. Once again a disgusting pointless event designed to make UFEs much stronger and gain much more honour points because the ranking system in this game isn't already ridiculous apparently.

My biggest issue with it is that people are joining and leaving, but when i played I got dropped into a map with like 8 enemies and the one I was shooting ran away so I was dead no matter what so I just saved my EMPs and ISHes. I don't understand how this is fair.

If it had a queue time and was like a team deathmatch system it would probably be very good, but instead it's just like playing with random war targets for 15 minutes then instantly dying and getting 400,000 honour points for it.

And yes, you basically just have to fend for yourself. I spent most my time in the map helping newbie ships because no one else was.

Well done Bigpoint, another pointless event that doesn't develop or save anything redeeming about this game at all.

  5. Thing is it even says the event is for medium to top players so if your not in this category then don't even worry about it.

  6. Wow is the forums going the way of the game or what first my post is put in a different players post then i reply to a post but get 2 posts?

Medium players entering this event will only be there as fodder for invaders.

And really what is a "top player"? On the main server i play it is the same 5 or 6 players (all from the same group) who bot all day and play for a few hours at night - They have more uri, sep, X4, RSB etc than many of us can imagine.
So going by that, this event on my server was put in place to cater for even less than a minority of the overall player base.

NB; The 1700 local server time seems to be a bit messed up - it is currently 16.25 LST (06.25 for me) on my server and the event has been running for half an hour. So even less opportunity for for players to participate - Even those who live in the "right" TZ have lost time unless they are unemployed or school kids who get home early enough..
Comeon DO, if you say something is LST, Get it right.

Yes i got up to have a look at how it would be on the live server.,. Didn't expect it to start an hour earlier than stated though..

  8. Actually i will say something about this event, and that is it was the biggest disappointment i ever had. Jump in for the first time to be attacked 5v1 before i even knew i was jumped in. Then guess what i get put with the same clan that just killed me so when there members come to the maps they are protected. So i spent maybe 30 min there my rewards very little x4 and a whole lot of rank. So that's where we are with DO know we pay to play so we can gain rank right? well no it's not right i spend money i play every min my account is on but these botters have taken everything from the legit players and truthfully i am sick of it. So now all the events and missions are only gonna give rank. Anyways i just wanted to say i am finished with the game for a while, when my account doesn't work support says it's my p.c. or browser or something. I have been fighting with them a few times about my accounts not working right and each time i get insulted by support 400 ice rockets shot and 0 ships froze so i start to take videos all the sudden my rockets start to work again.

I think the game is broke and they are laughing at the players spending money when the botters work for free so i am leaving and DO will not see my moneys again. So cheers to all the players i know hope they change the game for the better and maybe one day i will come back but for now my 13 ggs waiting in 1-1 and my 2 mil uri and all my ammo are logging off. Bye all

Well I gave it a try just because most of my clan were doing it - Accrued 3,500 score, got kicked out of the instance back to 3-1 (I didn't die, just got moved to 3-1) - NO REWARDS.

Well done DO, another totally broken event..

  10. lol you got no rewards? that's sad because it's probably only you but the rewards aren't good so it doesn't matter anyways.

  11. I'm in the top 40 with over 50 of every single laser in the game, I think my opinion is quite justified, read my post again.

I'm impressed really - It took members of "those few clans" 2 days to work out how to manipulate the event so they were on the same "team".
Jump in, check contacts, leave - repeat until you get the "team" you want and the "event" is theirs for the farming.

As for the event itself - As expected a pure lag fest that broke aspects of the game outside the event as well as in it (aegis, hammerclaw)
The PVP part, is just laughable - You get killed by one clan that has "teamed up" while their 'friends" on your team don't die.
Not sure how the 5 to 30 members part was "supposed" to work but I and several friends have found ourselves dumped in an instance "alone" only to be insta popped by the multitude of NPC's that sit around the entry point.
The "point" system is just a little better than "totally broken" - On the few occasions I did manage to get first lock on an invader and kill them i received no points for it. After leaving an instance and claiming the rewards, rejoining often left me with the same "points" showing and no further points were added as i killed NPC's.

Hint for Devs - Unless the plan is to continue staging events designed specifically for the minority on each server - Think about how easily the event can be manipulated to be done in ways other than how you intend.

DO management and Development team over and over again continue to show just how little they know about the game they run.
It really is sad when you are in TS or Discord talking about the game and all you hear is - What did you expect, "this is DarkOrbit".

  13. I went in a few times and encountered AI ships shooting aliens. It was funny we had clan members trying to get in and couldnt. They sat in queue for most of the event. I got sent into a map with 3 players and a horde of uber bks. Good times.

Seriously you need to work on the AI players. They sit in drill for hours shooting the NPCs. Same players all day long.

  14. If you want to worry about being involved in one of the worst events i have ever seen in DO spend your ammo and money to make rank points all the power to you. There is nothing worth going for in this event but rank so why bother unless you run a bot your not gonna keep up with rank it's not worth it.
The events are controlled by clans that manipulate weather they choose to help you or not so if an enemy comes to your map and it's a clan member to the group you have in your map that clan can just choose not to help you and keep letting their clan members kill you great event must have thought this one up over a morning coffee.

  15. Why did you quote me? I really don't understand how this opinion has anything to do with me but I agree with you.

  16. My favorite part of the event is the fact that the only rewards it gives out are EP and Honor.

Its almost like I was right when I said Darkorbit's cash crop is rank now and they don't care about the players or PVP anymore....
