i came to notice, that both tv series, somehow, share the base idea of the dark orbit universe for one thing:
Star Trek and it's aliens, all of random types, and stargate atlantis, for the portalization technology created by ancient egyptian and other cultures.

however the game takes some bits out of the star wars series, i.e. the green lasers, which may loosely inspire the jedi swords, or the blue, for the empire...same for red and other laser colors,
and many other reference to certain series and movies.

according to you, which series or movie saga, is closely inspired, to the darkorbit universe or remotely inspired for the alien creatures and so on?

ps. lordakia are technically space octopuses...

  2. Although two things may share similar properties, it doesn't necessarily mean that one is inspired by the other. You're trying to find a connection that just doesn't exist.

There is little evidence that Dark Orbit has any similarities to Star Wars, Star Trek, or Stargate Atlantis, other than that all four happen to be based in outer-space.

please post your ideas and resonance of what inspires you to play dark orbit, and which connections you may find to other galactic stories...expand your minds, folks!

  4. It's like saying League of Legends copied Dota 2 just because the games are similar. But in this case, DarkOrbit might have gotten ideas from Stargate but now it's a different game completely.

  7. Having played since 2007 and being a sci-fi geek, I have noticed that many ships/npcs bear resemblance to (maybe inspired by is a better) various ships from the sci-fi universe including Star Trek and Star Wars. And that's fine. It's an homage to these things. And I remember some chatter at some point in the DO past about copyright infringement over some of the designs.
