Translation Error Report Thread

Hello Space Pilots,

Here is the thread where you can post your report. Please be sure to include all three items below:

1. The wrong word/sentence and your suggested correction
2. How we can find it in the game (in which item/map/menu it is located)
3. A screenshot of the issue (please post a link to an online screenshot like Imgur, Gyazo or similar)

Please limit your post to the following localizations within DO:

• English
• Dutch
• Greek
• Scandanavia (Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, or Finnish)

All other localizations will have a similar post in their respective language forum.

Once you have made your post, the report will be confirmed and your post will be updated to let you know (or you will be informed of why it was not confirmed).

As a reminder, this starts on Tuesday, September 8 and ends Sunday, September 27.

In UK English it should be "Honour" not Honor, I think it hurts everyones eyes when they see this.

US English is the source language, and it's the only one in the game. There isn't an UK version, even if you can select it at the login page. Thus "Honor" is correct, sorry.

(The suggestion to make more Country designs has been suggested many times, including Danish.)

 

Then what is the point of having it at the login page ? It's used for changing the language in the game. All other languages do take effect, so should UK English.

When someone activates the Weaken-Shield effect on NPCs and you are nearby, the following message is printed in the log:
'Din modstander har aktiveret Weaken-Shields effekten. Dit skjold er svækket.'

There are lots of grammatical errors in this sentence - first of all, even if it is your ally that uses the Weaken-Shield effect, it will still say 'Din modstander', which is directly translated to 'Your opponent', making it a very wrong and weird wording in Danish.

Second, it says that 'Dit skjold er svækket', which means 'Your shield is weakened', even though it is the NPC's shield that is actually being weakened by the Diminisher effect.

Suggested correction: Since there is such a error on the foundation of the sentence when it is translated to Danish, I suggest making a whole new print in the log, which covers the allies use of effects on NPCs, something along the line of 'Your ally used <effect>, <npcname>'s shield has been <effects affection>'. Otherwise there will forever be errors in the sentence. Another great idea could be to make it say '<playername> used <effect>, <npcname>'s shield has been <effect's affection>. That would remove a lot of confusion and just make it more correct in probably many different languages that has the same kind of errors.​

When you get disconnected from the server, the log will print out 'Forbindelsen til serveren ble brutt.'
'Forbindelsen til serveren ble brutt' is not Danish, that is either Swedish or Norwegian.

Suggested correction: 'Forbindelsen til serveren blev afbrudt'.​

When you get disconnected from the server, you get a 'New connection' window, where there are errors in the message you receive upon disconnection.

The text first says 'Du er ikke længere forbundet til DarkOrbit game server. Ønsker du at genoprette forbindelsen?'
That sentence misses an important letter after 'DarkOrbit', without that, it doesn't make sense in Danish.

Also, 'game server' is not Danish, that is straight English printed into the middle of a Danish message, which again creates confusion and nonsense in the message.

Suggested correction: 'Du er ikke længere forbundet til DarkOrbit's spil server. Ønsker du at genoprette forbindelsen?'​

When you hover your mouse over the little 'arrow icon' in the chat, you get this message in a black box:
'Kobler til chatserver på nytt. Dette sletter også chathistorikk!'

Again, this sounds more Swedish or Norwegian than Danish.

Suggested correction: 'Genopretter forbindelsen til chatten. Dette sletter også din chathistorik!'​

When you are switching server, the message in the top has multiple errors in the grammar:

Vælg den server, du gerne vil spille på. De servere, hvor du allerede har en bruger, er fremhævet. Alternativt, Alternativt kan du også spille på andre servere, hvis du klikke på den dertil hørende Start-Knappe.

Suggested correction: "Vælg den server, du gerne vil spille på. De servere, hvor du allerede har en bruger, er fremhævet. Alternativt kan du også spille på andre servere, hvis du klikker på den dertilhørende startknap."

This isn't necessarily a grammar error but I still think it should be changed:
In rinusk's, blacklight trace's and mindfire cerebrum description in hangar Impulse II, Attend IX, and mindfire behemoth are translated to Finnish which doesn't seem right as Aliens have the same name in-game in all languages and the translated names make no sense
