  1. I recently came back to the game and downloaded the client. After logging in to the game it feels shaky/jittery/glitchy when I try doing anything from shooting an npc to even just flying my ship.
My pc has above the minimum specs to run the game as listed on the DO client installation page.
Any ideas or can I just not play?

  2. My machine is listed also, but when i try to play full high quality, its just like that. i just play it " low " adjustment, and its playable without fancy thing all over the screen... if doesn't care much of it. My comp is old like myself. Otherways put the boots on, and go shopping. I notice that even computer fit on that minimum specs, it should be few step better than that, to play it full adjustment without lag or twitching. Try, and have a good gaming moments.

Yeah, it doesn't even mention CPU or (i)GPU, I'd imagine plenty of computers would have a bad experience that it says meets "Recommended system". (4GB ram bit also at least sounds dubious to me, well def for Windows 10/11. Windows 7 at least also same thoughts, since know lots of programs stopped support for that) >.>

I don't know personally how "low spec" or not can be and still have "decent" gameplay experience, but probably would be helpful knowing what CPU etc(PC specs) have and maybe someone can say if something sounds wrong or not. (unless already know)

Though making sure don't have excessive programs running or stuff hogging PC resources is a good step either way(to improve performance).

  4. I have tried playing with computers from 2006 or so and even they can run the game ''tolerably'' around 30fps.

On old Darkorbit CD I got from 2010 the system requirements are following:

    -Windows 98/2000/XP/Vista/7
    -Pentium 3 1,6 Ghz
-minimum 512 MB ram, recommended 768 MB
-graftic card minimum 16MB, recommended 32MB

These of course wont work anymore but if you want a good performance in 2D pretty much all you need is a processor with high clock cpu and 8-16gb of ram. I got intel i5-2500k 3,8Ghz from like 2011 and 16bg of ram and running 60fps all the time.

But in cmclusion if your windows can run windows 7,8,10 or 11 it should be able to run darkorbit as well.

  5. The client is hardcoded to OpenGL (OGL) which is very CPU reliant, the Devs or whoever maintains the client won't change nor give the option to enable D3D availability, Direct3D will do alot better in terms of utilizing a system's capabilities, but what do I/We know, I/We are just players. The platform (Qt) they use for the client has the ability to use Angle/Direct3D with Chromium (Which the client uses), but they won't enable it because, quote, "OpenGL is more universal", if someone owns a PC now which doesn't support D3D, then wow.
