CLIENT FOR WINDOWS does not work for me.

Hello. When I download the client for Windows and run it, it closes. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times but it still doesn't work. Any way to fix this?

 

Some who have AMD GPU had this problem until they updated it. May be a video card problem. Do you have a laptop or Desktop?

 

i had this issue when i first started, i found that when i accepted all cookies it loaded the client fine but when i had declined all cookies, i had the issue of it closing a few seconds after loading it up

 

have a laptop, but the funny thing is that I tried downloading it on my Desktop and I have the same problem

what graphics card do you have also have you tried up top on DO where it says settings Clear Cache? Not pc cache but cache for DO

 

he wont be able to get that as the client wont download m8. i think anyway without trying to replicate it at my end .

 

Only thing I can think of is find the files for DO on his pc and delete them and try again. A reddit post stated an update to an AMD GPU was causing this same problem. When the person uninstalled the update it worked. All I got. If you have an AMD GPU this link is from Dark ORBIT. This is from DO forums

For those of you using AMD GPU's, and unable to load the game client on your current graphics driver, there is a potential solution for you to try and use to be able to play again by using a parameter flag in the game's shortcut.

Note: This flag will disable the 3d mode for the client, and force it to run in 2d mode.

Right click the game shortcut, then click "Properties"
Look for the "Destination" or "Target" fields. It will have an entry similar to "C:\Users\<user>\Dark Orbit\DarkOrbit.exe".

Add the following to the end of this text field: "--disable-gpu". It should now look like "C:\Users\<user>\Dark Orbit\DarkOrbit.exe" "--disable-gpu"

Click "Ok" at the bottom to save.

Try and open the game client now, if the flag was set correctly, the client should open without crashing.

 

If you're using AMD Adrenalin Edition, you might have to install version 22.5.1 as the newer driver in 23.12.1 , for me, causes the same problem. you can get it here: [REMOVED]
