  1. so... the unity server is out. what does that mean? is it just a new server with seemingly better graphics and a different UI, or is there any other meaningful changes? should I stop playing my other server and build up a ship here? is it worth it?

  2. on top of that, instead of making all the severs currently existing on unity, they want all of us to migrate to 1 server and start all over ? yall gotta be kidding, imma just quit.

that will be the end of the game, i myself will stop playing at that point in time. Starting over is a no starter for me. i should add that all who agee with this statement, should post something telling them most are the same page.

  4. the game is dead, but i thought this whole unity stuff was 'important' because every time i logged on to the game people were talking about unity and how it can fix the game if it is introduced. Well, that new server came out yesterday (found out its a pve server a bit late), and nobody seems to care. I would have thought there would be multiple threads about it on here and yet I'm the only post.

  5. Yep. Seems like junk to me. Try downloading and starting it up.... It still insists that I have not downloaded it, even after 2 successful tries.

So after all these years waiting for a better client than the obsolete flash one we are supposed to start afresh with a new account on unity?
No thanks. Either transfer the accounts I've been playing to that client or it's goodbye from me.

  7. yeah i dont foresee anyone wanting to start over on a pve server , yall tripping, it shows that yall don't ever listen to the players. no wonder everyone cheats. even when we wait for 10 years you still screw us over. byebye bigpoint, forever this time.

Seems it's just a new PvE server, that for now is the only server on Unity...

It would be rediculous if it wasn't just that, since ye I also have no interest in starting all over again either/nor a PvE server. But at moment I'd bet they just had oversight in making that clear, which should of instead of letting people come to own conclusions.

Though guess they could try seeing how it goes, if it wasn't just this. >.>

  9. i agree, i will have to quit i spent so money and time on this game over the many many years, ill leave

  10. I can't even figure out how to find the Unity server if I wanted to try it

  11. I should imagine they'll transfer over the rest of the servers once they've gotten (cash wise) out of the launch from the suckers of their pretty new thing...

  12. I can't even figure out how to download the new Unity server even on the site am I missing something or when you hit download now does it just ldownload that new server so confused

just keeps telling me to download the file when using my existing account . so i tried to register new account for it and downloads a zip file ,,it wont let me register once ive extracted the files LMAO

  15. Yes, I would have expected the file extraction to put the files in the same directory as the regular DO files.
That way the selection panel would be able to go to that account.
The blue link will download the file, it will be in the download directory, unzipping the files will not put it in the regular DO directory and the selection panel will not link to the download directory location.
I had to let it unzip to a sub-directory under the download directory; make a shortcut to it; then when I want to go to the Unity version, I click the shortcut I made to call Unity up.
Just use the regular account panel for the non-Unity version.
Saves taking a chance on everything getting corrupted if Unity has a catastrophic failure.

  16. Strange connection attempt(s) to the UNITY server.
    Was running v1.0.9
    - The little loading window [Darkorbit Launcher] opens and shows more attempts to download (maybe some sort of update), which takes a minute or so.
    - The launcher window finally completes the download, and shows a START button.
    - Click the START button.
    - Screen goes black
    - - then there is a smaller window/image given that is white,
    - - - with another smaller black square that has the familiar Dark Orbit reloaded text;
    - - - - but also shows in the upper left corner of that image an even smaller, red square with a white exclamation mark.
    - Then the entire UNITY screen disappears

The only things that can happen then, is either try the loading again (which just repeats the above action/response; or go do something else like load up the original non-UNITY game and enter a forums text about it, because there is no other problem reporting for UNITY.

  17. It downloads it to the directory you use for downloads (usually it is just 'DOWNLOADS' but some people may rename it. Once it is downloaded you can extract the files right there in that download directory, or, extract to your 'Dark Orbit' directory.
Personally, I use a separate sub-directory under the regular Download directory; mainly because if it blows up for some reason, the regular Dark Orbit should still work. :D
