  1. Hey Space Pilots,

Recently we were made aware of some irregularities in the results of the Scoremageddon event. Upon further investigation we had to exclude a larger number of users from the list as they were engaged in activities that were unfair to other participants. Until such time as we can ensure fairness to all players in the game we will be suspending Scoremageddon events indefinitely.

    Regards

    Your DarkOrbit Team

So this tells me that Bigpoint have suspended scormageddon because they are unsure of the event and are un-able to police the event.

In that case aren't all those who were banned entitled to have their accounts reinstated.

Otherwise why would bigpoint remove the event?

Have confidence in your banning detection system guys or give accounts back minus all rewards they received during that event.

You have to remember, your game is becoming boring and out dated, thus servers are becoming quieter and quieter thus people are killing the same people over and over thus your pushing rule is invalid.

    Kind regards

  2. I totally agree with NoMercy here. The Servers, especially GB2 is becoming very lonely, especially during events such as Scoremaggedon.

There are several unanswered questions about the recent flock of bans which has caused confusion and frustration after the response from Support.

The pushing rule needs to be updated and so does the anti-pushing system during event (such as long invincibility). Some people are being told they're killing people too quickly in Scoremaggedon, an event to kill quickly for bonus multiplier and race up the leaderboard. It's clearly not fair if they get banned because of certain situations.

I was also told that if you're the person being killed too quickly, you will also get banned because it would seem that you're giving your hearts away. Now that is pretty ridiculous and going to cause a lot of false positives.

From experience: I have played in Scoremageddon several times and have enjoyed it in the past. On GB2 specifically, during Scoremageddon players tend to act differently than when the event is not on. As you’re aware, players have 5 lives and need to keep at least one to remain in the event. Now there are at least several types of players which I’m sure you can agree with me (possibly more):

    1. Those that want to play the event and will keep their hearts for as long as they can.

    2. Those that don’t want to play the event but don’t want to be popped ingame.

    3. Those that don’t care about the event but continue to quest/hunt regardless.

    4. Those that want rid of their hearts quickly.

    5. Those that will duel/battle those with other hearts in their own competition(i.e. 1v1 to the end of their event).
It would seem that some of these scenarios would get you banned for 7 days, lose your event rewards, a reduction in EP AND HONOR. Which I must completely disagree being a fair punishment regardless of being guilty or not. EP and Honor has nothing to do with Scoremageddon and 30% is a huge number. If two people get the ban and punishment but are miles apart with EP and Honor then one will be more heavily punished than the other even though they did the same thing. How ridiculous is that?

Can you please tell me whether these (below) are NOT legitimate reasons for gaining points quickly during Scoremageddon:

    1. (taken from option 3 above) popping players that know they cannot compete with the top players and just respawn on the spot and try to continue questing.

    2. (taken from option 4 above) popping players that just sit in the middle of the map and get killed until their hearts are gone to stop getting popped by other players wanting only hearts to compete in Scoremageddon.

    3. (taken from option 5 above) players willing to have fun and sacrifice their hearts in a ‘who is better’ 1v1.

    4. Popping players that are in BMS (4-4 map, etc) but keep respawning and cannot jump due to combat.
Again, there is an anti-pushing system in place where players will receive decreased rewards for killing the same player several times (which is why I can’t understand the EP and Honor deduction). There is also a system in place where a player gets an invulnerable period of safety after respawn. So, if I killed a player during Scoremageddon within map 4-4 (BMS) and steal 1 of 5 hearts, that player may choose to respawn in the same place, at the nearest port or back at base. If the player chooses 1 of the first 2 options, I have the choice to pop them again after their invulnerable period expires and with low health. Once I shoot the player, they cannot leave 4-4 (example map) therefore I’m likely to win and get another heart, quite quickly. There are several maps that don’t allow players to jump port to another map if they’re being attacked (4-1, 4-2, 4-3) and some maps you can’t jump through certain ports (5-1 back down, 5-2 back to 5-1, 5-3 back to 5-2). The method above DOES happen yet the attacker is going to get banned because the game allows this. I don’t believe you can blame the attacker in several scenarios if the player that has died makes poor choices. There are reasons for their poor choices such as being young and not understanding, or very optimistic of getting away, to name a few.

I also think that within a log you may see player X pop player Y several times in a short space of time. This can be overlooked and deemed false-positive in certain scenarios such as CBS defending. If I took the first shot on a persistent attacker constantly respawning and my clan mates helped pop them quickly, you couldn’t tell via the log what was happening. Meaning I could get banned for ‘pushing’ if this was happening constantly, especially during an event such as Scoremageddon.

Dark Orbit is a PvP game and Scoremageddon is an event for PvP where players pop others for their hearts to gain points and move up the scoreboard. During the event, you would expect players to try and pop anyone they can for points, it’s should be a mass brawl but apparently this cannot happen due to the reason people have been banned. It’s frustrating to watch so many people sit on port and not compete while some others don’t care and sit in non-dmz zone with hearts. Are we expected to pop them once and then wait a certain amount of time or completely avoid them fearing a ban? The point of a multipier is to get as many kills quickly for added bonus or risk missing out. I understand what pushing is and why it’s in place and I’m totally for that but I genuinely think Bigpoint have got this wrong.

Pilots banned lose rewards achieve in Scoremagedon and on top of that, have been banned for 7 days whilst also having 30% deduction from their EP AND Honor.

I understand the reason for losing the rewards in a legitimate case but to be banned without notice (via email possibly) and have two extra punishments, I think is a bit harsh (innocent until factually proven guilty?). I respect Bigpoint’s rules and control of the game but pilots will feel a little hard done by, especially when they lose 30% EP AND Honor. It discriminates long term hard working players from the lesser term players. Pilots will have built up honor and experience and now are set to lose much more than say someone with half their honor and experience for possible the same thing. I don’t understand how that is fitting on a generic level, please can you explain?

It has been mentioned that Scoremageddon will now be gone. Bigpoint seems to be punishing all players because of a flaw in the system. I was told from a response how I should be killing people and not killing people ingame. I was also told that if I were to be killed, I need to respawn back to port or base. So now it seems we cannot play the game our way? The response was to sit at port or base until the event is done... THREE HOURS OF WAITING? Come on...

Surely those that were banned need to have their accounts back along with the EP and Honor since the event no longer exists and there is clearly a problem.

I hope Bigpoint can be reasonable about this whole situation for everyone, including those that were banned.

  3. One simple solution to the whole pushing during scorme? Respawn the dead player on a random map of their company at a demil zone

  4. So it took you a few minutes to think of that new feature for Scoremaggedon which seems like a good idea? :)

In seriousness, this is a problem and removing the event is not a solution. Something needs to be done about this.

  5. Theres many options to stop pushing during an event like this yet bigpoint dont implement them, therefore we the players are punished for their incompitence.

You cant expect players to be allowed to pop the same kind of players day in day out upto 7 days a week and then expect us to play differently during an event without you (bigpoint) stopping us from playing the way we are used to.

  6. I feel the same about the events NoMercy. It hasn't been thought through properly and kept up with the times. Things change and as you've mentioned, the game hasn't.

We need to be protected, not led into entrapment. I always feel like I'm fighting against support rather than getting help from them. I rarely get all my questions answered and sometimes it feels like my emails haven't been read.

Another option for Scoremaggedon could be changing the way multiplier works. It could multiply for each different pilot you've killed and you lose some bonus killing the same pilot. That way it encourages pilots to chase newer people and not hound the only person they find off port.

  7. Or... Keep scormageddon to upper maps only for those who can get to uppers and lowers for those who cannot get out of lowers. But keep PVP maps free for all.

Come on Bigpoint, we've got ideas coming from our arses, employ us or use our ideas.

(edit) All ideas from me or grimreaper are copyright so any ideas of ours that are used we will demand 2% each from all bigpoint profits :p (jokes) please dont ban lol

  8. Hello all, completely agree with no mercy and Grim. Also why not use a registration system as you do for JPA but on a shorter scale. E.g. have a participation button pop up 15 mins before the event starts on both front and back pages. This will enable the access to your hearts if you agree to participate. If you decline as to being otherwise engaged in quests or cubes for example, you do not recieve any hearts and do not become targeted which also gives a knock on effect in regards to non pushing.

    Hello,

Pushing of any kind has never been permitted, and this has always included various forms of it. Regardless of the reasons, it is against the rules and always has been, and until support decides differently those found to be doing so will face the penalties if caught. This is especially true in events, and in this case I am sorry if you dont agree but two wrongs do not make a right. Could the event be handled differently or be adjusted to be better, of course. But this does not give anyone the right to abuse the event in its current state and gain the rewards for easy set up kills of ships when many players participated correctly and were beaten by players who were pushing.

In any case the event has been suspended while support looks into the event as a whole to ensure its future versions (if it returns) are fair and better managed.

If you have further questions, you can contact support, and if you have ideas for the event in the future you can of course use the update/idea thread to post them there.

Closing as this subject cannot be advanced here,

    Best Regards

    Hyp
