Alright so I'm a non-FE goliath player, 2 iris 6 flax, 7 lf3, 15 7900, and 2 B02. I started playing 5 days ago and I've put a serious amount of hours into this game. I have some very sad thoughts on how I feel about DarkOrbit.

Darkorbit is a really interesting game. Its this interesting factor that got me into the game in the first place. The way that PvP and missions are designed in this game is really disappointing.

I just started playing DarkOrbit for the first time and I'm at level 13 right now. I already don't want to do these missions. They are very repetitive and uninteresting.

One of the missions I have right now asks me to kill 15 lordakium and all I get as a reward is 255 uridium and 130000 credits. This is horrible. Beyond horrible, this is pointless. The missions at the very start of the game were so much fun because I was getting cool rewards like LF3's, BO2's and 7900's. I enjoyed doing those missions! The missions I have to do now however feel like they are all just copy and pasted from level to level. The rewards are always bad and the entire mission is me grinding a monster that hardly gives me any profit.

What just adds to the disappointment is the fact that while I am fighting these monsters I'm also constantly getting killed by other players. Seeing an enemy pop up isn't even fun at all. It might be fun it if I at least had some way I could defend myself but there isn't. These guys pop up out of nowhere and they instantly start hitting me for like 60,000 and there is nothing I can do. If I try and fight back its pointless because I hardly do any damage to them. If I try and run its pointless because they are faster than me and I can't get back to a portal because they kill me so fast. I've been killed nearly 200 times already and every time its the same thing. Enemy pops out of nowhere, starts shooting me with x4 white lazers and I'm dead within like 10 seconds. If there was at least some way for me to fight back or escape so that it was interesting and I had a chance, maybe this wouldn't be so bad. But there isn't. Out of the nearly 200 deaths that I've had, I've avoided death maybe 3-4 times. Thats awful. I understand these guys are stronger than me and they obviously should be able to kill me but getting constantly killed is so demoralizing. I understand now why they give you the 2 week of premium from one of the early quests and its because they know that without it new players will quit within days because of how often they die and have to pay uridium to repair. Its funny because I'm actually on the overwhelmingly stronger company on my server and I'm still getting killed so much.

I'm really sorry to say but I've only been playing for 5 days and I've already lost interest in this game. It starts out really fun because there is tons of progression early game but as soon as I got to the uppers the game got boring. Mission after mission all I do is grind out kills against these boring monsters that are all the same and I hardly get anything in return for my effort. I haven't put any money into this game thankfully.

I just wanted to share what my experience has been like so far with DarkOrbit. I have had a lot of fun the last few days. Its a really interesting game at the start but the enjoyment dies off very fast.

    Thanks for reading.

  2. I am sorry to hear you are leaving. I understand your reasons and feel your pain. I, as well as many others, went through your same trials. What is even worse is I have gone through these same trials on multiple servers and can tell you it does not make it easier knowing what is coming. The best advise I can actually give you if you want to try to stick it out a little while longer is to make some friends in the game that will help you out in the process. Friends made a huge difference for me in the beginning. They kept me calm, and gave me a distraction from the constant popping. I can play all day if I have some friends on with me, and will laugh the entire time even though I may have been popped 15 times that day with maybe one kill of my own. On the other hand, I may not even stay on 15 minutes if I don't know anyone that is on. This game, when starting out and playing alone, is like playing a console game for the first time on the hardest level. You start with a weak ship, with weak equipment, and with the possibility of the strongest enemies on the other side of the portal.

I would ask what server you play on. Not that it matters that much as all of the ones I play seem to do that to the noob's, but it would be nice to know what server rubbed you so wrong.

Try to stick it out at least through the premium period, but if not, good luck on your future gaming. o_O

Just leave the game mate before you start to actually spend ££$$ on it! I totally agree the missions are pathetic to say the least, would love to see the devs grind those missions solo because group rewards are beyond crap!

Despite only being around for 5 days, I think you might have a bigger impact on the game that 99% of players will have.

This is the first time I've seen a new player come into the forums and give straight up, clear feedback on why they left. The devs do browse the forums and I think feedback like this could be considered very useful, with it being well written and straight to the point.

You're definitely not alone in your concern about how useless the mission rewards are for new players beyond the tutorial. I think both players and the people who run the game know there is an issue, in last months developer blog 'newbies' were highlighted as a key point:
"Over the coming months, we’ll be making small updates to improve the newbie experience ... newbie protection, quest updates, and similar changes will naturally fall into this category of work"

So if anything your post here will reinforce their concerns and hopefully, if you feel like having a look around again, the game will be much more new player friendly in a couple of months than when you left it.

  5. I was very interested reading this and i hope the mods & dev team get in contact so you can help them!

Did you join a clan and get help? By reaching out on this server people maybe kind enough to help, let us know what server you play and people can help you.

Well I have been stating this point for 2 years, and now a new player finally proves it.

Once again the ship should not be a very hard thing to build. Hunt real players is the main enjoyment in the game, and 1 UFE hunting a few little ships is not fun, I want to get back to having 30 or 50 ships in the bmaps fighting each other to see which company is the strongest. DO needs to make building the ship a small challenge but it should cost around 500 bucks or take 6 months max to get there. The money makers in this game should be thousands of players spending 20 or 30 dollars to get ammo and booster to hunt, not a few hundred spending 100 dollars to build gates and keep their silly rank. My home server was USA East 1 and before the pet and LF4s were released it had 2 to 4 thousand players on at any given time. Now the only people playing are the DIE hard players that have nothing else to do or invested too much time and money to quite.

Making the ship easy to get would also stop much of the botting. There will always be the few trying to game the system but 90% of them are doing it because the game is too bloated and expensive.

This game needs to change from uri based system to micro transactions for boosters, designs ect. Many games have made the change and become very successful.

  8. All i have to say is DO can only protect beginners for so long then when their not protected anymore they still loose battles cause of lack of experience in pvp. The faster you make friends in the game the faster you will enjoy it. And remember there are more than just one map to play on, if your being bullied by one ship go to another map and even make friends with another company members. All companies can complete quests faster if they can find groups to help. If you make friends from other companies they might be able to help stop the attacks. Have fun

Forums has where you can read about the game. Don't forget auction for things that can protect you. Just read, do galaxy gates. You need to live by cloak. You need to focus on getting speed generators from auction. You should get a leonov or another ship to give you the speed you want. The stronger ships are usually the ships that have the slowest speed, but if you bothered about speed, get the faster. Things get way better when you read and understand the game. Also, get a pet, and you don't have to pay money for this game. Go to "cash for action" in uridium tab and if anything you can do for free or you want to buy that you were going to buy, anyway, you can get in the thousands of free uridium. You can get multiple thousands if you wait for the time that the game lets you get double or triple the amount when they do the one hour multiple uridium hour. Just take a week to relax and not play and read the game some in the FAQ index, and you can do it, man. Make sure if you keep in dark orbit, though, that you build that lab and hurry and get that pet, and get through the galaxy gates and you'll get where u want way quicker.

This game is not like playing a console game on the hardest level because your game doesn't just start over, you still have the progress you had.

Like I've said in another theme...(I feel like this is more appropriate for my words)

  13. ship repair is FREE to all. If you do stick around buy the premium offer from the home page $2.49 is well worth 1 month premium, once you have kamikaze you can use it without losing uri. To avoid so many deaths think about dragging aliens into the corners of maps. your less likely to get spotted in a corner then in the middle of the map. farming kristallon or palladium is valuable alternatives to questing ( i say kristallon cuz you should be able to easily solo those with your current equipment).

Hmm hes got a point to be honest. I'm a veteran player and to be fair if I had to play darkorbit over again without spending money I wouldn't do it because I know how hard it will be, same as you said in your post. Compare to what was before back in 2009... starting again was harder as there was no story line as its now. Dev team did good job with brand new story line and missions...

  15. I see some of your points but at the same time you haven't been playing long enough To know your way around. A school week isn't gonna make you a pro.

From what you said you're not even in a clan. Clans help a lot usually, in both physical presence and NAP's and alliances. Also monitor global chat players tend to say where they're going to hunt for little reason in particular. Also stick near ports or clan battl stations.

Then again I guess none of that matters anymore since you're not playing anymore. As for the missions or quests, the beginner ones are meant to give you a head start in a triathlon of a game. You used to get nothing, and it was a lot harder to just play, with ship repairs and whatnot, but it was a lot easier to be competitive too especially with clan support. Sadly those days are gone, but still. This isn't a game for instant gratification, unless you have thousands of dollars or a crapton of luck.

Also props to actually finding and using the forums as a newb lol. Unless you're not.

  16. i am sorry but was there something in this comment that was relevant to the OP's situation?

  18. This talk is nifty and all, but we're ignoring the 800lb Gorilla in the room.. again. The bots are back with a vengeance (usually a Spearhead they are flying). Bigpoint needs to bring a big hammer and perma ban them. NOW. I'm sick of dealing with this over and over. Give the players some ability to report abusers.. TELL US WHAT YOU WANT FOR "PROOF".. exactly what you'd like to see from us to start an investigation. Heck.. put some admins in a ship and put THEM in the map so they can see the bots for themselves. Grow a pair DO!

  19. bloateddead i have to agree with you i see players on 24/7 with this event all botting 1-2 and 1-8 maps all picking up cargo boxes, all in spearhead or vengy. Way to keep those bots away DO. And the thing is they will not ban the accounts for good like they say cause i have been playing since they banned bots last time and pretty much all the same players are still here with the same ships. So like so many say if BP knows your spending money they will give you your account back.
