  1. I would like to report yet another potential scam email by a fake Darkorbit newsletter. --

    "DarkOrbit<newsletter@news.darkorbit.com>"

    "Potential Top Gun Identified"

"…as one of our top potential pilots. Our corporation takes great care of those select few who we feel can be of great benefit.

With that in mind you have been granted access to a classified report from our R&D department advising how to increase your effectiveness even further."

Then it gives me basic techniques about Skylab, Seprom, etc.

  2. Looks like a newcomers email I got. New players need starting insight on how to play the game. That is good information and not a scam.

  3. It's a normal email from DO when you join the game on a new account.

    Hello,

This one does sound like the new account mail as suggested above, welcoming users and providing some information to help get started, and thus I'd say it sounds legit :)

Of course, always better safe than sorry^ ^ DarkOrbit will not ask you for your information, particularly account information as they do not need you to provide that

    Regards,

  5. Oh okay, the thread may be closed. The key suspicion to that email would be the change in darkorbit's email, rather than being
    "<darkorbit@newsletter.bigpoint.com>", it's the above email.

And it's good that emails like that are being sent out, too.

There's a few variations of the darkorbit address(es), although that's not always a guarantee everything is in the clear.

The last "top gun" email I have is from a year ago, so I can't guarantee it's entirely up to date as a reference, but it does offer skylab advice etc as you mentioned if that is any consolation. It doesn't offer any rewards like some of DarkOrbit's newsletters do, so if you would rather play it extra safe you can always log in as you normally would rather than clicking any links in that email.

    Hope that's of help:)

    Regards,
    -Closing as requested-
