  1. So to unlock the 100 quests we need to complete the 17500 sab quest, this can take a while to do!
So is it really fair that many many players have simply set up their bots in 5-2 and left them to complete this quest?
This is ridiculous, a shambles and a disgrace to all of us honest players.
These botters with NO effort at all are completing all of these quests whilst all of the honest players are losing their ranks!
    This is driving me MAD

So my question is should all of the 100 quests be unlocked to everyone and there be no need to do the 17500 sab quests?
As it stands it is an insult to all honest players as most simply do not have the time to do 17500 sabs yet the cheats are running their bots in 5-2 24/7 and DO does nothing!

Unlock the 100 quests for everybody of the appropriate level and at least give the honest players chance to gain their ranks back as otherwise EVERY single nice looking rank will end up on a bot!

  2. the ranks are already on bots.

  3. Yes this is a big problem for the ranks and ranking. I kill them but after a few kills you get no reward and can be considered pushing
and could result in a ban towards a honest player.
I recommend that you kill the bots when you can. If it is the same company declare a war for positive honor.
The problem is the MCC botters bot by day and hunt in person with the rewards later on.
The support sais they have scripts and programs to detect them. I tell support actually log on and play a ship and see.
No fancy scripts or detection programs are needed to simply log onto to any servers 5-2 maps.
In the X-2 maps or any lower maps the noobs have to rush to finish basic quests cause bots hit the NPC hard and there fast also.

  4. Rank is old DO. Play the game when you can. I play it to fill time basically now. Rank gives you nothing and should be removed from the back page so people do not feel so pressured.

17 500 sab. can make for 2 or 3 days if you play smart

While I totally agree, Rank in DO is obsolete - Just take a quick (or even lingering) look at ALL the recent content that has been added.
EVERYTHING is about rank and rank points.
100 missions - Pay lousy rewards [URI/credits] if you don't care about EP and Honour, don't bother doing them.
BL missions - the first 10 or so are about getting Decent rewards being the new lasers, although the URI, credit rewards suck as does the uri, credit rewards from killing the npc's [aside from the behemoth, if you have the right sized group the rewards are ok].

Once you hit level 22, if you aren't a rank chaser and or a botter there really is nothing left to do in game except become one of the [REMOVED] elitists who spend their time showing how tough they think they are by killing off new player retention, or those clans forming such overwhelmingly large alliances, there is little to no chance for their "prey" to actually play the game.

Server numbers have dropped so much due to lack of direction in the game over the years DO management had to resort to server merges to try and bring some life back to the game. Unfortunately when they did this all they really achieved was to further reduce the value of rank in the game.

Rank Points - Top 100; Top 100 is filled by Botters and or those who have been around for 10 years or more.
Is it any wonder these guys and the 99+ right behind them in the rankings get bored and want to kill the game?

Most will never admit killing the game is their goal, sadly most don't even realise this is what they are doing and to further blur the fine line between "playing the game" and striving to dominate it to the exclusion of others - DO in their wisdom introduce things like the new 10K mission, where the ONLY goal realistically is to kill the same players over and over until you hit the magic number. There would not be one server across the lot that has 10,000 active accounts (IMO there wouldn't be 10,000 active players if you combined the 3 servers i have accounts on).

So for these older established, experienced players doing this mission - What is their target group to complete 10,000 enemy kills?
Kills from clan wars don't count toward the total if the player killed is in your company, in every other way these players are enemies. They add to your overall kill count but don't count for the completion of PVP missions.
The older players have established "friendships" over the years with players from all companies and in many cases even if they aren't in the same clan they don't/won't shoot each other, which further reduces the pool of active players available to complete a mission that requires you to kill EVERY player on the server at least 3 or 4 times due to diminishing active player numbers.
Nobody sets out on a PVP venture [whether it is for a mission or not] with the intention of only fighting players that they are evenly matched with and might beat them. History clearly shows - The strong will always dominate the weak - PVP in DarkOrbit is a prime example of this in action every day, to the point there is less and less active players, every day.

I first played DO from 2011 to 2014 and only came back mid way through last year. As the server merges were done I was pleased to find many of the people i played along side before I left were still playing or had recently returned due to the server merges - Sadly I can count how many of them are still active only a few months after the merges, on one hand.

NB; I recently hit level 22 and was looking forward to getting those pesky Sabs out of the way so i could get into the new 100. I came to the forums to browse the missions in anticipation of what was to come - I could care less about honour and EP - Rank Points, it would take me years to get the rank points of the current top 10 and that is only if they all quit the game now and don't add more to their current points.
Aside from the possible rank points available from the new 100, they aren't worth doing. So for me at least, I might do the odd one here and there out of boredom but in all honesty, they offer me nothing to strive for. The only goal of the missions is rank and as the top 10 is so out of reach, why bother.,.

In a game where the primary goal is to be number one, what does the game have to offer those of us who have worked out - We will never get the opportunity to reach that goal?

  7. My entire point. People should not look at it as trying to get to number one anymore. I would not even look at it as trying to achieve any rank. Once you get past level each level is look at it as gaining the next level and doing all that levels missions. For me that is just the PVE levels. I have gained some of the epic missions for some levels that I have put on hold because they have pve in them and with my level of equipment, I don't see that as actually getting done. I could probably do them by bot chasing, but I am not really fast enough or powerful enough for those within my exp level.

Ok I get that level chasing rather than rank can be a goal, at least until you get to the point you need 10's of billions of EP to get to that next level.
I've as i said just hit level 22, I now need another 9.5 billion EP for level 23, then 20 billion on top of that for level 24. While the new missions will get me at least close to this, I'm not sure i want to spend the next X amount of months doing missions that frankly pay dismal rewards other than EP, Honour just to reach the next level of the game, only to repeat the same thing but for twice as long (double the EP needed) for the next level. The only benefit reaching level 24 gives you is access to other company BL maps - Not much of a reward for the time, cost and effort required.

I'd like to see something other than "you reached level XXX" as reward for time etc spent playing the game.

  10. Why not just play the game for entertainment? If your expecting to receive some kind of trophy or award for being the DO king or something, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. I get that some people have to prove that they are better by spending thousands of $ and all their time on a flash game, but I play for entertainment just as I did in 2009 when I first started playing this game. It is a game after all, its not a career or real life event.

If you feel you deserve more than you are getting, put in more time and $ you will get more rank points or level up faster since that seems to be what you want. But dont expect DO to just give you more free stuff because you arent willing to put in the time and effort that others have put in to it. Ever since the banning of dodge ball and the creation of participation trophies our younger generations have become more reliant on hand outs and being rewarded without earning it.

Seriously did you even read my post - Or just skim it and make up a response you thought might be appropriate?

Frankly your response in no way even goes close to addressing my post let alone being a relevant response.
    1. Entertainment has a reward component. Go to the movies - you enjoy it or hate it - You got a reward. There is nothing rewarding about grinding for months for rank or levelling up faster that has no meaning because you will never achieve anything with it.
The time and effort others have put into the game over the last 13 years is why today rank means nothing to new/er players. The last 38 players i've passed moving up the rankings have all been Basic Space Pilots (inactive accounts), It really isn't at all rewarding when the players you are outranking are all inactive.

As you have turned DO into at least a part time career, after 10 years i would think you'd be aware of the futility of rank and levelling up.

Being 60 years of age and never having played Dodgeball (it wasn't ever a thing in my country), I don't and never have asked for "handouts", I'm happy to put in effort for reward - DO just doesn't offer any.

I was at one point near top 100 now around 500th and something.
Last weekend I played 4 or 5 gates with double boosters Honor and EP.
I played cubes like mad on my quest and for the uri to build the gates.
Next day not only had I not increased in the ranking but the next lower rank actually got closer to me and the next higher drifted by hundreds of thousand points.
The main problem is the auto botters now constantly killing in the X-5 maps for the large quests and such.
I used to be close to the 1 star and now with the merges and the botters not even close to that rank.

    4,281,162 is my current,,

You need approx. 6,248,804 rank points to reach the next rank of [IMG] Chief Major.

The rank directly below yours is that of [IMG] Basic Major. Space pilots with this rank have approx. 4,201,190 rank points

  13. And what will the next rank get you, besides striving for the next rank. At the same time, the people at the next rank are striving for the next rank. Its a never ending cycle, in which those that are trying whether at or away from the keyboard, can keep you in your current position. Rank gives nothing in the game. You get no added lazers, no added shielding. I take it back, rank can make some jump at first when they see you, and others target you with a sudden thirst so they can say that they popped you while you were at that rank. Rank turns adults into little punks at most, talking about the rank the achieved like nobody else could ever get a rank. Higher ranks are meant to be a long time achievement and if you keep playing you keep going, possibly but if others are working at it as well, it may take a while or forever. I personally like it in the mud, keeps me under the radar.

    Why ranks ruin the game

    1) The only way ranks manifest themselves is in the form of an icon for your name. It doesn't reflect damage, shield, HP, skill or any other combat stat. In fact it just means that you spent most of your play time in Galaxy Gates, clicking computer generated objects with almost no skill involved whatsoever.

    2) Furthermore, why would you even bother? Don't you see that by shooting rank points you force others to do the same which in turn forces you to shoot even more rank points? You're basically ruining your own gaming experience. You might as well download that egg app which makes you hatch an egg by clicking it 10,000 times or more and then show that you did to some random people.

    3) Last but not least if you are not ruining your own experience, you are definitely affecting the experience from other people. And not in a good way. Especially by spending money you are saying to the developers: this is fun, I like to spend a ton of cash and even more time to get an icon before my name. Keep it up! Honestly you might as well get a job at your nearest grocery store. At least that will earn money rather than costing it.

Ranks should reflect someone's skill, not someone's willingness to compete in an absolutely pointless never ending battle for an icon before their name.

  15. rank chasing is pointless, somebody who bots 24/7 will always outrank you, and have all the ships and ammo, boosters to go with it,
they should make all the maps pve, and leave pirates and battle maps pvp.
but I don't suppose the dev team are bright enough to come up with this solution.

  16. Right on, I came back to play about four years ago, I have over 10k kills and only 836 deaths, my rank...chief major. Everyday though I pop other players that are two or more ranks above me, if it were about skill rank would mean something, as it is if I see a one star or higher on the maps they are usually running in circles killing NPC's on autopilot. I'm not even going to bother to try to gain another rank as long as I see the zombie ships out there raking in the rank points by flying 24/7 killing npc's. What benefit do we get from rank ? Nothing

  17. Rank is meaningless, if you are looking for a cool looking rank symbol next to your name be prepared to spend $ and time to get it. But crying about it and wanting to have it removed is just the rants of silly children.

You really should read the post/s you are replying to.
The ONLY person to even mention removing ranks is you, The only person crying about this thread is you.
Silly children do and say things that are our of context, not related to the conversation or disruptive.

People want rank to mean something other than who can shoot the most NPC's every week for years or who can do the most Hades gates Sunday after Sunday.
Rank should reflect a players skill and competence at the "game", killing 100 enemy players solo should be worth more rank points than completing 100 Hades gates on a Sunday. Like Hades killing 100 enemy while in a group pays less rewards than solo.
Encourage people to play the game on a level that shows off individual skills - Not just 10 vs 3 "we win" interactions (can't call them fights or PVP when the risk averse always win)

  19. Since the bots began here rank became obsolete. Once was a 3 star promoted quickly to a 2 star.. and not so long after that 1 star. Now I just play for ship kills, to hell with ranks. Now I see a one star, 2 star or 3 star I can only suspect they run a bot it's too obvious.

So now I maintain a chief major woot!! lol but with 101,186 ship kills who cares what my rank is, I sure don't.

Wouldn't it be good to see a PVP oriented game, such as DarkOrbit for example, acknowledge PVP achievements with rank.

I would much rather see `°ƒµll·†Ħгô††lє°´ "General" with 101,186 ship kills instead of XYZPlayer "General" with 101,186 Hades completed.
