Screen Resolution TV

So I have a laptop and to improve the screen size i connect it through the TV with a HDMI cable, since now i've never experienced any compatibility issues but the game doesn't seem to like being played on the TV screen, all the menu boxes are super small, even smaller than what is on the laptop screen making it impossible to play the game on my bigger screen.

Is this on purpose so no advantage is gained or is it just lazy work by the developers to not offer compatibility options

he never mentioned anything related to lag...what re you talking about? It s a screen rezolution feature...you go higher in rez the interface becomes smaller..thats it! ...the advantage is you see more around you!

 

Like an OLED you mean, i have a UHD 55UR81, guess it isn't quite a gaming TV

Ok, but i can't read anything lol to aid my gaming experience... so if its a resolution issue if i adjust my TV options to a low res that should bring it to be more compatible, although i thought my TV settings were on auto, maybe not

you have to alter your settings on your laptop and change the dpi settings .

i think it is this what you do ,ive forgot but i had to do similar for the game to display correctly as my pc is also using my tv screen

Fix app scaling issues individually on Windows 10

To fix scaling issues on applications individually overriding the global scaling settings on Windows 10, use these steps:

1. Right-click the .exe of the app.
2. Click on Properties.
3. Click the Compatibility tab.
4. Under “Settings,” click the “Change high DPI settings” button.
   
5. Check the “Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in Settings” option.
6. Choose when to apply the scaling settings, including when opening the app or when signing in to Windows 10.
7. Check the “Override high DPI scaling behavior” option.
8. Choose the behavior with the drop-drop menu, including “Application,” “System,” or “System (Enhanced).”
   
9. Click the OK button.
10. Click the Apply button.
11. Click the OK button.

After completing the steps, even though, you may have specific global scaling settings configured on Windows 10, the app will not respond to those settings. Instead, it’ll use the custom settings you selected within the “Compatibility” settings.

i am pretty sure it is that what i did ,or something very similar

 

Yes this helped greatly, it didn't work at first and was going to try a different setting other than application for the high DPI scaling behaviour but as i went too trouble shooter popped up and asked did this application launch correctly, so i said no and it then did its thing and when it launched the application it was scaled correctly, so in doing what you advised led to fixing this issue, so thank you very much for this

I had a look and the most recommended gaming tv's are OLED, i have a gaming features on my TV but it only has a 50ghz refresh rate so not quite the high spec gaming TV but its better than most, and i have now fixed the issues i was having

Yeah I'm loving it, such a better experience and the sound of the game through my sound bar is so much better too, there is bass to the rockets and explosions, so much more immersive. Thanks again

this is for future readers experiencing this also, as i just had a scare in that i just loaded up the application from yesterdays session, only to find that the scaling had reverted to its previous state, so i tried the other options of system and system(extended) but both of these only made the interface larger than on the laptop, so as i was at a loss for what the troubleshooter did and also wasn't popping up again i messed about with the operating system compatibility options and low and behold troubleshooter popped up and did its thing again but this time i noticed that the troubleshooter wasn't quite finished with when launching the app and needed a last step of saving the settings for this application.

So be sure you do this step lol

 

shouldn't be a need to run trouble-shooter i didnt anyway mate

right click on darkorbit in the installation folder ,and click properties . then the compatibly tab...
next click on change high dpi settings
then programme dpi ,,use this setting
then high dpi scaling override i used system enhanced . but try the others too to see what works best for you .

i complained to support about the screen res yrs ago and said like this is 2020 you know? most people dont play games on a pc at 1920 x 1080 .
i said you should have a game setting so you can select different screen resolution according to what size moniter you have or tv if using that .

 

Yeah i tried system (enhanced) but it only made the interface larger so it didn't fit on the screen properly and on the map, all the boxes just filled the screen leaving barely any room to see around me.

I don't know what settings the troubleshooter made but having saved them and closed the client and reopened it, i found it to still be scaled correctly.

 

you may have to adjust your display res setting too or your graphic card res too i do ... but anyway mate if it keeps your setting using the troubleshooter all is good yh ,

ive just remembered before this client that is being used at the moment they did have the different resolution settings you could choose from according to your screen size ,
its this crap client we have now .

 

ok I'll note that for any future issues, i'm not overly tech savvy but i do like playing with settings till i figure it out

so for some reason i load up the client today and find the settings no longer scaling the application, and trouble shooter isn't popping up again, so i try messing with the graphics and can only find two options for the graphics of he DO app and thats power saving mode or high performance, so obviously set it as H-P but it didn't change the screen sizing for the app, so i went onto display settings and changed my display from 300% to 150% (1920x1080) and although the home menu and map are scaled correctly the task bar is magnified, heres a screenshot link [EXTERNAL LINKS REMOVED] of what I'm seeing. I can't seem seem to do it for only the app as my desktop is also affected by the display options

Ok, i managed to access my AMD graphics and add DO to the library for customisation and although the display options haven't scaled the client (am having to resort to OS display settings), it has got rid of the magnified header as shown in the screenshot links. Perhaps i shall also make a request for client options to support it's 1920x1080 resolution needs
