a description of lag events and opnion of cause may belp fix it

I get the same lag issues over and over again.

it seem`s to have a pattern so I will describe.
first win8.1 intel 4 gen I-7 16 gb ram 32m l-2 cash invida 4 gb card. 256gb solid state hd and 1 tb 5400 hd.

speed test: 33.17 gb down load 4.01 gb upload latency .16ms
Game played with all setting`s to low no explosions no drones no back grounds no music or sound effects.

when playing normal fps is around 45 normal memory is around 400 to 500 megs. with npc or players in the map. at times the fps will drop to 5 to 10 and the memory is as high as 1.200 gb. this usualy happens during events such as the hitac and space ball and capture the beacon. it is also a lot worse when specific players are in the map but I know this is not the place for that discussion.

The abnormal conditions seem to have more affect on game play when the t/a was opened. then when closed the issue subsided. when t/a reopened issue returned. and has been getting worse by the day. yesterday the game became unplayable. the game screen was more like a slide show then a fluid movie. today the game is unplayable. As I play a few different MMO`s and the other MMO`s are not having the same issues I feel this is not a ISP issue. as the issues seem to happen when dark orbit is running to many events at one time I feel this is a game server issue. I also feel that part of the issue may be dark orbit running anti cheat programs during this time and I feel that may be compounding the issue for players who are far from there servers. Don't get mw wrong I will put up with lag from servers to catch cheats. But at this point is appears that many of the cheats are still playing and the issues are still here also. Maybe a good idea would to fix what we already have before adding any more to the game.

 

Term2050, Can you make a post the >This< thread and follow the instructions in the first post? It will help us identify latency and lag issues and better try to resolve them.

Register your PC with the Manufacture Website, Get all that Company's PC Maintenance Tools, Do All Updates, BIOS etc.

Next.. Do.. Windows Start/Control Panel/System Check for Updates ( Setting this to "Auto" sometimes will cause a Lag Spike ) But Check Manually once a Day.
Do all Important Updates, Be sure IF you have a Laptop it's Plugged in to Power.. Laptop Users.. Use an External Fan Under your Machine.. Cool Machine equals Speedy Processing.

Download and Install ASC Advanced System Care, Do a Complete Scan and Repair before each Log on to DarkOrbit, Get GameBooster from Major Geeks same company as Iobit ASC.. get it on CNET.. no bugs..

Make sure you have NO Other Programs running on your PC.. just the Game..

What you need to know:

Every time DarkOrbit Loads a New Item/Content or Fix.. They Reset the Server to Implement Changes.. but your PC's Browser has Stale Cookies.. Cookies are Complex Instructions written in Machine Code.

So use Your PC's Mfg. "Tools" to Reset your Browsers Cache, Important As Seprom.. (( / = Click ))

Do a Cookie Dusting..

First "Clear Cache" from the Browser your Using (IE,FireFox..etc. ) by placing the Mouse Cursor on the space above the "http" address bar.. now Right Mouse Click, Check to show Menu Bar.. as I keep my Bar off.. Now Click on Tools and go down to Clear Recent History.. Check all Boxes. Hit OK, Close Browser.

Best PC Tune Up in your GameBox :

Check Start/Control Panel/System and Security for any Pending OS Updates from MicroSoft.. Updating your OS with These are Really Important as they contain the Latest Information against Security Threats.. check that your Flashplayer from Adobe and Java, that these are Up to Date.. because Websites use these to process most Codings..
I go to Control Panel / All Programs and Delete these then check the Corresponding Websites to DownLoad the Latest Versions.. sometimes I will Run the Defrag After all updates..

Then again in System Tools Run Defrag on your C:drive Now..Reboot your Computer.. You have just returned your PC to Better than New Condition.. I will Run Defraggler and CC Cleaner as well.. Many times on this game Things Change and Running ASC Scan works well just after all this and just after a Fresh Reboot of the PC.. change up the order to find what works best for you..

Now When in the "Flight Window", put Mouse Cursor on the Screen of your ship and right Mouse Click, this Opens the Flashplayer Settings..
Set to UNLIMITED. Now Click again and Go to Global Settings : Open Advanced Tap/ Click on Browsing Data and Settings.. Check.. "Delete All".. Close the Window. Now go to your PC's Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Clean/ (check all Boxes and Delete)..

See Settings in the Top Right Flight Window (( For Hunting and Gates)) For Best and Fastest Locking of enemy ships.. Drones off, you still see dots under the ships to show what drones they have. Ore turned off, BackGround off, Engine off, in the Screen Resolution page Settings, Display/Advanced Mode/Turn down the Details on many.. But BackGround OFF, Explosions OFF,
Resources and Boxes OFF..
For Advanced Fighters.. Watching Drones Changes requires that you Turn "Show Drones On"..

The background you could set to NONE as you can change it to low in a few clicks if you need to see features on the background.
Some Gates have Changed, you can adjust Settings to reduce the "Visual Coolness" and reduce lag..

TIP : I will log on .. Jump a few Gates and try a few Boxes and Npcs to check for Lag.. Before Jumping into any Galaxy Gate.. Still give your Ship time to register Damage Lag.. about 8 seconds.. sometimes, Watch carefully and dont always trust your Eyes.

Things will change and Be adaptable.. Good Speed and Remember to have FUN..

One thing that worked for me was to renew the thermal paste taking heat away from the laptop's cpu. Now the cpu does not get as hot and the thermal-protection clock-slowing does NOT kick in. It used to completely cripple the game, causing repeated freezups of 5 seconds or more. Before I renewed the thermal paste, I had made a laptop "cooler-stand" out of an inverted in-tray box and a couple of fans. But the new paste solved the overheating problem. Get HWiNFO program to see your temperature sensors.
