A SERVER MERGE FOR THE BETTER

Hey guys! i'm here to share my thoughts on server merges that NEED to happen. I have not played dark orbit on over a year now simply because my server is completely dead. I play server GA4 and there's not alot of players active at all. its almost impossible to go hunting and find a decent fight. Merging the server with another, or maybe even two more would make the game SO much more enjoyable for the high majority of players aswell as encourage old players AND new players to come back and enjoy the game. Don't you guys miss the days of those 10v10 PvP fights aswell as being able to play for hours with plenty of people to talk to and associate with? I for one do, and i have spoken to many of my old D.O friends which honestly all agree with me. Even though ranks may be changed, I much rather a basic colonel instead of a colonel if im on a server with an active community. I would not be hesitant to get back into the game if our server had two to three times the amount of players that it did now. This means that i am willing to spend money again and have a fantastic time like the good old days. Thanks Darkorbit and please, for the love of this fantastic game merge the servers. Surely there are always going to be the people who disagree with me, but however a very high majority of people will agree. With all of our voices our word will be heard!

Why are you spamming the forums with this when there's already a server merge thread and discussion? About the actual idea, no.

 

Well obviously im just trying to get the word out even more, and let Bigpoint know that many people do agree with me. you said before in a previous post about not playing Dark Orbit anymore, so why bother posting on the forums.

 

Hey i'm new to the forums, but been playing the game 5-6 years, used to play GB1 and ended up quitting just after Skylab was introduced (yeah was that long ago!) because i got bored really. But i've started again half a year ago on GB2 and very much enjoying myself now with all the new stuff that's been brought out, but i'm really surprised at how quiet GB2 is, bit of a let down because obviously it's not as fun but it's good to hear that there's talk on here from other users about the same thing!

 

No, this is spam, plain and simple. I wouldn't be on the forums this often if I wasn't currently playing semi-actively and besides, I would prefer the game to not be completely destroyed if I did get bored then came back.

How do you expect to be taken seriously as OP? You just made your thread look trash and it looks like you either dont value or are ignoring the other comments, this isnt a dating website, if you love the game then prove it.

You haven't stated your opinion in this thread boss adams other than you don't want the game to be ruined when you come back. therefore given me nothing to say/respond to. You basically just came to this thread to leave hate and complain about spam when there isn't another single thread about server merging in the first page of Update & Idea Pool. and HappyTurnip, i've been playing this game on and off for six years and of course i think server merges are for the better of the game. Now i would not like to turn this thread into a fighting arena, and would like to keep it to discussing the topic "SERVER MERGES FOR THE BETTER". So far Emma was the only one to put her opinion of the topic forward.

The problem with server merges is that the accts would b at risk of getting lost, the same players that killed the server they are on would probably kill any other that they merge with and the unforseen problems would probably be so taxing that failure is certain.

Besides that D.O. doesn't seem to want to.

 

You're**. I think it's past adams bedtime and his getting a little cranky ahahaha. And Dreadlock, although that may be true, we must also take into consideration that with a server merge, comes new competition for everyone. Since there will be much more players, the stronger ones will have harder competition. I don't think it would also be THAT hard as everyone seems to think. Remember that time with the honor glich and they had to reset everyone's honor going from a month back or so? Those same type of strategies could be used to copy accounts all into one server.

I just don't think they could when they can't even fix simple glitches, then again they might just ignore them. Your welcome .

 

As I was trying to explain to you changing accounts from 1 server to another is back end work (meaning front end developers don't have anything to do with it - e.g. the ones who fix (or supposedly don't) glitches)

Server merging or ability to transfer your account from server to server needs to happen to expend the player base or have old players return.

The problem is none of this would happen, a server merge would only make more players quit, throwing servers together while having the same exact game with the same exact problems won't suddenly bring it droves of new players either. Being able to move from one server to another, especially if you suggested a cost for such a thing is ridiculous and only another patch for a problem that needs more then that.

 

No but you see Dynamo, it would make the game more active because lots of players would start playing again because the game would be fun again with many players as it was in the good old days. (If you played then).

This idea has been suggested many times Let me count... Well, if this happens goodluck to the dead servers that had it easy to PvE (getting their PvE quests done) cause then it will turn into PvP

 

This idea will continue to be suggested as many times as it takes for this to happen. Many players support this and the dying servers support something that will work.
Most posts against it are not even claiming they are against the idea, but are clearly stating that Bigpoint wont allow it, as if they know exactly of what happens with the future of the game.

Example for progress: TA, players from other servers are able to fight each other at the same time and test their skills. Yet some people claim server merge is not possible?
