Accusations of Auto Locks

    so by that u r telling me that I;m blind when I play on different monitors .that I can't see the difference .that I have way more space on my 68in plasma than on my 23in monitor .. ok cool .the difference is that on one I see outside the shooting range .lets say 2 more ships lengthwise to the edge of the screen and on my plasma I can see lets sat about 7 more ..

    No not at all.

    What I am saying is, I could put your 68in and 23in monitors side by side and make the 68in see far less than the 23in and the 23in see far more than the 68in at will, without changing the resolution on either monitor.

    Carefully look at the screen shots in my first post. They are from 2 browsers side by side on the same monitor at the same time. The only change was to the aspect ratio on the second browser, which made a massive difference to the viewing distance between ships.

    I know u can do that..I;m saying if u play on full screen by clicking the full screen button . u won't be able to do that . it will be a huge difference. I have a friend that plays this with a smaller monitor and he can't see me but I can always see him on my screen

    I could even explain how you could get the advantage in full screen mode. So your statement "u won't be able to do that" is wrong. ;)

    I could significantly increase your 68in monitors viewing distance on full screen mode, you are just not thinking outside the box.

    Now you seem to have at last workout, what I have been saying is correct,
    as you have just introduced the full screen as an argument, I would guess you might get it, if you think hard enough.

    and Dude, stop with the attitude before you consider your option if I'm wrong then fair enough, but.... ;)

    dude what I'm saying is that since I have a bigger monitor then some players I see them outside the range when they can't see me ..they can do what ever they want .but if their maximum size is their screen size and they can't see outside the shooting range .then they can't do anything to see me outside their shooting range .while I can .
    and I love how when u get frustrated and u know ur wrong u start to insult people subtly

    Dude what you are missing is, it is not the size of your monitor that dictates the maximum viewing distance between 2 ships.
    I have a smaller monitor than you but I guarantee I could set my monitor to see you way before you could see me even on full screen mode.

    :rolleyes::rolleyes: How sad when I was pointing out your misguided beliefs in what you was posting was undeniable fact, I was just picking on you arr
    However when I am pointing out some else is misguided in what they are posting you change your tune.

    I'm just pointed out the facts, an I am still just trying to point out the facts.


    Come back tomorrow when you have final worked it out, if you are able to, then if you are man enough accept I was correct, or just remember for the next time. If you want to know how to do it, you could even ask.

    (Once again full screen is a must to see it best)

    I tried to make a clearer video - the height is a lot more now so its easier to see the npc load in and out once they get in and out the range.
    Hope that this clears everything up once and for all.

    For Pacman, I have even locked one NPC to show that whatever is on the minimap is what is view-able. When it enters the minimap it loads in, when it goes off the mini map is goes off the screen.

    When have I ever said I know everything?

    I can however find a string of historic posts from the old forum where I posted what I perceived to be true and it has turn out to be so.
    I do not however post superstition and project it as fact.

    Getting back to the thread:-

    There is the potential for a very significant difference in the viewing distance between 2 separate account.
    This can and I would suggest does, result in players being accused of auto locking from outside of a players viewing area, when in reality they just have a different screen view set up.
    This can be massively affected by aspect ratio.
    The only relevance this has with the mini map is the mini map reflect what the screen is showing in terms of when a ship or npc starts to show as a spot on the mini map.

    I would suggest the most important factor to fair play, relating to viewing distance, is that we all have the same relative viewing range, regardless of aspect ratio, resolution, monitor type, or any other factor that could possibly affect that relative view distance.

    This would either result in a distortion of some aspect of the game view or a need to go back to cropping the screen to fit a standard screen aspect ratio.

    Noting that before this update there was the potential to change the respective viewing distance between ships, but significantly less than we have now. Also it should be possible to fix that distance so it is the same for all normal player accounts.

    How is the relationship between the mini map and the main screen relevant to the debate. Its is like saying day is day and night is night, but you are continuing down this path to back up this irrelevant point you made in the debate. As you do not have anything else to bring to the debate.

    No one has suggested that there is a significant difference between the mini map and the screen view.

    So why are you putting so much effort into show that they are similar?

    Here is you first post( in white type below):-

    A high resolution large monitor used to optimise the maximum possible ship to ship viewing distance will help, as it will still give a large screen / ship size compared to the same result that could be obtained from a small monitor.

    As a small part of my first post I posted the following which was the only reference to your post in it, this has been turned into a major debate once again because you rebel against being corrected.:-

    It is a fact that the range can be significantly affected my the aspect ratio of the screen window area.
    I clearly showed that in the screen shot.

    So this statement of yours which I reference is inaccurate.

    The mini map can see the full map.

    The range of a particular account viewing distance can be massively affect by the windows aspect ration. So there is no "certain range"
    and if one reads it any less vague then it becomes a pointless statement, like saying day is day.

    The size of the monitor is not a significant deciding factor in the range of view, the aspect ration is.
    A 2inch monitor could show a greater view range than a 72inch screen, but the image size would be restrictive.

    :/ I don't know what to say anymore.

    If you watch the video it is clear as day that there is a range at which the resources load in and out, struener appears then struener goes away.

    The reason it is relevant to this thread was because after a certain resolution, the distance you can see becomes irrelevant, why bother to see half way across the map when resources won't even load in that far away?

    I think Flash was right, maybe you are trying to argue about something completely different, your not actually making sense to anyone; the second video I posted is complete proof of what I am saying, I show multiple example of resources loading in and then fading away.

  20. yeh you most likely are right but for pacman doesn't matter he has to be right even if hes wrong... especially when you are right and he still needs to try and get one over on you.
