Achievements -do i not gain them automatically?

For example i have over 1.1 Million credits but i didnt get the achievement for having 1 Mil.

Do i have to wait to get this achievement? what if i spend a large chunk of it in the mean time (to buy equipment etc)?

You should have got it automatically and it doesn't matter if you spend what you have. You can look in the achievement section to see what it says your progress is. I wouldn't worry too much as you will get it soon I guess.

Thank you whoeva for assisting with this thread.

Usually when achievements were introduced in the game, they had to start from scratch in terms of EP, Honor, Ship kills etc in order to complete the achievements.
Example:
XYZ pilot had 10000 ship kills before achievement was introduced and there is a achievement for 10000 ship kills know as "Reaper". So in order to get that he has to start from 10001 all the way till he gets another 10000.

So if you had that 1m counted towards achievement then after that you can use your credits.

I'm not sure how this answer helps in any way shape or form. Achievements were added years ago, not yesterday.

@Jerryc, there seems to be an issue with the actual amount required for the achievement. I've found that it depends entirely upon how you earn the Credits. For example, Credits earned from Missions will not count towards the achievement, whereas Credits earned from Aliens will.

 

I'm not sure how this response help either. PoseidonsFury's suggestion was a valid one, who know when the op started playing DO.

I've found that there is sometimes, where bugs and issues may not give the rewards as is suggested.
