Battle Ray Question?

    On a mission that requires 30.000 damage to Battle Ray on 5/3. Completed all required objectives in order as stated. Have attacked Ray twice now and have caused zero damage. Have not affected its shield level at all? Attacked with max rockets and laser power and kamied it 4 times each attack, but to no avail. My shield power at 984 K. Any advice is appreciated as you know. Thank you.
