Botting

It has become obvious that the botting has started up again. What is Dark Orbit doing about it?

I think people have easily forgotten what bots were actually like, when you would go into x-2 map and see 50+ players killing streuners, players with over 10,000,000 npc kills ...
Obviously this was most obvious on big server but then there was all the cloaked botters too which nobody really saw as much yet there were more people doing this since it was more profitable.

Sure some still exist, but at this point they are elusively pixel based and only a fraction of what they used to be capable of doing a year ago, as a result people don't think its worth the risk. They see friends or other players they know risk it and lose their account a few months later.

Monthly ban waves and 24/7 detection that as of last month changed to be even more effective at countering pixel bots, particularly doing some very sneaky things with individual palladium and bonus boxes.

You have to keep in mind that a player can be detected for a long time before being banned because they do bans in waves to catch out more people as they become more confident that they wont be caught.

 

From last sentence- and then start doing it more often and use even more, different, bots.

 

Right, because when a botter buys premium, rebate and a bot lisence gets their account starting to build up for a couple months then gets it all taken off them, the first thing they think is lets do it again.
Hence why when there was the last huge ban wave when people lost their pilot bio all of them stayed because none of them felt bitter at all.

Botters are people, not some mindless machine hell-bent on making more accounts to get caught all over again, once they get caught there's a very high chance they won't be bothered with the game again. The ones that do stick around don't bother to risk it again.

You are also implying that there are dozens of bots and not a couple that have a monopoly of what is left of the market. Even during the height of botters there was only every 3 prominent bots. One of them was just a crack of the other.

 

For the first paragraph, I think you misinterpreted what I meant- I was saying, as they get more confident they won't get caught because they haven't been caught yet (ban waves instead of insta-ban), they start doing it more.

Same thing for second paragraph.

3rd paragraph, even if that was true, going with what I'm saying, use one bot, don't get caught (for time being), then use 2nd bot, still don't get caught, see that it is completely exploitable, use 3rd bot.

 

Well i havent seen any npc bots but on gb1, there a few pally bots where if you go near them, they run back and fourth in the same flying
pattern over and over and over lol.

 

Others have mentioned this very issue on GB1. Not seen it myself but its obvious C3PO and friends are back in the maps when this happens.

 

It's all in your head, bots don't exist, they never did. They'll probably be banned unless DO's script sucks again lol.

 

Box Bots are up and running....

 

i dont see no bots killing aliens but i do think their is boxing bots and pally bots still out there

 

Seen about two in x2 map so they are around especially the ones that cloak/box there are a few more of them about , but not as near as it used to be and I wouldn't even worry about it stopped caring years ago.

There are still a few bot programmes around and if people going to use them hope BP do something quicker , but I hold my breath cause they cant or wont get rid of the players that use the famous autolock etc lol.
