  1. Hello All,

    Are you a tweaker?

    Are you an overclocker?

Do you take tweaking your browsers, operating systems, and hardware drivers/software to max out your game experience seriously?

I am looking to find myself a good little team of tweakers to help determine the best optimal setup for DarkOrbit, other than the optimization information given by support etc.

I have spent the last few weeks single handedly doing this myself, but now I want to find out what other system specs do what, in regards to changing certain elements within your Operating System.

Experience in Overclocking, Tweaking, Using Beta Releases of Software, Good knowledge of hardware are almost essential.

Drop a message here if your interested.

At the end of it, I want to try and develop a thread on here which concentrates on this type of Optimization. This will not only help us, the players, but also help Developers to source reasons of dodgy code or Flash Player debug related issues which they can report to Adobe.

    LAGI.

Hi LAGI, great thread subject matter.:)

I would say there are generic processes that will help optimise the DO gaming experience ( disregarding connection and server based issues), then there will be more specific optimisation options depending on many factors, not least of all, which operating system you have and your hardware specification.

There will be a major difference between the issue with optimising a 10 year old PC like I am currently using and going through all the potential optimisation possibilities for a new PC.
( noting that Microsoft and Flash are currently trying hard to get me to bite the bullet, to update from my 10 year old PC running XP:( which I still see less DO issue that many with the latest PCs)

I remember the journey to optimise my PC. I learned so much over the first couple of years from optimising my PC trying to minimise DO lag issues. I guess it is something that I can appreciate DO for these days.
    :p:D

  3. I go a bit further in relations to processes and software tweaks lol:

These are my forced .XML (ATi profile) 2D clock speeds.

Original Stock speeds are 157Mhz GPU Core Clock and 300Mhz Memory Clock (2D Clocks).

I am going for a push of 1Ghz on the GPU Core and 1500Mhz Memory Clock :D[IMG].

As for windows optimizations, I disabled many features buried within the Windows Registry which affect hardware in many ways.

I have to agree, out of all the games nowadays, if you can get DO to run without a single hiccup, your sorted for all games lol.

  4. OOh thread heaven. Can't help you on the software side Lagi, i'm a brute force kind of guy, overclock the crap out of the hardware and hope for the best lol.

Cheap as possible hardware and then max overclock, I always go for the most bang for your buck, so saying this I bet you can guess what cpu and graphics manufacturer I have in my rig.

Maybe I should try this with other stuff than computers, hmm I'm off to buy a Tato Nano and nos the bejeesus out of it lol.

    Gl with this though Lagi.

  5. Intel and ATi, actually, you might have Nvidia if you rely on decent drivers, coz ATi's are rubbish lol.

  6. you're about 5 years behind the times on the ati driver issue m8 lol.
amd all the way for best bang for your buck.
Intel if you want best performance possible.

the last build I did for cheap was amd 750k £55, amd 7950 £170, mobo gigabyte fm2 £35, 8gb gskill £55 and western digital blue 1 tb £45, and I haven't tried a game yet it can't max out at 1080p.

Bit weird that I get more fps on Battlefield 4 than i get playing Dark orbit though lol.
