Changing username

So I just read the the FAQ on how to change pilot name and its pretty simple to be honest, yet confusing at the same time. How you changed your username and password before made so much more sense. You would have to give your old password and put in a new one. And you would have to confirm the email in order for the changes to be confirmed. I don't know why DO changed it, I guess its for increased security. But that's not what I wanted to talk about.

So I understand that when you change your username, the original username is your login name. However, is it possible to use that original username into a different account? For example, this might get removed but just as an example; I have one account originally named X. I change that account name to V. I then have another account whose name is W. Can I change that W account to have the name X, while still using W to login with?

 

Yes it is possible.

 

As long as another ship on the same server doesn't have the "Pilot name" you're trying to get, it's possible. However, the username can never be the same. Irrespective of servers.​
