So, as I had my fair share of them throughout the 3 days of which I'm playing this game, I was wondering what the costs are if I hunt them down?

Been making a nice little list of names to look for and hunt down, and I'm wondering what sort of penalty there is to kill someone from one's own company?

If there is a penalty, is there some sort of internal enemy list so that killing your own killer/attackers is penalty free when you open fire on them first?

    Cheers!

PS: I love their low IQ. First they kill me then they try to invite me to groups or befriend me..

  2. If they shoot you first and you get the kill there is no penalty. If you shoot first and get the kill you lose 200 honor, and that amount doubles each time you kill same company for 24 consecutive hours. If you get into negative honor there are severe restrictions which limit you, and you are made an outlaw which means your company can now shoot you without loss of honor. If they are in a clan and if you make or join a clan you can war their clan, which means no negative honor.

How do you see whether someone's an outlaw? does the name color change or are they marked somehow?
And what are the restrictions if you go down to 0 honor?
Also, do the restrictions differ depending on whether you go down to 0 honor due to pking or due to being killed?

On the other hand, seeing that you earn honor for killing mobs, is there a further restriction so that it's not all that easy to get off the dreaded 0 honor penalties?

    Cheers!

  4. You can tell if a person's an outlaw by looking at their rank badge (the little icon next to their name.) If it looks like a crosshair, then they're an outlaw.

There is no penalty for killing outlaw players.

And yes there is a further restriction for outlaws - damage reduction. When you become an outlaw, the damage you deal is reduced by a certain amount. The damage reduction starts at -10% damage for -200 honour or below, this damage reduction can really sting if your honour really low in the negatives since the damage reduction depends on much negative honour you have.

At -200 honour the damage reduction starts at -10%. (So you'll hit 90% of what you would normally hit)
At -500 honour the damage reduction goes up to -20%.
At -1000 honour the damage reduction goes up to -40%.
At -2000 honour the damage reduction goes up to -70%.
At -10000 honour (this one's the real stinger) the damage reduction goes up to -90%, meaning you'll only be hitting 10% of your original damage if you were not an outlaw. So if you normally hit 2000 with x1 ammo, you'll be only hitting 200.

Also you lose 1000 credits for popping your company, although most players don't see this as a big problem.

Btw, what server do you play on? If you play on GB2 tell me about em and I'll come sort em out for you. :D

Oh wow, thanks for all that info! :]

I am (sadly?) on GB2 lol
So far my 3 days of playing consisted of getting killed by my own company, getting killed by enemy companies, getting killed by mobs, and once a blue moon if I logged in early enough, by managing to complete the odd quest undisturbed x]

So I resorted to biding my time in the auction house today for most of the time ._.'

[edit] Thanks for the offer by the way. I'm in VRU so unless you're in it too I'd be more bait to you than anything else x'D
I had a bunch of company killers who I would have been able to kill had they not run.. lousy losers..

  6. GB2 has always had a history of people shooting each other down, when I used to play a lot back in 2012 EIC were seen as the company with all the team killers in lowers.

And I'm EIC, but don't worry about it. It might be my job to pop MMO and VRU, but I pretty much KOS (Kill On Sight) company killers over everyone else. I've dealt with my fair share of em in the past, best thing to do if you're being shot at by your own company (if you're not strong enough to take them on yourself yet) is call for an elite player in global to sort em out. Once they see you've got a few elites backing you up they might think twice about shooting you off an alien. :)

Well, I keep the chat off 99% of the time. it's kinda annoying seeing all the trolling, so I'd rather free the space on my screen.

I've been gaming for a good 25+ years now and getting pked never bothered me, but then again I've never played a game with this little room to avoid one another. If I move away from my company maps to avoid the company killers I run into guys from the other companies.. x]

Either way, thanks for the offer. Though, I'm not usually one to hide behind others. If I'm not strong enough, then I'm not strong enough. End of story.
I've never been much for pvp anyways. Just can't play any other space sim with this crappy lappy. x]

Also, I'm actually contemplating switching servers, but I've been so lucky here to get some of the expensive items dead cheap in the auction.. and I invested some cash.. so I'm a little reluctant.

Over all though, it doesn't seem to be a good server..

  8. GB2 is actually a fairly good server for starting up on since bids on GB2 (from what I've seen compared to other server) are a good deal lower than on the bigger servers. (Iris on the bigger servers go for around 100mil whereas they go for around 20-40mil on GB2)

It also depends on what company you're in. Some companies may be rife with company killers or may not provide much help on specific matters like this. If you feel that this is the case, there is always the option to switch companies. At your level (assuming you're fairly new to the game) I don't think this would be a very good idea yet though since this will cost you 5000 uridium and it will half your honour.

If company killers are truly making your DO life a misery then the best option would be to join a good, solid clan if you haven't done already. Your clan-mates will be able to provide both help with aliens and protection from company killers. That's the best advice I can give you.

Yea I saw that when I checked out some other global servers. Prices in auction are ridiculous there..
As for the clan, I tried, already to get the quest over with, but the one I applied for never even looked at the application it seems.

Either way, thanks for all the information :]
