  1. Hello Pilots,

After contacting the DarkOrbit team, I was encouraged to share this idea here on the forum — so I would like to open a serious discussion about the possibility of launching an official Retro server based on the 2010–2011 version of DarkOrbit.

Many veteran players consider this period the “golden era” of the game.

    Why 2010–2011?

    This was a time when:

    PvP was intense and meaningful

Maps were alive (x-3, x-4, pirate maps)

Progression was slower but more rewarding

Clans had real identity and server politics mattered

Power creep had not yet escalated

What should a true Retro server include?

    ✔ Classic user interface
✔ Original ship stats (Goliath, Vengeance era balance)
    ✔ LF3 / BO2 as core equipment
    ✔ No LF4
✔ No Havoc / Hercules drone designs
✔ No excessive % bonus systems
✔ No later mechanics that significantly changed balance

In short: a snapshot of the game before the major power inflation began.

    Why this could benefit DarkOrbit:

    Bring back veteran players

    Create hype through nostalgia

Offer a simpler entry point for new players

    Revitalize community interaction

    Strengthen long-term brand loyalty

Other games have successfully launched classic versions (for example World of Warcraft Classic), proving that nostalgia-driven servers can thrive when done properly.

LMAO that surprises me greatly and i dont believe you .

Apart from that you have not mentioned the cheat hacks , the botting ,, and account buying and selling that now goes on .

This has always been the stem of server decline and bigpoints lack of attempt to fix that .instead they have introduced all the new gear to try create income ... but that has backfired BIG TIME .. we are not fools , fix the game .get rid of cheats and stop announcing FAKE ban waves as if they have accomplished someting .. one person got banned on our server on the last . ridiculous

I also can't see this false ban narrative, I would really like to see where the ban wave is happening, what I see on the maps are the trains and no one does anything,
