DO Server Hacked?

There was an issue on Sunday (14th Sept 2014) on GB1 during Spaceball when the server apparently went into meltdown.

This is not the first time it has happened. I seem to recall it happening on the previous Sunday (7th Sept 2014) as well.

There are rumours that it has happened before as well.

The story behind this is that it appears that DO's GB1 Server was hacked on both Sundays.

There are also rumours that the hacker was able to give players things they were not entitled to - Uridium being the main item. It has been stated that the players who received "Extra Stuff" will have it removed & those to received Uridium & spent it, will go into the negative column if need be.

Now, I know that this may be a touchy subject that DO & Bigpoint may not wish to delve into or talk about, but suely players are entitled to know about this. They are also entitled to know what safeguards will be taken against this happening again.

I, as a player, were not able to log into the game on several occsions on Sunday eveing when this occurred - the longest period being ~45 minutes during Spaceball.

I have spent a lot of Uridium getting Salvage Protocols & money on a Box Doubler to use during events like Spaceball & feel somewhat robbed & deprived that I lost out due to what happened.

Surely there should be an Official Annoucement as to what happened. After all, it is not the fault of players that DO &/or their Server got hacked. That responsibility lies with DO, Bigpoint & the Server's owners.

Furthermore, if players lose out then surely they should be compensated. I for one, got well under half the GG spins & Uridium I normally get Spaceball.

Come on DO & Bigpoint, pull your socks up & give us info on what happened. If your Server got hacked, then that means players' accounts can get hacked & even deleted!!

The server was not hacked, nor was there any items given out in such a fashion. It was simply some server issues which did prevent a number of players from logging in during that event. Some events, and most certainly that one in particular do put a bit of strain on the system and while rare from time to time these types of things can happen. Also here you can see this was announced previously as it also involved the JPA:

Unfortunately some people will take any situation they can and twist it around to be something it is not, and after being here a number of years now there are a select few who delight in starting and propagating these and similar types of rumors. In this case as in most cases regarding a rumor, it is not true and is something that sadly gets passed around to worry and work up other players.

I do understand well your disappointment in not being able to fully participate in the event as planned, and do sympathize, but any type of compensation would be looked at from a server standpoint as it did involve all of the players on that server during that time.

Who told you that hyp? As far as i cant tell mega happy hour lasts for 2 minutes on gb1 now are you saying thats random? This whole cascade of blame is irrelevent, the question remains what will be done to further fix usability to 99% on GB1. If you cant do that, then quite frankly i hope the whole thing collapses because its simply doesnt deserve to exist. On the other hand, perhaps plod could get out in force and use their mobile phone scanners. It really is a 2 way route when you choose to deny hearsay and fail to make relevent points other than show us you're ping so we kno where u are roughly and try to make more sense of it all.

And with this, bang went "Space Whiz" title. Looked all over 3-4, but couldn't find it.

What happened you may ask?

Well, the whole stupid game started to freeze & my ship started to move in a staggered manner. I even tried to log out on 3 occasions & the game wouldn't let me. Then it all froze. I "X'd" out of the Space Map & tried to log in 6 times & couldn't. I kept getting a message that either the connection was reset & I had to reload or the Space Map wouldn't load fully.

Don't going to take advice on clearing my cache, making sure my Flash Player is up to date, making sure my Flash Player is set to receive maximum/unlimited data because that it what the response always is - despite the fact that I use proper registry Cleaners to clean mt PC!!

It is high time that someone pulled their fingers out & did something about the problems that persist in this game. Players contribute to the game & the Server is DO/Bigpoint's own choice & it is high time they got their act together & gave us servers that worked properly & can handle the payloads & stress placed on them!!

 

It's now the 17th September, I've managed to log on once since sunday, for about 30minutes. I know I said i was going to reduce my time on the game to spend more with my new girlfriend, but i didnt expect to be spending all my time with my new girlfriend - poor girl!
