Drop system, Instances and Role related ships.

  1. I believe darkorbit should start working towards being a more instance and drop based game now. Its been 5 years since I first played the game and just like day one, its the same. Grind the same things over and over and basically get nothing.

    Its time to start adding more RPG related things to the game. Such as a bigger drop system and add instances. We got a group gate. But it is no different than going to 4-5 and killing stuff there with a group.

    Add a few low level through high level instances that where there are bosses and mini bosses that give rewards and can give you that "chance" to drop an item. Depending on the dificulty of the boss from the instance, it can drop like lf2 - lf4. Lf4 having less than a 1% chance of dropping from the boss where the lf2 has a 10% chance and can drop ammo and stuff.

    But of course, with these instances that have these bosses that are hard to kill, we need to have more role ships. We have ships with special skills but we need to make ships have a default skills depending on what play style you want. You know, like the games that have healers and supporters. We can have engineer ships as basically healers.

    Right now, darkorbit is too simple. as we can see. The game is already starting to have that feel of a RPG but these changes can make the game even more intense in PVP and PVE and can promote group play in ways that darkorbit never experience.

    I like your concepts and I completely agree. It has pretty much been the same game for over 5 years, just adding new lasers and GGs.

    I like your idea of Healers, supporters, and attackers. It reminds me of another game that I used to play. Gave ALOT more variety to the game.
     
  3. Yea. Thats the kind of gameplay I can see darkorbit doing. And best of yet. Can even make darkorbit do a first. First game of this kind to be mechanical space scifi. Most games that have this style are along the most popular and are usually toon based.

    If darkorbit can pull it off without making it rely on money. The popularity of the game will increase. Right now. Its just about killing aliens that give nothing but credits and uri. Which to honest. Gets really old. Keep bonus boxes. Keep the cargo. Add drops.

    The drops can be from junk to valueable items. Junk such as scrap metal you can sell and maybe a screwdriver in space to speed engines you can equip or sell.

    There are some things about this I agree, and disagree with. Galaxy Gates are Dark Orbit's equivalent of instances. And yes, some of them do have a chance to reward you with elite items. So, I think the whole "instance" idea is a bit pointless, since it already exists. But, having more things like the LOW gate or the Battleray in 5-3 is a pretty good idea.

    I do agree with having new ships that play different roles in battle. (however, your idea if a healer/engineering ship already exists... it's called the Aegis). But, I think that instead of ships just being weaker to stronger, each ship should have it's strong and weak points. For example, some ships focusing more on firepower, but lacking in HP/Shields, or some other combination of HP, Shields, Firepower, and Speed.

    Your idea of "drops" already sorta exists in the form of booty boxes. Although, I would have to say that it would be nice to be able to pick up the booty boxes you get from NPCs for free, instead of having to use uri or buy keys. The boxes you NPC would have to have a less chance of getting elite items than the boxes that spawn throughout space, since they would be free to pick up (get what you pay for).
     
  6. My idea of role playing ships being healers and support will be basic class type ships. My idea is towards the role of everyone having basic skills. Such as Heals or support or just random damage.

    Everything in this game is evolved around money. My idea is to make things go towards playing the game. Not spending money every two seconds. I play games that are free to play and you dont even need to pay a dime to get all the best stuff. Darkorbit, its almost impossible to do anything without money.

    Galaxy gate is more solo. I want darkorbit to make more group instances. And to have them have more meaning. Maybe give a story behind the instance and tie them to quests.

    I would like to see people asking for group members in chat. Saying things "I need a Healer to help with (instance name) Or I need a support ship to give me a boost.

    This game has no purpose any more. Give it more roles and more activities for players to day. Other than events that only wallet players can really participate.
