FAQ – Vortex of Greed

Greetings, Space Pilot! Our company spies have discovered an undiscovered region of space, rich with precious materials required to assemble the LF-5 and LF-5 Anchorlock. Be cautious, though! Extracting resources from this dangerous environment may turn out to be an immensely challenging operation...

The Vortex of Greed is in the game for a limited time only: It runs from 13th to 27th August at 23:59 LST.

Executive Summary
What is the feature about?
Vortex of Greed is a new seasonally-opened gate which appears on X-1 map when you reach level 13.

As soon as you enter this gate, the PvP mode will be activated. In this gate, you are not fighting in a group but if you’re ready for this challenge, you fight through it alone.

But better be on the watch: Other players can snatch the resources that you’ve collected!

Your goal is to collect the new resource „Stellar Coins“ via loot boxes and defeating NPCs. In addition, if you defeat bosses or snatch from other players, you can also get rare items for crafting/upgrading new lasers.

Remember that it is not enough to just bring resources to the evacuation point: You can still be attacked at the evacuation zone and you need to defend your treasure for a little while before it’s yours when you leave the gate and the items are finally safe in your inventory!

What can you do with the new Stellar Coins?
With all the Stellar Coins that you’ve got your hands on you can exchange other resources that you need to craft or upgrade 2 brand-new lasers!

General information
During the season when the gate is available, it appears on the X1-map for players who already reached level 13.

It’s opened up 3 times each day and each session lasts for 15 minutes:

• 9:00 am LST
• 1:00 pm LST
• 8:00 pm LST

You can enter the map at any time during these periods.

How does the mechanics on the Vortex of Greed map work?
Each map has a maximum player amount of 20 players. When 20 players are in a map, a new map will be activated. As soon as you enter the map, your PvP protection will be removed.

There are different spawn points on each maps and you will be positioned at an area near one of the points randomly.

If you die on the map, you cannot respawn immediately but there’s a 10-second countdown until you can respawn at a random point again with restored full health. If you remain unspawned for an extended period or if you disconnect, you will only be able to respawn at the base.

Upon entering the map, the maximum distance of bright illumination on the screen is shortened so that you’re not able to see farther areas clearly.

Collecting Boxes
Every 2 minutes 15 boxes will spawn on the map. If you pick up a box, you get 4 Stellar Coins. With every new spawn, unpicked boxes from previous spawn waves will disappear.

Please note: The boxes cannot be picked up by P.E.T.s and the box rewards won’t be affected by the Box Doubler.

Fight against NPCs
There are 4 types of NPCs spawning on the map: Interceptor, Barracuda, Saboteur and Deadly Battleray. Heads up: They have an increased health than usual!

Every 2 minutes, 12 Interceptors, 6 Barracudas and 3 Saboteurs will spawn at random locations on the map.

• The player who deals the most damage to an Interceptor can collect a box containing 20 Stellar Coins after the NPC is defeated
• The player who deals the most damage to a Barracuda can collect a box containing 46 Stellar Coins after the NPC is defeated
• The player who deals the most damage to a Saboteur can collect a box containing 100 Stellar Coins after the NPC is defeated

At the 10-minute mark, a Deadly Battleray will spawn at a random point: After defeating it, there’s no box that spawns but the player who deals the last shot to the Deadly Battleray will receive the „Bounty Target“ status.

Bounty Target
You got the Bounty Target status? Congratulations! If you manage to successfully evacuate from the gate, you’ll get large quantities of Stellar Coin and of the high-value material Cryo-Nano Coolant, and you’ll get a title.

Danger! If you’re carrying the Bounty Target status, you’ll have a unique visual marker displayed on your ship and your ships location will be displayed on the mini-map – a good catch for other players who will target you to steal your prey!

If you’re defeated and your Bounty Target stolen, the status of Bounty Target will transfer to the killer’s ship.

Evacuation Zones
A total of 3 Evacuation Zones will spawn on the map so that you are able to bring your bounty to safety. The Evacuation Zones won’t be displayed on the mini-map.

• At the 8-minute mark, 2 Evacuation Zones will spawn randomly on the map.
• At the 10-minute mark, the 3rd Evacuation Zone will spawn.

After reaching an Evacuation Zone, you need to survive within it for 10 seconds before you can evacuate successfully. If you leave the Evacuation Zone during this period, the time resets.

Only after evacuating successfully via the Evacuation Zones, the Stellar Coins and the Bounty rewards that you’ve obtained via gameplay will be credited to your inventory. This only applies to Stellar Coins and the Bounty rewards, all other resources aren’t concerned and will be credited to your inventory directly.

Caution: The Evacuation Zones aren’t safe zones! You can be attacked by other players and also by NPCs.

PvP Fights
You can also obtain Stellar Coins by fighting against other players. All Stellar Coins that a player owns will be displayed below the player’s ship and visible to all players.

If you kill another player, all Stellar Coins that the defeated player owns will drop as a loot box that is visible to all players until picked up.

New Items
Stellar Coins
This intergalactic currency can be exchanged for legal tender and valuable resources all around space.

You collect Stellar Coins in the Vortex of Greed gate by collecting boxes, defeating NPCs or other players. The maximum number that you can obtain per week is 11,000. If you reach this cap via Vortex of Greed, further participation won’t grant additional Stellar Coins.

The cap resets at 00:00 LST every Monday.

If you receive Stellar Coins outside of Vortex of Greed (e.g. via in-game message, other rewards or events outside of Vortex of greed), the cap can be exceeded.

You can use the Stellar Coins from your inventory to redeem other items in the Vortex of Greed store, e.g. exchange them for the new Cryo-Nano Coolant or the Plasmatic Equalization Plate.

Double Stellar Coin sessions
On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at the 8:00 pm LST sessions, a double Stellar Coin reward session is activated. Upon successful evacuation, the Stellar Coins earned during the Vortex of Greed session will be doubled (other resources, e.g. Bounty Target rewards and other rewards from killing NPCs, will not be doubled!).

Cryo-Nano Coolant
This nano-scale coolant compud reduces energy loss in laser weapon systems while boosting performance and durability. Required to craft advanced lasers.

• Required to craft LF-5-AL laser

Plasmatic Equalization Plate
This cutting-edge laser stabilization plate suppresses heat and energy fluctuations in exchange for higher beam power and accuracy. Required to craft advanced lasers.

• Required to craft LF-5 laser
• Required to upgrade LF-5 and LF-5-AL lasers

Plasmatic Stabilizer
This scarce nano-composite was forged from rare outer space minerals in order to suppress energy fluctuations in high output lasers. They were designed to create a stable operation environment protected from overheating. Solely used in crafting elite-tier lasers.

VoG Vanguard
VoG Vanguard is a new limited-time privilege linked to the VoG game mode.

When VoG Vanguard becomes available for purchase, players may acquire it through the third tab of the VoG panel labeled 'Vanguard Mart'.

The duration of the VoG Vanguard privilege aligns with the period during which it is available for purchase.

• Unlock access to the Vanguard Mart's exchange rights.
• Retain 30% of earned Stellar Coins when your ship is destroyed in VoG.
• Receive an additional 50% Stellar Coins upon evacuation.

This benefit is stackable with the Double Stellar Coin Event.

• Increase the weekly Stellar Coin cap by 40%.

Vanguard Mart
After activating VoG Vanguard, players can use Stellar Coins in the Vanguard Mart to exchange items at discounted prices for a limited time.

New Tech Item: Versus Laser Overdrive
Versus Laser Overdrive is a tech-item restricted to use in VoG maps, which significantly enhances laser-based PvP damage.

Use Condition
Players must be inside VoG maps to use this tech-item.

Modifier
During PvP combat within VoG maps, base laser damage is increased by 500.

Duration: 15 minutes
The buff will be cleared under either of the following scenarios:

• The ship departs from a VoG map.
• The ship is destroyed while within a VoG map.

New Lasers: LF-5 & LF-5 Anchorlock
LF-5

• Base damage is 245

Overwhelming Laser: Causes up to 245 damage points per round. The LF-5 laser can be equipped on your ship, on your P.E.T. or on your Drone.

The LF-5 laser is better than the LF-4 laser in all conditions. It is slightly weaker than the Prometheus Laser with Overdrive but slightly better than the Prometheus Laser without Overdrive.

You can upgrade this laser up to level 20 with the following costs for upgrading:

• Plasmatic Equalization Plate
• ABR
• Uridium

With each upgrade, there’s a Damage Bonus of 0.5%

LF-5 Anchorlock

• Base damage is 245

The effect of LF-5-AL enhances PvP damage dealt and applies a slowing effect to targets, with both effects scaling based on the number of lasers equipped.

The LF-5-AL laser can be equipped on your ship, on your P.E.T. or on your Drone but the Anchorlock Ability only activates when it’s equipped on your ship.

Each equipped laser increases the PvP Damage Bonus by a certain percent.

• Every LF-5-AL equipped contributes to boost PvP Damage Bonus percents.
• The more LF-5-AL are equipped, the stronger the effect
• It applies only to base damage of LF5-AL, so it does not boost damage from other sources (e.g. boosters).
• Note that the set bonus effect applies to the base dmg of LF5-AL that are currently equipped on your ship only (not active if the LF-5-AL is equipped on your P.E.T. or Drone)
• The Set Bonus Effect cannot be stacked. Meaning that if you have 6 LF-5-AL Lasers equipped, only 1 instance of the Set Bonus Effect will be applied to all 6 LF-5-AL Lasers.

There’s also a set bonus which provides:

• with 3 LF-5-AL, every shot has a 10% chance to -15% speed for 1s
• with 10 LF-5-AL, every shot has a 20% chance to -20% speed for 2s
• with 15 LF-5-AL, every shot has a 25% chance to -55% speed for 2s.

Equip at least 3 LF-5-AL Lasers to activate its Set Bonus effect.

When 3 or more lasers are equipped on the ship, the LF-5-AL’s Set Bonus Effect will be activated automatically. As soon as the amount of equipped lasers is less than 3, the Set Bonus Effect will be turned off.

Anchorlock
Upon activating Anchorlock, players gain a substantial PvP damage boost and have a chance to slow down the target enemy with every shot.
