i hear what you are saying but an offset needs to be place that will be to pain full to abuse. remember there are player that play the game for pvp. even the players that use to farm now pvp. an hr of use is too long of a duration. some might still play while cool down, while others will just sit in the demil zones and wait afk for 10 mins at a time doing something else. i want to see that player being active, i like the idea of them having a bit of help from the farming chip/item, but i lets not just give them a complete way out of certain aspects of the game.

also think of multiple players sitting on a CBS covering it with attack protection for an hour while the shields are down building deflector time and taking turns with other players doing the same during prime time. i can already see how this could be taken advantage of. or stacking on a group member while they are pvping so thier buds cant be clicked on. i can see this being used for things it was not intended for. how do you purpose countering those? still like the idea

This protection of this item would b for the item holdr alone.
Outfitting won't share the protection in any kinda way.
I'll add that and the 1 hour active and cooldown time limits and the log off counters.

  3. I'm kinda digging this idea, although pally was meant to be a "high risk = high reward" type deal, since you get gates + ammo for free.
I would keep pallying and just activate the chip if a hunter is announced xD

Oh i'm sure if this idea makes it some dangerous npc's will liven this up since pvp will be crippled with this item but not npc attack.
Then there'll be them geniuses that for some unknown reason just kinda putt around with a ton of npc's that swarm u when they pass by.

  5. Say, that statement made me think of something.
How about adding a lil' penalty for using the chip? Since you are safe from PvP, NPC damage towards your ship is increased by 20%? :>

  6. I got an even better idea, when nooby opportunist tries to pop a player they know is not equipped to PVP and is busy grinding, instead of lasers firing they get a warning that reads "go pvp maps you troll"

  7. Not a bad idea :).

    Haha good idea.

  8. This is an unfortunate definite no from me. This is a pvp based game, first of all, so really getting popped a lot while your first starting out should almost ENCOURAGE players more to grow and develop as players to be able to beat those who destroyed those. If that's what they were trying to do when they got popped, oh well, if they're determined enough, they'll keep trying.

Another thing... I don't mean to imply this considering that DarkOrbit denies a lot of it, but there are still cheaters out there. The other day I witnessed somebody using the very "box bots" that destroyed this game before and that the admins mostly eradicated (give yourselves some pats on your backs, admins :D). Now, I'm not going to say their name because I don't want to be banned, but I would also prefer that this comment does not get taken down either because I just want the owner of this thread to know that a farming chip would be a botter's heaven and that it would only make people strive more and more to create a more advanced bot to get those boxes/palladium with a 100% chance of never getting killed for it (which was always fun to do *wink*)

If there were less dishonest people playing this game, I'd totally vote yes, but since that's not the case, I unfortunately am obliged to say no :(

  9. I would think that DO could set it so it was only good in certain areas. It is one of the reasons I would say in the pally map only. Limit the usage to that map. It don't take that long to gather the ore for those various missions and I agree if it was used by someone sitting on the cbs in the lowers maps, that would be a bad thing. I am proposing that the players would keep doing pally after the hour. Some pally for hours at a time, just like some players box for hours but I don't think this should be used for boxing. I think this idea could be implemented but good controls would need to be put in place.

I like the npc's damage boost but i'll keep it at 5% "why should they get better than us???" also regarding the bot return i'll just consider it a D.O. problem and allow them to resolve it as they wish.
It would be hard to force players to continue being active during cool down but I'm sure most will if they really wanted to progress in the game.

Yep botting is a D.O. problem.
Why the 5% damage boost for npc's against chip users?

  12. You have no risk of being shot down by a player.
So you need a negative impact for it.

I like it, it keeps pilots on their toes.
    I don't see ubk's bein targeted with this chip...lol

  14. 5% may be a little high. I am thinking 3%. A lot of new players are not ready for the anni's anyways when they first go to pally and if a sab and a barracuda are added to the mix, its over. But you have to have a negative for every possitive you get in the game in order to keep it balanced.

  15. 5% is kinda nothing when NPCs hit, they only hit an extra 1,000 when they deal 20,000 damage, and it's just lasers only.
Anni's hit what, 14k tops with lasers? So they would just deal an extra 700 damage, leaving it with not much of a visual difference. Hell, when I was a lil' above FE, I wasn't ready for Annis when I first saw em, so I ran from every one I saw. In palla now, I freaking SAB and x3 them. Everyone's gonna be ticked when an Anni comes for em xD

I think this will make pally field overcrowded, not sure will work. It will defeat also the pvp idea of the game, and hunters will also be out of job :D

  17. I completely dislike this. But thank you for your ideas! :D
    1. It completely defeats the purpose of the game and we all know DarkOrbit is about PVE.
    2. There are quest for Pirate Maps to kill other people in.
    3. This chip would be abused anyways, since most people are in 5-3 anyways and would be hard for people to obtain kills.
    4. The farming chip would overall ruin the balance of the game.
    5. If your constantly being killed in Pirate Maps, that's a obstacle you will have to face.
    6. All Pirate Maps are PVP maps whether you like it or not, if your tired of being killed there's other ways to obtain Galaxy Gate spins like Bonus Boxing.
    7. Join a clan or invite people to your group so you can have people defend you from enemies.

    The way I see it,

    1) PvE is still possible with this idea, it's just more controlled by the ones that want an hour of relaxed play or recoop time.
    2) There would be an hour window for the quests u mentioned and besides i've both seen and called out open challenges in global to fight others for quests or other reasons.
    3) Based on global and forum chatter i'd say PvP has been abused in pirate maps for too long now.
    4) Balance has always been a joke for the less than PvP ready crowd.
    5) If ur constantly being killed anywhere ur reason for continuing or the possibility to improve in the game dry's up fast.
    6) PvP is not the be all and or end all of this game, try engaging in non PvP quests or boxing like what was suggested earlier.
    7) I've seen clans as something easier to be in when ur strong enough to PvP without poppin all the time.

Just because PvP is an original focus of the game there must b checks and balances to avoid the bad ole times to be grandfathered into the game for noob players by the strongest players that seem to have or want nothing better to do than wipe out the weaker.

  19. While that is true, players rush into the pally field as soon as they can get in there. Unfortunately, not ready for the anni's like you said, and when the sab's come to play they normally bring some barracudas, nasty little suckers. At my level in West I normally get 2 sabs, 4 barracuda and 2 or more anni's coming at me at the same time. LOL, not sure how much I would make the CPU, as I keep forgetting about making the precision targeter CPU. Note to self. Funny I get more of those nasty barracuda in Great Britain if I can live more than 5 minutes. :p

I doubt hunters would be out of a job. Hunting is long boring work as is. Most hunt in lowers, which is never any good for me, or in x-6 or x-7 maps. Its more fun there. There is also the various events that they can hunt in and cause me to wonder why I logged on. No there is always plenty of hunting to be done if that is what you want to do. Stick and move.

  20. PvP, not PvE

PvP: Player vs Player (Other people)
    PvE: Player vs Environment (NPCs)

Don't get those two mixed up, it threw me off there for a bit xD

And Vespid, it's not more controlled, it varies among users. After the chip cool down has started, they may just retreat to a demilitarization zone until it finishes cooling down, and then get back into it :/
