Game freezes time to time.

So recently today i been hunting icys and realized that my game was freezing. I thought something was wrong with my laptop so i rebooted it, until i logged in and saw that it was still freezing from time to time. this bug has had me frozen on the client and it wouldnt let me close the window until a minute or so. so asked a few people on global chat and some had been experiencing the same thing i was experiencing and this is still happening on USA west coast server

 

You are not alone - I experienced the same thing. On USWest server also.

Do you have any further information regarding these freezes and game crashes? Is this happening in a certain map, against a certain NPC, when your memory usage is high? Any further detail that can provided will help us into looking into this issue.

I get it ALL the time generally more often in pvp encounters and maps with large amounts of npc's whenever I'm in range, it's like crazy cubes

 

That might be your PC's problem then.

 

16 gb RAM, 30 mb/s internet connection 6 core 4.1 processor and a brank spanking new $300 graphics card, havn't EVER had this problem on this game until a couple of weeks ago

 

Stop saying it's peoples PC's, because we all know its not the game has been lagging crazy for me I GET ON EVERYDAY WITH NO PROBLEMS ! I know when the game starts acting different, and my PC has had no changes what so ever its almost like crazy cubes are going on, the map is very jumpy.

 

For the past few weeks, I have been getting 50 to 60 FPS, and I have 50 mb/s internet connection. Zero problems what so ever. If there are people not encountering problems, it's not DO's fault.

 

We understand that some players have been experiencing issues, like BA_Ddraig said we need as much information from you the players as possible. Especially time frames as support can then look at the game logs for these times along with where your ship was and what you were doing, picking up boxes, shooting etc, and what your enemy was doing along with any special effects like cloaks or tech items, we would also like your system and browser specifics, were you running any other programs.

We understand its frustrating and are trying to figure out why its happening.

i have been having same problem for about the last 2 weeks. i have tried chrome,internet explorer, and firefox and all the same. happens in every map no matter what i am doing and total freeze up for five mins or more at a time but chat still works great. sometimes i can't even get logged in to play. memory and fps makes no difference can be low or high still happens. just in afternoon and evenings once in the morning so far. hope this gets fixed getting to be a pain. i can do anything else on my pc just not dark orbit. and i play on us2 west coast server.

 

It can get slow at times, but hit the farthest mini map you can and just drive over them over and over I 'm in the wrong state , but I will tread on you

 

Hi there, I play on USA (East Coast). I have the same issue. It appears as if your servers fill up, and can no longer catch up with my connection. I will be killing NPC's and they stop and I cannot shoot them. Yet, I can still fly, go to port, and such. I recommend expanding your servers, or deleting inactive accounts for the past 2 years. because I notice after the server empties out a bit, at 1am server itme, 12am my time, lag goes away and I can play as if nothing happened. I noticed last thread was closed and nothing was gonna be done for it. Id like my money ive spent in game back, since I can no longer play Dark Orbit. This being said, I know im gonna get a response as, your not entitled to anything. And for me to change my internet provider. For starters, its not fair that I should have to change my internet provider to play a game. And second, I play every other game online perfectly. I have U verse from AT&T. A very new and powerful internet connection. I would leave all the ISP stuff, but on my new 1500$ Lenovo Y50 UHD, the screen automatically closes out after it finishes the scan, so I cannot provide a worthless code of information. I could however, capture this lag on video. But im sure I will be answered with, we are sorry but we have no control over your internet provider. Which to me is a lousy excuse. Im not ranting or flaming or whatever. I actually and kindly would like to have my game play back. Either a complete shut off of all of dark orbit and reboot is in order. Or again, delete all accounts inactive for over 2 years. I do believe it is DO unable to keep up with me. I have a super laptop. I use Ookla speed test on my wifi. http://www.speedtest.net/ . 25ms ping. 7.68Mbs Download speed 1.47Mbs upload speed. To a lot ive asked these standards are high. Gaming laptop, plus near perfect wifi, and I still cant play? This is the only game ive had trouble with. But I can only play after midnight? I dont work the night shift, I need sleep, but its very unfair that I cannot play. Id love to help. But as what ive ready nothing can be done about it, when I simply know a few ways to fix it on your end. Upgrade the servers to a more higher capacity, or delete old accounts that no one uses anymore. Or maybe even a complete shut down for a few hours and reboot entirely. There are 3 possible aids to this situation. But will Big Point listen to me. I just want to play with ease again instead of staying up half the night just to keep my badge rank.

 

"Freezing" like this has nothing to do with Darkorbit server or your computer. Unless of course, your entire computer is locking up.

If you are experiencing moments in the game where nothing is moving for a couple seconds then everything fasts forwards. Then you are having a connection issue. Usually it is because your connection is not stable. You can have the best download and upload speed in the world, but whether or not your ISP allows you to stay connected after channeling so much data is the real question. I would invest in a VPN to keep your connection stable.

Nope. Unless your internet sucks. Each server is dedicated to over 5,000 players. At least, that is how many was playing back in 2009 with no problem at peak times for one server.

Darkorbit requires a constant Stable connection. When you're on Google or surfing the web, you cannot tell if you have a stable connection. Youtube or Online game play are the best ways of telling if you have a stable connection. On youtube, sometimes you will have a delay in starting the video or while you are playing the video, the video buffers then it downloads a huge chuck of the video or when the video is buffering, you click on the timeline button and all of a sudden the video is fully loaded. Or if you are playing, you will notice a large delay in action. Like when you push your first hotkey, it takes a few extra moments after you push it for the game to actually do what you want.

For youtube testing. A person with a good download speed and good stable connection will download the entire video fast and without seeing the "loading" bar along the bottom of the video stop and the videos will never buffer.

A person with a good Download speed but bad connection will either have a big delay in loading the video after the page has started or while the video is playing, it buffers, but when it plays again, a big chuck of the video was loaded.

A person with a good stable connection but bad download speed will load the video at a slow steady pace but never get a buffer.

A person with bad connection and bad download speed will probably spend 5 hours trying to watch a 5 minute video on youtube.

This is all online connection stability. But yet, you go to Speedtest.net to test your internet and you get amazing results?

Speedtest.net is not testing the connection between "your computer" and "Darkorbit". It is testing the Connection between your "ISP servers" and a "Speedtest.net server". I bet you, your connection between your computer and Darkorbit is alot lower than you think.

Yet, you play offline games with no problems that have higher Graphics than darkorbit.

Also note that you are using a Browser to play a pretty big and high data streaming game. Many browsers these days are not as stable as they were 5 years ago only because the companies that make them have put so much onto the programming and designs that over time, all they did was make things worst.
