Game Mechanic: Resistance to Damage (RTD)

    Prologue
    I've been thinking of a way to give a slight advantage to Vengeance and Spearhead (or any other fast ship) while not making it overpowered. Before this idea, I was working on one that would lower accuracy of enemy weapons if a ship has higher speed (More like real life), and if you guys want me to put some numbers and effort onto that concept then I will. But anyways, onto this notion.

    Main Idea
    The reason for this suggestion, beyond giving an advantage to the faster ships, is to make PvP battles last longer. With UE ships hitting 100k+, battles don't last very long, even with multiple people. So, on to the mechanics.

    The Cogs & Wheels
    -Aliens have no RTD, or 0%, at least. This could be changed in gates of course, to make it more difficult.
    -Most ships have a 25% RTD. This means all incoming damage is reduced by 25%. This could be made to only take effect in PvP battles, so that aliens' damage would not have to be adjusted.
    -The Vengeance, Spearhead, and Leonov (lets face it, not many people use this ship for defense against other players, it could use some help in this area) each have a 33% RTD, so their survivability is slightly increased.

    More Designs
    I don't think the above is enough of a buff to Vengeance. With this update would come two new twin designs (If someone wants to recolor the starfighter for these designs, it would be much appreciated):
    Glorified: Lowers enemy RTD by 5%.
    Warrior: Raises own RTD by 5% and outfit members' by 2.5%.
     
  2. So you want to take a mechanic from EVE online and shove it into DO. I could see this working if there were multiple damage types to be dealt and defend against, but their aren''t. I don't really see a reason to implement this.

    Veng and Spearhead have the speed option already, this is why they have lower HP. The faster the ship, the less hull due to weight, like in real life.

    This is a -1 to your idea.

    The only way to increase survivability is to reverse what BigPoint have done over the past 3 years to do away with UFE, which ofc won't happen cos people have spent £1,000's per account.

    I had an idea like this has well but thought against it.

    Reason i am saying no. While it is rare for an FE to pop a ufe it has happenned plus we normal FEs normally help if we can UFEs in battle against other UFEs.

    UFEs would get this and make the normal FEs waste more ammo in helping a ally UFE in battle.

    I do like the idea but don't thank this idea would help any in DO.

    The designs maybe but could use some work i think i just don't know where.
