what should i check or uncheck for best performance

 

set all settings to low, or none...Backround, ship, ship engines, explosions, drones, and zones.

It looks pretty bad, but it reduces most regular lag.

 

Best performance? This is what I have and I rarely lag.

Background is VERY important to turn off. Not only does it reduce the lag, but it also is easier to see the mini map

Drones should always be OFF. If you have 5 people on the screen with 8 drones each, that's 45+ items on the screen that your computer and the server has to register.

ernest3203 You can try turning off the individual display and effects until you get the desired results. A lot will depend on the speed of your computer, and how much detail you are willing to give up.
