  1. Hi DO peeps and BP peeps,

Bad move on disclosing what level everyone's drones are. Part the challenge of this game is knowing who you are up against. Rank is in the crapper. You could be facing a UFE basic Major and get yer butt whooped, but you don't know that until you face off. For me, that's the fun part of the game. Disclosing drone levels will shy people away form PVP ....

    Merely my 2 cents....

  2. The level isn't the upgrade level of the drones so i don't see how it changes the pvp. And its for something they plan on implementing later on in the game.

  3. No. Doesn't matter enough to change it

  4. Well here is how I see it. I'm generally a solo hunter. Now I will look for the ship with a [5] by their drones. This way I know for sure they are weaker in both shields and damage.

So far this evening "first night of this" all my kills have been of players with [5] by their drones.

Soon it will be a [4] and you know why?.. I am not the only solo hunter out there, players with a [5] are targeted more now. Before, we took our chances, now its in plain site.

Thanks Dev Team for the increased advantage once again.

I think it's a bad idea but meh, I'm just another player.

    Hello all,

    Here is an update:

To make drones where they are not visible - please go to settings > Interface and choose one of the follow:
Show Drones -(Unchecked to not show other players drones)
Show My drones (uncheck to no show your drones)

Since the sync.. and additional option was placed in the settings.
    I hope this helps.

    Have a nice day

Just to further clarify - we're just showing information that already exists when you look at the style, color, and graphical upgrades that represent level on the current drones.

As was mentioned above, this is being done in preparation for allowing you to use vanity drone designs in conjunction with stat-based designs.

The goal is simply to provide you the existing info, so that it's not lost or masked once the graphical / stats split goes live soon.

We've recently provided more options to toggle visibility on the drones (also mentioned above). If we need to further refine this functionality, we will.

To answer a few questions from other threads:

    - "Why did you provide this functionality instead of fixing X, Y, or Z?"

This was a very quick addition, that was made by a person that isn't working on the much larger tasks of fixing "X, Y, and Z." Also, as I mentioned, we're doing this in preparation for supporting mixing cosmetic / aesthetic designs and stats designs.

    - "Why do you want to support mixing cosmetic and stat designs?"

As many folks have pointed out here on the forums, moving in this direction allows us to continue to add a variety of new stuff without having that stuff directly affect the balance of the game.

It's part of the work (albeit only one aspect) that we're doing to improve the fairness of the game.

    - "Yeah, but why aren't you working on other more important stuff?"

We're doing additions like this, along with a large amount of other stuff. Please read these posts for a quick overview of some of that work:
And rather than save up a bunch of small changes like this and send them out all at once, we'd much rather update frequently, and quickly make changes based on your feedback.

I hope this helps to clarify a few things!

Hi peeps, so that's what was going on on the client yesterday, had me wondering lol. By itself, it would be pretty pointless, but having read Kerensky and Rick Dekard, I can now see the wider picture. Must admit I'm pretty intrigued by the proposed developments, and can't wait to try them out!
Moving so much into the client seems to make great sense, and I hope it all goes smoothly.
I tried the Kuiper Gate on Test, unfortunately it was very late in the evening for me, by the time my ship was set up I didn't have that much time left. Have to say though it looked really promising,
Congrats to the team for all their hard work on moving the game forward.
Have to say, earlier in the year I was getting pretty disillusioned with the game and it's impediments to free playing and lower level development. In the last few months however, I have really explored the mission system and taken advantage of the events, with surprising success.
I find two things needing attention, forgive me for mentioning in this thread - mid level account development and server population, also how these relate to standard and event missions. For mid level players, (say levels 14 - 18), event missions progress rapidly to a difficulty level far in excess of ship capability. A level 16 player (broadly speaking) cannot possibly solo many of the missions, whereas a level 20 (again broadly speaking) can complete them without effort. This effectively locks out players from significant event participation.
As regards server populations, how can we bring them back up to a point where standard PvP missions are again practical in terms of number of available targets. To complete even the easiest of these missions (eg destroy 20 enemy ships), one is nearly forced to prey on noob level ships. This is not good, and if the mission targets vis a vis PvP could be reset/responsive to reflect the server demographic, less noobs (presumably) would be driven from maps.
Apologies for that thread hijack, I originally intended to applaud the dev teams' efforts, and to say thanks for responding to some of the fundamental issues raised by the player community.

The game has vastly improved in a matter of months, and just wanted to snap off a salute and a victory roll to you :)
    Nice work!!

  8. Astraea & RickDekard,

Thanks for this information. I agree with Llewcoch This has enlightened me as to why the change.

  9. Enjoy the game.

Closing as lack of response from OP.
