  1. So I know Pilot Bio points are an old addition to the game, but I was wondering about the effect of the Heat-Seeking Missiles ability.

With one or more points on this ability, we know that occasionally the rocket is launched with a curved trajectory instead of a straight path. I know this isn't very important in-game, but my question is, does it take the same amount of time to reach the target, i.e. does the curved rocket go faster or do they have same speed?

I would like to know what other users think about this as well as mods that might have specific information about this from the developers.

  2. There are many different instances where rocket speed is altered in order to make sure the time it takes to hit a target stays consistent.

If you look closely at all scenarios, IF:
    • You sit on top of your target, the rocket will appear to fly very slowly from the middle of your ship, float in place, then get a hit.
    • You are chasing a fleeing target, rocket speed is very fast to catch up and hit.
    • You are at a moderate distance from your target, rocket speed is slower than the mentioned scenario before, but faster than the first scenario.

Now with the Heat-Seeking missiles, the rocket takes a longer path to get to the target, but it flies much faster to make up for the distance.

In all cases, the time it takes to go from point A (your ship) to B (your target), stays the same.

  3. Very interesting observations, I will give it a try and see for myself, thanks!
