    As most of the time that lag occurs in DO - a general problem. Haven't played the game in a while but have seen many people complaining about it on Discord and in Teamspeak.

    This is very wide question, game latency depends not only on game servers but also on your broadband connection specially if you use WiFi. Personally I do not own fast broadband but I haven't got any lags at all. If you from Europe and you play American server there is a chance of higher ping, you can easy check the ping to certain website by searching CMD on your operating system and by typing "ping >server you play on< for example "ping www.int1.darkorbit.com" . Make sure if you own slow broadband to switch off background apps that use connection. Keep in mind that darkorbit reloaded as other games needs a good connection to run smooth.

    With the distance between player location and server location, we will have lag. I play on a tablet over my wifi. WiFi already decreases the connection rate and since my tablet is not today's model, its not about to be even close to lagless. I did find that since I had my ISP come out and check all wired connections, things are much better.

    Not only That I've Noticed that it also depends on the number of players logged into a certain server has a big affect on performance, take
    for instance Spaceball, or deamaner freighter competion it gets so bad u can't even move, this is due to not enough bandwidth or Memmory
    space allocated on the servers, to handle the number of players. Take ur cable companies they have large servers with lots of bandwidth and memmory to handle the number of people they server and theres no lag.
