Hello, I recently bought 6 radar lvl 3 protocols and installed them on the pet. In description is written "The radar protocol extends your radar's range. It will also increase the effectiveness of your collector and enemy locator gear."
So its supposed to extend range of collector AND range of radar right? But I dont see difference in radar range, dots are appearing on minimap in same distance like without protocols. Is this a bug or purpose of the protocols is just to extend range of collector? If so, BP should change description of protocols, its not accurate. I was searching through forum but I didnt find direct answer to this.

  2. its for the range of the pet. If you have the pet collecting, auto looter or resource collector, it will extend that range.

It Extends the range of these gears:
    Auto-Looter
    Auto Resource Collector
    Enemy Locator

Meaning it will collect boxes that are really far away from you, the more radars, the more far across the map it will go around and collect Boxes

    Hi Iamix
I have quite a few lvl3 radar procols installed in my pet. They enable the pet to collect over a much wider area, but also are really good for enemy locator - my pet can pick up a trace 2/3 the way across the map (on the smaller maps).
I see what your query is about - and I remember when I was building up the pets radar capabilities wondering the same thing as you, therefore I agree, the description for the radar protocol could do with a bit of disambiguity, in that it should mention that it is only for use in combination with pet gear, not ship functions.
That being said, would you really want a minimap swarming with a confusing cloud of red dots? I wouldn't.

However what I would really really like, is if my pet radar picked up the closest enemy - and that is the trade off for having stacked radar protocols, often you are away over the map after the next target when in fact there is one not far from you.

The other thing is this - and it is a confusion I experienced again with description of pet gear / protocols - that I had thought the radar would allow me to detect nme pilots at a greater range. I mean, after all the title 'enemy locator'?? It just means 'alien locator'. And there was me thinking that in a PvP game your enemy was the other pilot. Silly me. I remember my disappointment on first using that particular pet gear only to find npc's on the drop down menu.

Descriptions of uridium items should be more comprehensive, - in fact, they should be absolutely accurate. When you buy an item based on its description, that item should be 'as described'.

This is a marketing tactic I personally loathe, and if you were selling a lot of these uridium only goodies on, for the sake of argument, a well known auction site, you would be out of business through seller refunds due to 'item does not match description'

I hope you have fun with the added range offered by your new protocols, and hope you are not too disappointed with your purchase

    regards

Well, its quite good advantage, you can detect pirates on palla without making them detecting you, also you can react faster when enemy player is coming to you. But now I can satisfy with just double radar spearhead skill :(
Im quite dissapointed with purchase, but it will still come in handy on palla. Thanks for answer, you can lock now. BP should really change those descriptions, it is making more people angry and dissapointed than making profits.

  6. I have been bringing up the fact that the FAQ's are out of date or need tweaking for months now and no one seems to care about it. Another one to look out for is the HP upgrade as this needs to be purchased for every level you reach or you will not get full HP available without a major purchase of upgrades.

  8. If you ever want him to help in a PvP fight you will want the extra HP and at level 15 to get full HP it is like 550,000 Uridium if you did not buy any upgrades during the growth of you PET. I thought it was like the other gears (after level 8) you could buy level 3 instead of UPGRADING from level 1 to level 3, but this is not the case you have to buy all 15 HP upgrades, if you want full HP on PET.

Thank you all for assisting with this thread and clarifying how the radar protocols work.

Astraea does an amazing job in producing and maintaining the FAQ's that we have, and she is currently in the process of ensuring that all images are updated to the present day. However with over 170 threads and only a small number of hands, it isn't always an easy task to ensure that each thread is always up to date with the latest information.

Fortunately, one of the reasons we have 'General Issues' is to answer some of those questions where the information/answers may not be easily found otherwise.
