Which is better depends on you individual game play ship design etc and for the intended purpose.

Does the OP have any further questions?

  3. Well, hell yeah, you didn't answer me which is stronger and Better Diamond or the Augment F-17-DM 3D does anyone use Augment F-17-DM 3D?

I know the Augment F-17-DM 3D takes away all your fire power 50% of it and 25% reduction on launcher so that don't sound to good if you read it I dont think it gives more shields that Diamond this is .5% per second and Diamond 1% per second Augment but I guess my question is does it give more shields than Diamond?

No one seems to know anything about it. Everyone I ask, I don't know I don't use it, is the topical answer. Someone has to know.

    dome sucks, diamond is better

    there ya go

  5. So, you have it but never use it because it sucks?

  6. Depends. Also keep in mind that there is a buff coming soon to the Dome Formation. Currently, your shields are boosted by 30% (x1.3) and regenerate 0.5% (x0.005) per second. Rockets & Rocket Launcher cooldown times are reduced by 25%, but laser damage + speed are reduced by 50%.

In the upcoming buff, shields are boosted by 40% (x0.4), regeneration to 1.5% (x0.015), laser damage reduced to 30%, and speed reduced to 15%

Let's go ahead and do the calculations with the current stats. Just keep in mind that the Dome formation will be stronger with the update.

    Diamond
    Hitpoints: 30% Reduction
Shields: 1% Regeneration, up to 5,000 per second
    Damage: Unaffected

    Dome
    Hitpoits: Unaffected
Shields: 30% Boost | 0.5% Regeneration per second
Damage: 50% Reduction | 25% Cooldown Reduction for Rockets and Rocket Launchers

Now, let's say you carry 1,000,000 shield without boosts, and 306,000 Hitpoints.

With Diamond applied, your HP drops to 214,200 (-30%) and your shield stays the same, plus the ability to regenerate 1%, so 10,000 per second. However, you are limited to only being able to regenerate 5,000 shield points, as that is the maximum. You still hit the same with or without the formation.

With Dome, your HP is not affected, and your shields are boosted to 1,300,000 as well as the ability to regenerate 0.5%, so 6,500 per second. The regeneration amount is not limited, unlike Diamond, but your damage and speed are dropped.

Suggested Use of Diamond and Dome
Diamond, use with a ship that is capable of repairing your HP, such as the Aegis or Hammerclaw. If you desire more damage, use the Solace. Why? Diamond drops your HP while strengthening your shields, if only slightly, and damage is unaffected. HP requires supporting

Dome, use with a ship that deals low damage, is slow, but can tank. The only one that comes to mind is the Citadel. Can be done with a Goliath, but interesting gameplay tactics and experimentation will be required. Why? Dome boosts your shields a healthy amount, as well as giving you some regeneration capabilities, but drops your damage and speed. The Citadel is already slow, and deals low amounts of damage, but the boosts to rocket + rocket launcher cooldown helps, and the speed reduction can be temporarily countered by the Fast Travel ability.

So as the above users mentioned, it all depends on your play style.

Find a top player using the Dome formation in their PvP, gates, or NPC farming videos on YouTube . . . If you can't find any, then you've found your answer.

Also, those who claim Dome will get a buff in the near future are mistaken. Information about that potential buff was posted by OP32 on September 20, 2017--and the buff still hasn't happened yet.

    Don't buy Dome.

  8. If you haven't noticed, it is a real patch that is slowly being applied over time. It is slow to happen, as it does require extensive testing. As of now, sections of the patch has already been applied. The changes to the formations may be game changing, so they are keeping a close-eye on how much PvP would change with it.
