Byte Remnant.

It can only be collected within the Eternal Gate. As you progress, you get higher amounts. You do not get it until you lose your two lives in that gate. Here's the reward bracket:

1 to 10	10x Byte Remnants	100%
11 to 20	50x Byte Remnants	100%
21 to 30	250x Byte Remnants	100%
31 to 41	500x Byte Remnants	100%
42 to 54	1x Asimov Cyborg 888x Byte Remnants	10% 100%
55 to 75	1x Asimov Cyborg 1000x Byte Remnants	20% 100%
76 to 83	1x Asimov Cyborg 1288x Byte Remnants	30% 100%
84 to 100	1x Asimov Cyborg 2288x Byte Remnants	40% 100%
101 and above	1x Asimov Cyborg 2488x Byte Remnants	40% 100%

So if you lose your last life on wave 79, you fall into the 76 to 83 bracket. You will receive 1,288 Bytes, plus a 30% chance at receiving the Asimov Cyborg design (you will need the Cyborg ship in order to use the design).
