[GI] something very fishy is going on!

ok so ill just explain what happened,

1. I find [REMOVED] circling npc on a slow config (obviously a battle config)
2. I uncloak on him with everything i have and totally wipe out ALL of the shield on that config
3. He emps, cloaks and runs
4. I chase him on full speed all the time JUST out of range
5. The speed of His red dot on mini map slows down so i know he has changed config and about to attack me back
6. to my surprise his battle config is now fully charged after about 20 seconds of me chasing him!

This is not possible at all!
I have been noticing this quite often lately

It would appear that there is now some kind of way to re-charge your slow config shield whilst running on your fast config!

Please can someone look into this as im pretty sure its a new glitch in the game or something that people are taking advantage of and its simply not fair.

 

Oh man, I hope it's just some lame bug. Haven't encountered this issue because I don't hunt.

 

Chances are all they are doing is running away in a different config so when they change to battle config maybe they also change to something like drill which has a lower shield count or even crab you have to keep an eye on the config changes cause some are good enough to make it look like they have 4 config's. Hope this helps.

 

I agree with Grimoire, in addition if your prey happens to be running double shield recharger boosters it is surprising how quickly they can regenerate their shields should they get beyond your range of inflicting damage.

You mean "backup shields" don't you?

As it only gives 75K shield it really isn't worth using in a meta where the average incoming volley is well over 100K. Even Sab is becoming redundant since the introduction of the newest lasers.

I still don't see how if the OP's description is accurate someone who has lost ALL shields on one config can after 20 seconds running in another config, switch back and have full shield.
If he had only lost a % of his 1st config before switching and running then yes a drone design change can appear to "recharge" shields but if he has NO shields on the config when he switches, he should have none when he switches back.
Shields ONLY recharge while you are in the config that needs recharging.

 

It could also be possible they quickly changed to the Ring (drone) formation to help get shields back, and then changed drone formation again. That's something I like doing a lot when I'm using the Pusat ship, since you can make some distance between slower ships.

Though you did say you were "JUST out of range", and of course what I said would be hard to pull off if don't have the breathing room(/space) to do it(so depends how long took to get to them). Other than what others have said, I know I'd try to make someone do it again - to see if they're actually using a bug/cheat and to better understand what could be going on. (like say if it's just due to different drone formations being used, that make it appear they have "full" shields again)


At the very least say a video/GIF showing it would make it more clear what exactly happens, instead of just explaining a situation that sounds like someone could be doing something shady(/found a way to do something). Of course with player names not showing or anything, but then again probably best to ask a mod before posting something like that lol.
