Changes to the General Terms and Conditions from 01.11.2016

• Ban on the use of anonymization services (e.g. proxies)
  • For accounting reasons we must ensure that we can assign payments from players to their physical location. The use of anonymization data (e.g. proxies) or other methods that conceal the player’s place of residence or habitual residence are now expressly prohibited in our games and services. Dose this include Privte Wifi. Any help on this matter will be appreciated. Thank you.

 

Private Wifi or VPN's can be used to alter the location of where a player is actually playing. So i would think it woudn't be alright. But the reason for the change in ToC is because people in for example the United States would create a proxy that would trick Darkorbit into thinking they were in brazil for example, and were able to buy massive amounts of uridium for Brazilian prices, which compared to the US Dollar is much much cheaper

If you are using your computer in the same place and not having the IP Address changed then you will not have a problem. This is for the cheaters who are hiding their machines from being tracked for illegal trafficking they are doing. Private Wi-Fi requires a password to make the connection but does not hide the IP Address of the machines signed into it.

thank you all with assisting -RatpacK- with their question. As correctly stated above, the main reason of this particular change is to prevent altering the players virtual location in order to get different/cheaper payment than he is supposed to have.
I cannot imagine players who do not use such methods to provide themselves unfair advantages over others being punished.

Do you, the original poster, have any further questions or may we close the thread?
