Great ideas to improve Dark Orbit

I been thinking today... what small changes could be done to greatly improve the game? Well your in luck! here is my top 10 items in random order that would greatly improve the experience of the game for it's users!! ...I suggest Dark Orbit pay attention... No... I DEMAND they pay attention and work to implement these minor improvements into the game ASAP!

1. Boxing can be so crowded, ships flying and fighting over each and every box is just annoying! Each box should take 5 seconds to pick up just like the Booty boxes do! Why do we need to pick them up so fast? What is the hurry?

2. This unlimited ship fuel is going beyond being unrealistic! The PET 10 always needs fuel to keep it flying why should my goli ship be any different? Even big boys need to start coughing up the cost of fuel perhaps 1-2 Uri every Min seems like a fair price!!!

3. High traffic roads should have tolls HECK maybe ALL gates should have a toll that feed back into the local economy! Everyone needs to pay their fair share! perhaps 100uri per gate jump seems pretty cheap! Heck why can't you shoot 100 struners or 50 lordkins before you venture beyond x2 map? It's really not that unrealistic!

4. Why do no taxes exist? Most of use already know we pay 20-40% of ALL our income to taxes to provide for bridges, roads and other needed services! Why is Dark Orbit void in this area? We demand to pay our taxes to the MMO EIC or VRU governments! Perhaps then we can help combat issues like lag with this extra uri!

5. being to log out of the game is just not fair! Players should have to pay for storage/parking fees for every hour they choose to park their ship at the base! Parking spaces are NEVER free! Why should Dark Orbit be any different? Prices should be based on supply and demand but 400-2000 uri per day seems fair or 50 uri per hour! Players should be able to park in maps like 4-4 but run the risk of being shot down while they are AFK. This way it encourages players to play more and to think again if they REALLY want to log off!

6. While sending messages can be free in most places but not always. Some cellphone carriers charge players based on the numbers of text messages they send, why should Dark Orbit be any different? Players should be able to send one line of chat message for a fee of 250 Uri. OR they can get a discount of 10uri per letter or 25 uri per word! I think that would be a great idea to help generate uri for the company. Players have to much Uri in the first place!

7. Repairing your ship is way to easy! Just a small Uri fee and your good to go, I think not! Dark orbit should install a required Ad watch/cool down time of 5min making players watch the ads to help out Dark Orbit and to get the full waiting experience! Just like taking your car to get repaired waiting is a fact of life, and so should it be here in Dark Orbit!

8. Why does Dark Orbit not charge a maintance fee for equipment? I been flying the SAME goli for years! Heck I seen airplanes get scrapped faster than that! Dark Orbit should require players to pay a small fee of 4,000 uri a year for yearly maintance AND 400 uri each month for up keep! Plus after 3 years the ship should self destruct! Also LF4's and BO'2's should also need maintance fees of 500 Uri a year and 50 uri each month with also a 3 year self destruct feature it's not fair for the players to be able to keep using the same guns and generators at 100% performance! Perhaps after 3 years the performance should be decreased!

9. Dark orbit needs to install billboards and sell ad space so they are better able to handle lag issues!! Every Alien boss should have a 3x5 Inch billboard above or below their name for players to see PLUS if they interact with the billboard they could get 10% MORE exp!!! I think that would be a fantastic idea! Players will still be able to play the game but DO will have some opportunity for added income to help with lag issues! Plus it's always exciting to find out what products I might want to buy!

10. Last but not least, Dark Orbit Should seek out sponsorship designs! Imagine the Big Mac Goli design that helps you carry more cargo, but with a slower speed. Or the Pepsi Veng Design that increases speed but lowers your sheilds! The possibilities are endless! Maybe the Burger King gate! Or how about the Walmart map!

Dark Orbit you need to get serious and work to implement these ideas RIGHT AWAY! Dark Orbit would greatly improve with more of these rules into effect!

But I do have a legitimate idea...

Bigpoint needs to set up one server and revert all updates back to 2008. Obviously we will have to keep the current game client but that doesn't affect the logistics of the game. They should advertise and have current players spread the word of the new server. I guarantee that server will be overpopulated in weeks. With the game in that reverted state, hard work and time actually pays off. Not to mention how affordable (compared to now) it would be for all the players. Things we're much easier and reasonable back then. One server, that's all they need for now to test it out. I'm sure old school DO players would love to join that server and play the game they once enjoyed.

 

Basically makes this game a Pay to Play. So I assume you are a multi-billionaire? With connections to the president?

no but thats the thing its NOT a pay to play it's a FREE GAME! you just should have to work a bit harder to collect URI it's to easy and people need to have a better gaming experience by being able to pay a realistic in game credit! I mean they give out FREE URI! in the boxes and every time you pop a NPC! How is that a pay to play game? That simply is not true I suggest you work your fair share to get your URI! The free handouts need to stop in Dark Orbit! Heck players get 200 uri every day simply by logging into the game for 5 days in a row! How is that a pay to play game? I think you are completely wrong!

I think SPSAT was referring to the OP. If BP would implement the OP's 10 ideas, you would have to pay to play. I don't think he means that the game is currently "pay to play."
Although, I wouldn't be afraid to say that the game's ranking system has a lot to do with how much one spends. Frankly, I don't mind, people deserve something for the resources they utilize for the game.

 

I think the game is not really pay-to-play but more realistically pay-to-win. Money players dominate the game. There are a few exceptions but that seems largely true to my experience.

 

how would this help gain players? 90% would quit the first 24 hrs if we had to pay to fly our ship, pay to enter a gate we allready payed for. You obviously aren't very smart. Please get off forums before you make a bigger idiot out of yourself.
