Hopefully an Idea to balance Offense and Defense

  1. What made the old days so fun was the fact that everyone worked together to do everything. Killing other players was a teameffort but these days, you can die pretty fast by one guy.

    My thought, (this is not a completely idea, will add or remove depending on feedback) is to raise base shields and HP to counterbalance the damage that many players are now doing.

    Back in the day, 1 vs 1s took a minute or two with x4. Now it only takes 10 seconds with RSBs.

    This update should not be something "purchaseable" other than the services and items you have now.

    For example:

    Ship Haul Pilot points should give more HP and Shield Engineering gives more shields.

    • BO2s give a bit more base shields. (maybe 15k or 20k per shield)
    • Each ship has its own increased HP. (example 256k HP for goli increased to 400k) or something like that.
    • People may not like this because it will make players more tanky. That is the point.

    All I am looking for is that same chance as before for players to be able to run across maps with 5 people attacking them with x3 or x4 and you have that chance to survive instead of getting blown to bits before you even have a chance to respond.

    This idea is to bring back team work but also still have that new damage that many players have that makes them "strong"
     
  2. Kind of like the Idea but don't think It goes far enough damage is too high. One person can melt away a mil in shields and 300k to 500k
    Hit points an 15 sec or less. They would have to make LF-4 more available also to pull it off.
     
  3. eh i kinda dont like it, and this is why. Yes, it does help people survive longer but then it takes away from the hunting. If every ship you encounter is gonna take like 1 min to destroy, you kinda lose interest in that. After all, that is why we have the option to upgrade our shields, and drones. not to mention shield and hp boosters too.Either keep it the way it is, or remove upgrades altogether lol
     
  4. To be honest. IT doesnt take away the interest. You get more groups to fight. This is how fighting was back in the old client. long fights at high speed. We loved it. But now, everything is solo and die fast.
     
  5. Don't forget about the high stress levels that are expressed in the chat, especially if it was more than a 1v1. People get so agitated when they pop, more if it is by a group, unless it is one group against another group. I kind of like the solo hit and run method, guilty of using it, but at the same time have learned not to get agitated when its used on me. People are so touchy, and that is why interest in the game dwindles. As long as people think that they are always "top gunner" they are wide open for disappointment. Most players are not really interested in how it was on here years ago. Most players you see now were not playing then. Those that were, however, seem to be on all the time and I don't think the updates or upgrades really affect their mood about how long they last. Play the game, stop getting stressed out over it, and if you have trouble popping someone, or finding someone to pop for your quest just be happy you could at least log on. :rolleyes:

  7. Hello! The hit points have to go WAY up...:cool: Forget the shields - it has been nerfed :rolleyes:

    Name a battle of animals that die that quickly - one shot (other than hunters with rifles) - at most it takes two minutes. Watch wild animals duke it out. The only one I saw that died quickly was fighting in the trees and the fall to the ground killed the monkey.
     
  8. oh yeah, we are all nature buffs. Come on we are space cadets. Actually the majority of players are space cadets wanting to be playing Star Blazers with a wave motion gun. Come on, the upgrades are really to give everyone more to do within the game. Get shields, get weapons, upgrade them both, get boosters for both, if you have top weapons with upgrades and boosters, and you attack someone with top shields with upgrades and boosters, hope they don't have a backup system to way-lay you, like buddies or pets that rep them. LOL

  9. I disagree with this entire post just about.

    A non-purchasable update like giving a goliath 144k more hitpoints would not stop the paying players from killing anyone. That's just a few more shots for some people. That just makes it harder for free player to keep up, damage-wise.

    I liked how the old DO was too, but the game has changed for the better. There was and exciting fights to like then, but now there's a higher damage cap and more upgrades and variables to make a fight quick and exciting now. In any case, you should not be able to run to a port with 5 decent people shooting you and survive...

    And lastly, I think the game could facilitate for newer and weaker players more, but not quite like this. If you double boost hp, shield, and damaga, you are a HELL of a lot better off in whatever ship or strength. I don't do this often, and I envy those who do. But you know what it's all about when you hear paying players whining in chat 'oh I was only single-boosted' that's when you realize how much of a difference it makes.

    There is no way to close the gap between free and playing players. Otherwise no one would buy uri. With plenty of hard work and time put in, there's not much of a gap. But you can't give everyone an equal chance when people are paying for better stuff.

Group fighting was one thing that had to change.Back on old client you had 30 golis constantly running together to pop 1 ship at a time as fast as they could...And if you weren`t in a click with certain clans you were left a loner.Which meant you had to search for 1v1s or find other ships low on hp and bail..over, and over.There really isnt any skill in 50 ships shooting 1 now is there?

    Game has plenty room to grow provided BP wants to see it grow.So try to find better ideas that don`t nerf pvp altogether.Something like an engine that gives the normal 10 speed but maybe a slight increase in accuracy, evasion, hp repair rate or something to help both attackers and defenders.
