I swear I know you guys will say that wont work but try it. - I decided to stay with D.O. because tho everyone was messing with me someone was willing to help me...#Save the noobs

DarkOrbit make LF4. DarkOrbit make Zeus and Apis. DarkOrbit make upgrade system. DarkOrbit make Havoc and Hercules.
Players are at fault for getting UFE items, which DO created, then use the equipment for PvP? Hmm, interesting.

Most of the people who left this game in late 2011 / early 2012 were not newbies, they were FE or close to FE. They left because they did not want anything to do with how the game was being monetized or the massive increase in botting from people who did not want to take a loan out to get UFE. You cannot blame players at all for the decline of this game, the players did not create the situation we are in - the decisions by whoever was in charge in 2011 did that.

Hey, I am a newbie, I pay for this game and guess what, putting $500 to this game still get you shot down and here you think new player will stand a chance just by helping them.

  4. All in all, everyone gets shot down, but I agree that it is harder on the new pilots out there. They have no clue how to prepare for the attack. I see them all the time, barely 30 minutes into the game trying to take shots at veteran players, from the same company. Nobody likes to get shot at by anyone and the veteran just lets them know how much they don't like it. Even before they can get to level 10 they are discouraged but the OP is correct when saying that veteran players need to grab that new pilot by the wing and show them what they need to do. That UFE equipment will be out there, but not everyone killing the new guys in the beginning has any of it, save some upgrades. Yes, players are at fault when they do not encourage initiates to go down the right path, and for discouraging them from sticking around more than 20 minutes. I often wonder how many new players have tried to throw their monitors/laptops across the room after being popped for the 20th time in 10 minutes. I remember when I first started. I really had to remember that there were two other companies because I was being nailed to the map by fellow company members left and right. Now three years later I am trying to guide new players in all companies to start their skylabs, which I didn't start for 2 or 3 months, and on how to save uri and bid on equipment in the auction, another 3 months delay for me. I don't complain about a lack of newbies as I see them all the time but I am not trying to work out my hunt quests either. But seriously, those that are complaining left and right about there being nobody to shoot should just throttle back and go help some of the new guys in your own company. You will calm down afterward, and hopefully decide to go attack someone on your level.o_O

  5. Indeed, BP has made mistakes but the community is the one to blaim why new players don't stay. Of course it should not be this way, game should be so that the community can't ruin gaming experience but unfortunately it does and we should adapt to that. In 2008 there were big clans in which bigger players helped weaker ones and everyone was able to find friends immediately after they created an account.
These days big players (mostly) are just mean to newbies and act like they own the world.

Personally I am planning on creating a clan in near future which would allowe everyone to join and I would help them as well as I can. I have seen so many new players begging for clan in chat and then they just say something sad and leave and never come back :( If they could have found a clan they would have stayed.

I think that if someone is not even trying to help new players then he should not complain. Players can make this game good for new players if they want to. Even 1 person who is helping noobs can make an absolutely massive difference.

Yes BP is the one to blaim. But lets say... If a a volcano erupts and a city falls into chaos and people start robbing stuff, can they just say: "but the volcano caused this not us", no they can't. Volcano is the one that caused the situation but people do not have to be dicks. Same with DO, BigPoint caused the loss of players but players do not have to cry about it but start doing something themselfs.

BP could stop slow death of this game by investing 20 minutes of their time ....if they wanted

  7. Your correct its not the players fault the game is declining but when you first join a game and someone instantly kills you at a port and wont let you leave or just insults you and tells you to quit it does make the game seem less fun, In no way im saying its the players fault for the decline im just saying that we are not all but a part of the reason newbies don't stay.

I apologize to all of you I didn't mean to say it was the community's fault for decline im just saying that we play a part in not letting newbies stay with bullying them both in chat and on the maps Yes I get it you got mission but Really not letting a brand new player leave a port is plain mean. Like I said im sorry I didn't mean to say it was the communitys fault for any of BP failure in getting new people I only means to say we needed to help newbies instead of making them quit.

    Great post Ultra
    Two bits of advice ;
    1) Join a clan and get a buddy system going, so someone is watching your back
    2) If you get bullied / insulted, report it in chat, name and shame - and ask for help dealing with it. Your company members have rank, and with rank comes a little responsibility, ie call in the big guns.

As for community vs individual, find the community and stick with it - as a noob pilot you also have to make an effort to become a part of something, it is not solely down to others to help you out. (but you know this, so neways...). At the same time, it has to be said - $500 on this game is nothing, Ultra. Your top accounts here have spent waaaay more than that, in fact they have spent silly money... Also, I will not mention anything whatsoever about many undeleted botted accounts, which are super powerful. Many. So - the game started utilising microtransactions to fund the business infrastructure. These transactions grew in size when the range of products grew ( as described by Okapi32 above ). Profits doubled yearly. They found their European market shrank, but those who remained spent stupid money. Its Easy, Ultra. Spend more money dude, do more gates, buy more designs, upgradeupgradeupgrade and most importantly SPEND.

Popping Noobs through lack of targets - PSK might like to fly around GB1 on a few PvP quests ( I know you have a ship on GB1 PSK ), behold! Marvel at the vast empty expanse of space! Oh I see - that's my fault obviously . You spend good Uri on boosters and creds on lab items, then see them drain down to nothing whilst you are, what? Flying around admiring the scenery?? Come on. You're going to find a target, and find it fast. That is how it works and we all know it. If the uppers are empty, then check the lowers.

I never thought I'd see the day when I could fly a circuit through enemy territory ( and comb each map pretty thoroughly ) and end up on the map I'd started from, without seeing one single pilot. The PvP quests need totally revamped to reflect the empty skies.

Also, they should extend corporate protection to more noob pilots - the game mechanics should protect the weak from the strong.

I want to see more newbies in the Orbit, see the game recover and grow and thrive as I have a real soft spot for this game, and the camaraderie and friendship formed through it. I hope you stick it out Ultra.

    best,

  9. Hang on, Hang on, working on that last stitch. Hard to do while laughing. I had to log in also to see I still need 8 of 10 kills from quest I got 8 months ago. Only that is not from lack of targets, but lack of strength. I have plenty of PVE to take care of provided I can live long enough, LOL. I agree with the corporate protection extension. Also, trying to think, does that keep the noob from firing on the other players. What level would really be right for a noob to have pvp missions? My pvp mission was a bonus mission and I am not sure that I was even lvl 10 when I got it. I do know I didn't have the power to go after anyone on my own.

Man, dropped my needle in GB1, need to grab my spear and go look for it.

  10. If you can afford to throw your laptop/monitor across the room...DO has space for you. BP will suggest other games to throw at.

I think they draw/create/make up stuff/ - pull a salary/celery. If they played this game ;-) No comment.

  11. lol we don't help new players you try helping a new player get 35mill uri its the players right to spend his game how he wants we don't wanna spend out fun helping out new players that could take a few years to get them to ufe stats yes i will take all the blame :S

Well, glad you got a good laugh neways Sundance - although hard to see from this what it is you disagree with. So you think there is a wealth of targets for lower level PvP missions on GB1, but as you say , you were not strong enough to take what targets there actually were. Why was that again? Ah yes. There weren't any lower level pilots to hunt. That issue is at the core of this thread. Check the mission roster. The PvP missions kick in quite soon, don't you think? And there are quite a lot of them.
As for what level noob pilots should be introduced into PvP, I don't think that's a problem - just disparity between dmg capabilities of different pilots. You wouldn't enter your 11 year old martial arts enthusiast beginner into a nth dan world championship tournament would you. No, but you might organise a club tournament amongst similarly experienced individuals.
Recently I took my lvl15 veng into 3/4 map to farm and do missions. On a whim, I accepted 2 PvP missions. As luck would have it, a level18 goli was hunting in there. He tried three times to pop me, each time I popped him (after a lot of dancing and to-ing and fro-ing lol). Well, I got 3 PvP quests completed thanks to his perseverence. I thought, like, wow - he must be desperate lol. Yeh - I know the feeling lol.

Hope you found your needle ;)

  13. And i am sick about people complaining UFE's to be the reason for leaving Newbies.

There are so freaking much reasons for Newbies to leave, i guess beeing killed by UFE's is the smallest Problem. In Fact most people see what's going on, they read what's going on and they leave because of that.

What would you think about DO as Newbie if you read all that topics:

    - Why the Hell is the Game lagging so hard?
    - Can you please fix those Client Bugs?
    - Can you please ban Botters?
    - Can you please ban Buguser's?
    - Why do JPA Cheaters get no Punishments?
    - Why do others pay 80 € less then me for the same Stuff?

So much you can write further. The sad Fact is that nothing will change. It's the whole Package BP created in the Last few Years. It starts with All Buguers and ends with the most liked and subscribed Youtubers which abuse all Bugs they can do and don't get any Punishments for it while not even hiding it in their Movies.

That's the main reason why I as "UFE" stopped and won't continue.

I am sick about BP's handling with that Stuff and i am just tired about it. BP can do as much as they want for getting new Player's - Games which are mainly abused by Cheaters never had an long Lifetime.

  14. Bottom line is, BP needs to get a grip when it comes to accommodating new players.

My reasoning? Combo attacks from Ubers are now over 200k, i got jumped by two ubers and saw over 500k come off my ship, thats pretty steep and insta pop for newbies.

Someone in forums mentioned a mechanism (sorry i forgot your name) that partially protects newbies from Ubers hunting in lowers, that is a great idea and gives newbies a fair chance to escape, which is only fair.

    SAVE THE NOOBS

  15. such a shame tho this game used to be very noob friendly. i remember when i got started it was 8 iris and that was all you needed lol
