Kuiper gate feedback

  1. Cont.'d the Kuiper gate in a basic way un-FE/newb ship and spent most of my time repping due to those long range rockets :eek: Didn't have ship built up, so spent most of my time building and upgrading the ship. Started up the Skylab - man, prom and sep is important in this gate. Made it to wave 9/54. o_O Haha a NPC with aegis/solace ability haha. The NPCs don't run to the corners as usual. All in all it is a nice twist - seems to be a paid/spin ToT for it GG. 'Warning' a huge ammo drainer too.

Just my thought on the gate - I personally enjoyed it for the most part, but I really felt it was rather annoying having to wait for certain waves to spawn as someone mentioned above, and afterwards being flooded with npcs in a short amount of time; The gate seemed a bit challenging but considering I used practically an FE ship, I dont think it's too hard for the weaker ships as I was never really close to popping and did the whole gate in one go
     
  3. The gate is EASY till wave 43 and starting at wave 43 it becomes a major drain on the ship and without UFE HP and Shield you can not survive. Having 12 waves of NPC's spawn before you can kill a single wave is what I am complaining about. As this is a test server I would have thought DO would have TRANSFERRED YOUR PRIMARY account equipment into the server to get a better feel for the feelings of the gate. Having to rebuild EVERYTHING from ground ZERO is not giving a TRUE perspective of what can be done in this gate.

    I used an FE (equipment only no BIO) and was unable to get past level 43 except for killing about 10 of the NPC's that spawned in the 12 waves that hit all at one time. The EMPORER and his Rocket Launcher along with the number of Soldier Rockets hitting me while dragging the swarm without hitting them took out my shields on both configs and I had to run to rep before I popped. Thus I spent 45 minutes trying to waste ammo killing things that repped the damage I caused instead of popping. I stand by my comments to limit the spawning in MAP 5 to 4 waves at a time. I am not saying wait till all NPC's are dead but am saying don't spam spawn NPC's before we have the ability to kill at least 1 wave of previously spawned waves, killing Rocketeer and Specialist counts as killing a wave, but having (I assume 5 Soldiers) being spawned every 30-45 seconds for 4 waves puts too many rockets hitting you without being able to hit them.


    I do not feel singled out, but as the TEST SERVER is open for input on the KUIPER GATE and we are having to use NEW ACCOUNTS to do so, want to make my point from this perspective. IF I had my MAIN account trying to do this my input might be different. I have been playing off and on for 5 years or longer and have just recently spent money trying to become UFE but as I found NO LF-4's or Zeus Parts on the special days or with special keys decided I was wasting my money doing so.

    I also know that different people will have different perspectives and this is why DO created a FEEDBACK thread for the input from those perspectives. I have seen too many UFE looking for people to do HADES gate and see too many saying they can not help because they are in gates, and this is why I have made statements about the "WALLETS" not assisting the NEWBS like they used to (prior to the addition of the new gates) and thus assume they must be doing this or HUNTING NEWBS as they are definitely not in the maps (lower maps) where the NEWBS need protecting from other company UFE's. Chat used to be full of people HUNTING enemy invaders and now it is full of people HUNTING enemies in their maps, leaving our maps unprotected.

    I just think that adding items that only the "WALLETS" can enjoy is pushing the NEWBS away from the game and it needs to be remembered that the NEWB is the FUTURE WALLET, if they hang around long enough to transform. IF the gates worked on a buffer allowing for LEVEL and EQUIPMENT to determine the damage caused by NPC's it might get more NEWBS to be able to improve and enjoy the game more. AGAIN JUST MY OPINION.

Basically what I meant was that the account I used there was way weaker than my main which btw is not even semi-ufe yet - the gate was challenging after wave 43 I agree, but certainly not impossible for a regular FE, at least for me since I did not lose a single life nor have I been close to popping as I previously mentioned(once again, a standard FE account on the test server)
     
  6. Okay, finally read through this. I used to complain a lot about the test server. Oh, who am I kidding I still do. However DO has been quite generous over the past few months and as such I was able to get my Ship to the same specs as on my main server. Pet may never make it to level 3 gear/prot. Skylab will take another year or so. It would be nice if we could get to the back page at least to work on that a little more often but not holding my breath. I have also managed to get my BIO fully set for PVE. Just managed that after finishing the gate. That being said:

    The Kuiper Gate not for the SUB-FE, at least not if you want to finish it in good time. What I found is if you want to do it and stay alive without being UFE, you tag a npc and move around. That last map, you wait on the emperor and launcher. They are not going anywhere and will stay in the middle unless things change. Start with the easy stuff. I start with the easiest or fastest npc as they stay right on me anyways. With their speed, I was glad I didn't even have kami as I would have looked toward death too often. Just start with one and keep moving. More powerful NPC's move slower and I don't move toward them as I am getting the speed demons. Don't be in a hurry to kill stuff, as that is too problematic.

    Now once I got that pace down, it was like the Tunnel, long and boorrriiinnng. I did find I could just use credit ammo for the most part, and only really need uri ammo for uber-sibs and above. I am sure most players like to fly through the gates. I don't know how anyone can do it 2+ times in a day, unless combo/kami from start to finish. At any rate, as much as I like the game and look forward to the next new thing, this gate calls for snacks, caffiene, and TS to keep eyes open. Oh and rated FE and above only.

Gate is fun when you can run it as must gates are, at first...but with all we have share here the only concern I have left is how often we will be able to do this gate...Like only parts from logins?Or gate part chances be much harder?And other than that its a pretty well rounded gate for FE and up.

  9. Seems that DO is opening the TEST server on a weekly basis but not giving any notice prior to it being opened. Check the server selection when you log in to see if the Test is listed. It is the way I find out if it is up.

    Hey guys,

    the current focus lies on getting the Kuiper gate out of the door. As we have made some changes to the configuration, we are running a last test today focusing on the question: is the gate finishable and are there NPC that cannot be targeted.

    If you encounter one of these issues, please let us know here.

    @Question of Test Server availability: We can't really schedule these tests as we never know if and when something creeps up that we want some public feedback on.

    There are scheduled tests when we need feedback on balancing and stuff but in cases like today, we need feedback from a wider audience before releasing the feature on live.

    So as much as we appreciate players having fun on test and trying out things they can't in the live game, we really, really would love to focus on specifics. :)

  13. i did not got time to complete the whole gate the server got closed when i refresh page. but i did like 28 waves ( uber-sib )
    everything was ok for me.

  15. I already commented in chat about my issues... none serious, but that is not for me to say...

    NOT a noob gate but we are not all noobs and noobs can work throught the other gates to build a ship for this gate
     
  16. I did get the chance to finish the gate the last time the server was up took a little bit with a none uber FE ship but was fun and interesting. Thanks D.O for the gate look forward to doing it on my main account.
