Latest Chrome - Flash Player Problem

Chrome Version 42.0.2311.90 dev-m

Recently, Google Chrome released an update. And also Adobe released an update for Flash Player.

(NOTE: This guide is intended for those experiencing this problem, please do not change anything if your browser is behaving normally!)

It is currently unknown what has caused this issue, but searching found that the most recent update of Google Chrome to the version above has caused this issue.

On installing these updates (Or Google Chrome on its own), Adobe Flash Player is no longer detected by Google Chrome's Plugins page. Only Pepper Flash is discovered, and if you have Pepper Flash disabled due to it being rubbish, you have a slight situation of having no flash player to play DarkOrbit or any flash based game. But if you enable Pepper Flash, you and I both no, it runs like poop.

So, here is the work around until Google Chrome fixes the problem:​

1) Navigate your Chrome browser to: chrome://flags/#enable-npapi (this is an internal URL of Chrome which modify's Chrome's settings or flags).

2) Click Enable so it changes to Disable (as shown below):

3) Now click "Relaunch Now", located at the bottom left of the page (as shown below):



4) Adobe Flash Player will now be detected by Google Chrome again. Of course, you will have to navigate to chrome://plugins to re-disable Pepper Flash to leave Adobe Flash Player to handle all flash content.

5) This is only a work around until Google Chrome fix it.​
