More Bang for your Buck

Everyone knows that darkorbit is known as one of the most expensive pay to win games.

I believe it is time to revise the market area of the game and start thinking about how to make more money for the company but also greatly benefiting the players with the options.

Everyone knows that darkorbit makes all its money during mega happy hour.

And that makes sense. You will see more people at the grocery store buying things at half price or things that day "buy one, Get one free". But you do know why Walmart and Costco make the most money? Because they give you more for less and more people buy from these stores.

Ultimately. My idea is simple. Give more for less and I bet you my entire year's salary that Big point's gross income will at least double.

Back in the day, we had thousands of players at peak time. The game got too expensive if you choose to pay. I'm a free player, I always have. I only pay for premium and rebates.

If this was 2009 where 1m uri would get you everything you need. Then I would pay at least 100$ every other week to get ammo and build gates and be happy. But today that is only the case if you have 15m worth of uridium on your account. When I say "worth of uridium", I don't mean bought 15m, I mean all the equipment you got would cost 15m uridium to get if you bought it with uridium.

Don't lower the price, increase the output.

100$ on mega today on a new account won't give you much. Only a basic FE ship with 8 drones.

Make the bank page offer 100$ for 990k uridium everyday. Then on mega, give us x3 that.

I swear. You will get a bigger profit. Those big wallet warriors will still pay their normal amounts, if not more since they get more and also, more free players (like myself) will start paying for uridium regularly.

how bout a mega super ultra happiest hour, where you get not 4x not 5x but 6x the uri , but maybe that would be too much because it could give you your 47th-49th pp if u been playing for a month or so . I do like the idea that we should get more for less :l I see that prem, rebate, and the 100$ option are the only ones that is being brought due to effectiveness and most saving, but those options are so old and need to be updated. I use to be a wallet warrior like crazy, but I realize the only fun of the game is earning the love of other players and getting your uri the slow way.

The problem is clearing cache...all that data has to be 'reloaded' (chuckles) <-self pun..., but regardless all that data streaming costs money. Yes, I run prem. and BBD )-)( and rebates.

 

Altering the price of uridium sounds like a good idea but your at risk of alienating all the current players. If they start playing with stuff like that everyone will be absolutely furious (myself included, I would want compensating). A mistake they made was re-branding the game as Dark Orbit Reloaded but changing very little aspects of the game. The only method I can see resurrecting Dark Orbit is development of a Dark Orbit 2.0 (same principals as this Dark Orbit), but a large redesign and rethink of both in game features and financial features.
Why are big games like Call of Duty fun? Because you log in, join a game and fight with the same equipment against other players. You register on this site, and unless you put serious cash into the game and weeks, months, years of time you're not going to get anywhere. A simple truth is having a in game currency system that requires the user to spend ridiculously large amounts of money to get anywhere in game will eventually drive them game into the ground.

 

Call of Duty...U are pretty even right off the bat. That is the difference between DO and CoD.

 

Your completely right. Offering more for less is a sound business model that would make BP a lot more money for sure. Also make it so the lower prices still get a good amount of uri. People would much rather pay $20 5 times than $100 once

 

And the game would die even faster than it is now. Wallet warriors and ufe have done their damage and this idea will be the last coffin nail needed.

I love it, I hope this thread actually happens.
There should be a festival in the OP's honor over this idea.
Updates should be made every hour in global with the names of the forum members backing this idea as well as their comments.

 

I'm with Dreadlok, but they should also sweeten the deal further by allowing the admins ships that aren't seen as often in shop like the flying saucer or UFO looking one that seems to hold 30 guns and generators.
This idea needs to be in game soon.

the fact that some of us only pay here and there, especially with cheats and garbage servers ruining gameplay, if i buy say 3mil uri for $100 once maybe a month, and someone else buys $10 worth of 3mil 10 times, that makes no difference in gameplay and still ruins it for us.

 

not really, somebody else is still going to find ways of cheating the system to get the amount of money they have to spend to buy in game currency . but this would help everybody else . since you can buy the uridium cheaper ,and you can buy more of it , it would help you ,and since most of the wallet warriors will get there either way . they might just not have to spend enough money ,not if somebody is ufe ,it doesn't make any difference if he/she buys more uridium or less ,they are still ufe

 

This idea is to help out those who can't afford to drop 5000$ on this game.

100$ today won't give you anything. It did years ago and you only needed to pay 100$ every month to get all the ammo and gear you need.

Today, 100$ worth of Uri is a joke and probably get you a few gates and some gear towards UFE. 100$ is not even a enough to buy 9th or 10th drone at full price.

This idea is not meant to make wallet warriors stronger, matter of fact, it won't make much a difference towards them because they are already spending thousands of dollars a year. It is to give more to those who can't afford to play and want a better jumpstart to the game with their cash.

Alot of players don't pay fit uridium because the price is not worth it. This idea will make uri purchases more worth the money.

 

I like the idea but I don't think bp will support it. A majority of the best players has paid at least $1,000+ already, I feel they would feel cheated

 

If anything. I don't know why players eld think they are getting cheated. It's like gas prices.

For the longest time. I been paying almost 4 dollars a gallon for gas. Now the price has dropped to $2.19. Yes people for the longest time been saying that he gas price is outrageous and yet they buy it all the time. For some people, they only fill their tanks half way. But now that the prices are lower, people will pay for a full tank and not complain.

I don't think players will be mad that the prices are lower or your getting more for the same price. If anything, they will be happy that the most they regularly spend is now giving them more.

 

It seems that a few random times DO has tried intentionally or unintentionally idk, To run what i call Uber Happy hour,
A Mega happy hour in conjunction with a regular happy for x5 uri, The first time it happened they said it was a mistake and they generously let every keep there x5 uri on there accounts. Perhaps they were "testing the waters" so to speak on increasing uri amounts to boost sales. The only down side to this is that DO is gonna keep adding more worthless upgrades to the game if they increase uri amounts in sales... After all the Dark Orbit mandate is how to make players spend the most uri and give them the least amount of benefit for it. Such as bio, pet protocols, upgrades, etc....

This idea is so wacky it works, not the super duper turbo mega ultra happiest hour, but OP's idea, it makes clear and perfect sense. They may actually see me buying uridium, but the fact is that at the minute its not worth it. Even 10mil uri wont get the ship ive got, and im still getting trashed and still alot more for me to buy to get to uber, not to mention the cash only deals.

 

Here's the thing, this idea would be great as a perk for Premium package subscribers.
I believe because D.O. would probably only offer it to the ones that have proven their willingness to spend money in this game.

Yes the idea is sound but it will probably only be offered to that group only.
As u said it is good biz sense but so is keepin the ones payin happy to begin with.
That is what makes this idea a coffin nail.

I understand ur goal but i see their goals as well, which path do really believe they'll take?
