Multi-Company Clans - What to do?

    steviray ... What is left of the Original Developers of this game have moved on and so has most of the IT coders ... All that is left are maybe a few good Die-Hard Originals that have some Respect and Moral Compass and Intelligence and get paid for the everyday operation of this game and over the years have stepped up to an abandoned hand-me-down [understaffed overworked] group of folks from all around the world that try and in most cases stopping the 'Bad-Guys' from destroying this game.
    Until you sit in 'Their Shoes' ... The Merge and MCC as well as all the game features and 'Alternative' methods of 'Legal' gameplay continue it is up to 'us' members to assist in the 'Future' of this games survival and in a positive progress that I hopefully meets my standards of Fair Game Play with rules of 'Conduct' for all to obligated to .... JMO ----> to be continued...
     
  2. First, I am sorry for being lazy cuz i dont have read the whole thread.
    Because of this i am not certain if this was proposed already but i think the simplest solution for the problem would be:

    - the clan has to be a specific company (the company of the leader by default but can be changed) and all joining members will have thier company temporarily changed to the clans company (e.g. clan is VRU and some MMO member join the clan and they get changed to VRU for the time they are in the clan)
    - the members which company has changed this way have to stay for at least 30 days in the clan or they have to face consequences for leaving early like losing 10% of thier honor also labeling them "Outlaw" reducing thier PvP-DMG output by 50% for a week.
    - the clan leader should also be careful accepting members of foreign companys as they should have to pledge for them in form of 20% of thier honor which will be removed if they kick out the member before the 30 days have passed

    for all the cases where a penalty can happen there should be a warning before one can proceed (e.g. the clan leader accepting a foreign companys player as member)

    I do try and put myself in their shoes. Despite how i feel about the game ive still been willing to contribute to the game. I do like the direction the game is going. Things need to be tweaked, streamlined, refined a little. But the pieces are there. I do think of the guys behind the game. Trying to put together a workable game one bit at a time, trying to satisfy millions of people with millions of different ideas on how the game should evolve. It disappoints me further tho. BIGPOINT had a good thing at one time. As seen with their explosive growth in the early years and their news making release of the Zues drone. But instead of taking that investmest and building a stable well structured game environment they catered to the "gamer" element and now the game is Broke. This isnt Eve or Warcraft. There arent enough activities and versatility within the game to allow this type of game play to go unchecked. Players dont have a chance anymore. Not like they did in the early years. Im the occasional Die-Hard player. What i say comes from years of poking my head in the door to see whats going on and waste a few hundred hours and take a break. Im not privy to all the conversation that goes on. Thank You for the insights. its about time for me to go harass the the "gamers" on my server, cant kill em but i can try and slow them down. When i run outta ammo, i guess ill start chuckin spare parts maybe ill hail-mary an engine and cause a blowout. LMAO.

  5. D O has 2 options when dealing with the MCC.

    1. Allow them to continue as they are and allow the game to die to one server

    2. During the MERGE Process they leave one of the empty servers to be run by ALL of the BULLY MCC's. I am not saying all MCC's need to be left behind some are just friends that play together but do not want to be in the same company, for different reasons. I know when I started I wanted to leave MMO due to the same company killers, so I created a second account in VRU and found a good Clan and had fun but then the Clan went Inactive and so much for the fun.

    The whole thing is these people have had the run of the game for so long (since the Old School Top Rank fell) and been part of D O as long as I can remember. The disbandment of them is not going to change anything in the way they play. You will have the same people doing the same thing they do now with the exception that they now have 150 (3 Company times 3 Clans) members instead of 50. They need to be left in their entirety on a separate server to control, if they can, like they want but has to be separate from the mass populous of the game players.
     
  6. here is something few of you mentioned, the amount of npc s you have to kill to get uri and how much uri you need to become ufe now. a simple way to fix is by adding different npc's and doubling the current npc rewards, it has been one of the main things that has been consistent in the game and it is time for a change in order to adapt to current demands, most mcc clans get together so they can farm and gain uridium because there are only a few profitable ways of acquiring it ,otherwise you need to buy it or use programs like some players chose to do ...

    its not rocket science ban the MCC and make it so 1 company can only shoot the 2 opposing companies, simple.
     
  8. I guess I'm old fashion. I never cheated on school exams or anything that I considered IMPORTANT. So why would I cheat on a game that is meant to be a fun competition of skill and strategy. Yes , I get popped a lot , but , as I have progressed I have had my share of kills too.
    There's a certain satisfaction you get when you win without cheating that I don't think you can get when you do cheat. ('cause it's not really a win). I enjoy the game and I just hope that DO will give me some time to catch up with all the new stuff they have added before adding anything new that gives the "Wallet Warriors " the advantage.

    We do nothing because DO does nothing. We had made suggestion, asked for help, and tried to come together to help each other. Does it help? NO! We are on our own because DO has abandon us to the MCC's. They have the money and it is all about the money. So DO won't help. Wallet Warriors Wins.

  12. I don't know if people have already suggested what I'm about to suggest, but in order for tge moderators to understand they should know some background on me. I am a college student with a very tight financial situation and when I play darkorbit, I do so casually. I'm sure many gamers have the same perspective. I have sort of lost faith that the game will become enjoyable again because every time I come back the same problems are noticible. In order for an online game to bring in revenue, it must appeal to casual gamers. For that reason I propose they make the following changes.

    If they want their game to live they need to do about 7 things: 1. Get rid of multicompany clans 2. Only allow alliance between clans belonging to the same company 3. Have a free company switch period so that friends can choose where they want to be 4. Make events more doable for people who work full time and are only able to play in evenings 5. Segregate people under 18 and people over 18 to prevent harassment and bullying of younger players. 6. Add more things to do, more maps, etc. Instead of having quests that demand more of the same thing 7. Change the cube respawn time, or add more cubes on x-6 maps, or add more npcs like cubes so that the farming isn't congested

    granted this may make some players mad but it is something everyone can work with. On my server, the harassment goes too far and there is just nothing for new players

    I'm not a PvP type of person. I normally don't look for other players. I hate it, that most of my mission are just that. I have almost stopped my missions because I have to attack other players. I want to kill aliens. The mission I have for aliens are on 4-x, and I don't like going there because MCC are hiding out there waiting for you. Then they pounce on you when your are weak. "Easy Kill"

    If I do attack other players because they are attacking my clan (my 1st server) and/or company (1st&2nd server). If they are attacking a weak "newbie" I'm there I don't care what company then. I just want to help. I have step in and help other companies when attacking aliens too. When helping against MCC, I usually don't survive but I try. I haven't found the secret of good balance of weapons, ammo, and shields. I'm still working on it.

    MCC is there and I try to stand up to them, (as I run from them) and fight back. It isn't much, but when you have a pack of wolves at your door what can you do? I like them to go away and DO do their job and enforcing their rules. They won't and we will ask why again.

  15. The developers should not initiate a new project until the server merges are finished. Multi-company clans only exist because the servers are not as active as they once were. If the servers become populated again the problem might solve itself. A less intrusive approach to the situation.

  16. Here's the question: which came first? the chicken or the egg? It seems one can make a case for MCCs causing dead servers and vice versa. Logically you can't fix one without fixing the other. But what really caused both is the failure of bigpoint to get rid of botters, cheaters, and exploiters. People are not willing to play a game that they either feel a need to use bots or give up their social life to get anywhere. All of that must change
     
  17. Double rewards day and the Laserstorm event have balanced this game to where it is no longer necessary to use a bot to get ahead. Now it takes roughly 5-8 hundred hours to build a semi-ufe ship. Do you think it should take less time? With the oncoming server merges and players calling for a new method of farming, besides cubing, Darkorbit is taking drastic steps in the right direction. As far as the botters, cheaters, and exploiters are concerned, I'm not sure if they will ever be able to permanently fix this problem because new forms of cheating are always being developed. We just have to play our part and report anything suspicious.

  20. MCC? How can (anyone) see this as a "good thing"? I'm speaking directly to DarkOrbit-
    3 companies. Your a "defender!" of which company you choose to be part of, isn't that what the game basically promotes? Am I wrong?

    I started playing in 2010: stronger players would be called upon (help clear) lowers / uppers when a group of enemies would be present, this made up a large part of fun for those who are strong and those who aren't so powerful. Stronger players (back then) protected there companies with pride, Noobs where inspired to grow to help those who come to there rescue. I was that noob who decided to be part of the defenders group so I driven to grow! (Then came the bots)... Bots players helped ship kills and I believe DO now has it mostly under-control.
    Darkorbit, MCC's are a big problem! What does it promote? I'm not seeing a positive attribute!... Dead servers started off of with greed (stronger lasers, added iris's, stronger ships etc) so now Noobs wouldn't have a chance- but that too; has been taken cared of by many factors. Lot of sort out ships can now be built and ships that can give an edge on escape are reasonably obtained (bids)
    Lost of friendship? This made me laugh to hard! "Bull****" comes to mind (sorry, I bleep out the word myself) 3 COMPANIES is my answer, pick one!! I made close friends defending my company, they left for other companies and till today we remain friends, in fact our friendship grew and they returned! So why in the world would you (Darkorbit) allow companies combine through clans? If that's the case then eliminate EIC, MMO, VRU companies and make it a open space fly game, this way clans rule openly (Not a good idea, just like MCC)..

    Plain and simple:
    EVERYONE is given 1 chance to choose there company to part of with no penalty (no time given to switch) so one can choose immediately or wait to see how things turn out once merge happens.
    MCC are no longer available and Green tags can only be given to company clans, yellow tag can be given to any clan (any Companies) but automatically lost of shields 20% or 50% preferred to whoever is in (both sides) of clan.

    Many have left because of the Arena challenge lost, so you all know there's cheaters! That's good, find a way to bring that back, maybe open locations where the top 50 fighters need to show up using (DarkOrbit) assigned computers (find the state there in and use a community center to mount up equipment) "no lame excuses" if your a good fighter you'll earn the right!

    Bring "FUN" back and you'll find friendship "new and old"
