New Veng Design Pusat: What Am I Missing Here?

So the new Veng design, Pusat came out on my server today.

At first it made sense (kind off) that the new veng design would be slightly more powerful in comparison to Goli since it had no ability and the already lower hp of the vengeance ship.

However I ran some quick numbers...

Goli with 5% bonus damage:

15 LF4s on ship: 2250.

20 LF4 on drones: 3000

Total basic damage with 5% boost: 5513 (rounded).

Pusat design damage with no boosts.

16 LF4s on ship : 2400

20 LF4 on drones: 3000


Total basic damage with no boost: 5400

now there are a lot of variables not included in this like the fact that the goli has more HP. But, the fact that this design is extremely fast and in theory only has 100 damage difference in regular ammo is pretty scary.

Can someone break down how exactly Darkorbit went about balancing this new Veng design? I do not own the new design so I have no idea how low the HP on this ship is but. Just by punching in the numbers it seems it might even make the lighting design obsolete.

Yes, it made other vengies rather useless, and spearheads only good for JamX abilities.

The spearhead might be the fastest but the lighting ability counter its raw speed.
Likewise the spearhead might only have 7 lasers but it has 3 nice abilities.

I am just not understanding the thinking behind this design? Or is the hp so utterly low that it makes sense making it this fast and strong laser wise?

The Pusat vengeance Design runs as a UFE boosted 305,000 HP compared to the Goliaths 528,000 the Lightnings 400,000+.

It has the equivalent damage of a Goliath and the exact same speed of a Spearhead; yes, the pusat seems overpowered in relation to the spearhead because it can now run the same speed yet annihilate the spear with its damage BUT, the spearhead does still have the ultimate cloak, if you can EMP or get the slightest distance on the pusat you can still escape.

The spearhead was by no means ever intended for a pvp situation It is specifically a recon ship; the pusat design sort of forms a bridge between the speed and PvP factors of the game it can pull off the in-and-out situation of the spearhead whilst defending its self like a Goliath.

Keep in mind it is by no means over powered any well equipped and well known Goliath or even vengeance pilot can wipe the floor with the pusat in a pvp situation.

Pusat Base HP: 173,xxx
Pusat HP with heart: 207,xxx

 

^ That is a very good break down as far as everything I wondered (with regards to this new design).

My biggest issue with the design is the combo of speed and power. Even the Aegis with it's overpowered abilities gets only the fire power of the vengeance and the speed of a goli (which makes sense). Sure maxing at 305k hp is definitely a good counter to the ridiculous speed and damage it does. Having said that I am not sure that's really is enough when most FE have shields upwards of 300-400k (without even counting UFE pilots).

Do you happen to know if the base speed of the Pusat is lowered to balance the fact that it has 12 generators? I think I heard someone saying that on the forum.

The base speed of the pusat is that of 370 which is exactly the same as the spearhead; when maxed both have an equivalent speed of 588.

 

The base speed of the Pusat was lowered to attempt to balance the 12 gens. The same was done with the HP. As long as you are paying attention, if jumped you should be able to escape an attack, with a good speed config. If you get the jump on a player, you have a good chance with the pusat. Also, you should know that your calculations are for a Level 1 LF3, not LF4, and using level 1 drones. That said, you are still looking at great power combined with speed. Lots of players on my main server use vengies to hunt with for fire power and speed, and I mean more the lightning.

 

^ Thank you so much both for the input. I will admit that based on the info you guys gave me a Pusat attack is liveable. But there is no way a ship as fast as a spearhead and with the firepower of a goli (technicalities but you know I am right) is not overpowered. Regular vengs can be a pain but they at least did a lot less damage than this ship.

In my opinion this is quite OP.

 

when an uFe uses the pusat with full lf4s on both its ship and pet bye bye

 

they might hit hard but at the same time time they pop easy using moth formation. pusat is similar to the old vengys were it was hit and run because they cant stay to fight
