    The game started with no gates, can't remember if Alpha, Beta and Gamma came out in 2007 or 2008.

    Don't want to start a rant about GG gate part chances, but how easy was it to get parts in the old days?

    Eh that's a very good way to start one, I'm sure somebodies cynical view senses are already tingling but I found it harder to build gates pre-LF4 because since I never had much uridium to play around with, since it took longer it felt like the chances were lower.
    When it comes to gate such as Zeta, Epsilon, Kappa etc, I have never noticed a change in how hard it is to build gates, they are always within a similar range to how much the last one cost me and unlike in 2008 - 2010 I building them from scratch 90% of the time so get to see how much it costs me all in one go.

    The code used in GG emulation states, and has always done, that the chance of getting a part is 13%, however obviously people have their own opinion on it and as I discovered in past threads there is no point arguing over it, maybe people are just nostalgic of the old client and like to forget its problems and enhance everything that was okay about it.

    I really hope someone/someones doesn't turn this thread into a two-way flaming arguement. So the major gates (zeta gives Havoc, Kappa gives lf4 and Epsilon gives lf4, Herc and Apis) didn't really change while the others changed?

    Not exactly, what changed was how much uridium I had to spend and how I spent it so I saw building gates from a different perspective.
    When I had little uridium and built gates slowly I noticed no changes in how hard it was to build gates during that time period.
    When I had lots of uridium and build a gate from 0 to full I noticed no changes in how hard it was to build gates during that time period.

    All that changed was me and how I went about building gates as well as how much uridum I had. I am not saying one is more efficient than the other, just my perspective on it changed.

    If I am building a Delta over the space of 1 week, for example, it seems a lot harder to get than if I save the uridium up throughout that week and spend it all on the last day and get the gate. Then as LF-4, Havoc etc arrived getting uridium was a lot easier so that week turned into a few days, then a few days can turn into 1 day once you are UFE.

    I think the whole issue of gates being easier / harder to build is about perspective and nostalgia to make the old client exceedingly better than what it was, it was good, but not a master piece as some people will claim.

    So what u mean is that, if you simply used the daily log-in bonus energy, you had a harder time getting parts than if you had used uri?
  7. They were fairly difficult back then too considering we didn't have pally, and uri was harder to make. seeing someone with 100k was an shock to many.

    Alpha, Beta and Gamma were released in early 2009 and you had only one chance to do them, no lives and once you started you were in the gate until you finished (or died) with only the jump to the next alien type to catch your breath. Happy days.
  10. I remember playing this in GB1 during 2008 and gates were introduced during that year :).

    And one cool thing was that the spins did only cost 50 uridium at the first few months. It got changed to 100 uri in December of 2008.

  11. To see that many golis going at it now would be awesome but the battles would last 1-2 seconds instead of 30-40 like the old days....:(
  12. Yup, those were the days...especially since there wasn't any lag as-well in gates, having 1 chance in doing them, was fine.

    You must realise, that the problem is not the new game client itself, but the tons of "upgrades" (better say downgrades - for the game), that was impemented and that wouldn't be possible to run in old game client. I thing the new graphics, the new controll buttons and some game mechanics (new game client) could be very fine, if the game wasn't full of junk (as u mentioned above - EMP, palla, many new overprised & ovepowered items). Its without questions why are they here - to make more and more money from less and less ppl. Its the end of all things that happens to be popular (see in musics for example).

    Still, I'd like to know one:
    1) Is that "only" classic evolution of famous stuff?
    2) Or was it planned by BP from beginning? To make very good and user friendly game, attract very many ppl and then start to squeeze and squeeze and squeeze them (sry for flooding, I love dune and can't resist to see baron, when I write about BP :) ).
