Original Goliath Special Abilities

  1. I am sorry, my choice of word was ``poor. I only recently started to use the forum. I guess I get frustrated when sarcasm is used. :p
     
  2. How am I an idiot if I dislike an unreasonable idea? I see you just digging a deeper hole for yourself. This is ridiculous and as palafox just said, on par with vespid's ideas. Ouch.

I don't seem to be making myself clear:confused: " I'm speaking plain penguin" :) If you don't like the Warp jump , FINE :( , the point is , not to discount the idea of special abilities being added to the Goli arsenal . There are so many ways to earn these special abilities that some "brainstorming " can develop a method that is proportionately fair to both "free players and wallet warriors .

    TY for at least having an open mind. There are no absolutes hear , just ideas .

    Even though this game can be played for free , Big Point / Dark Orbit still need to "make money " And ultimately the dominant players will be the ones who spend the most money.

    TY . I never said this idea wasn't open to refinement . But it should be given some thought by the ones who have experience , The DO staff and their game developers .

    Yeah I know :rolleyes: the point was , this game changes . If I had better I T training , I probably could have become a fairly decent game developer . I was just reminiscing about the " good old days " when , if you had 8 Iris , you were like the ultimate warrior . :D I had lost my INTERNET connection for almost 2 yrs. And when I came back , a lot had changed . :eek:

If you have no control group, then the variables simply become random in a way. You have to have a basic goliath so that you can have extra designs with abilities for it.

    Just as in other forums, unnecessary posts (spam messages) which clog up the discussion are not desired. In the case of repeated spamming offenses, we reserve the right to take further action.
    If this is the rule you are referring to then I submit that my posts were necessary to respond to individual messages that I received in MY thread . And I choose to respond to them in the manner I see fit.
    However in regards to my original idea , I TY for ur opinion whether or not I agree with you . This is not a science experiment that needs a control group. And some random unexpected variables my be what this game needs to take it to the next lvl. Makes the game more interesting if you don't know ahead of time what type of offensive or defensive capabilities a ship may have. With my idea you would know what is available , not what is on board. Sorry if that thought distresses you . So you would have to equip ur ship accordingly to deal with any situation that you may encounter.
    Lastly no one said that the special abilities would be beyond counter measures or unbeatable . The specifics are something I still have to work out in order to make a more solid proposal that BP/DO staff may take into consideration . And even though I value all opinions the ones I value the most would be from DO staff and game developers who have experience with what will and will not work.
     
  9. Ah, I see where you're going now. You would prefer the unexpected when fighting people so that you never really can be prepared for a weakness. I can see how that would be fun, but the reason I was against your idea is that you are trying to give the basic goliath skills and I personally think it should stay basic. Something like this where you could get personalized abilities/skills for your ship might be pretty neat.

    As a follow up to my idea; here are some items that may be possible for basic Goli.
    1-CPU 5 with some additional spots.
    2-Hellstrom-3 , (2-3 additional barrels )
    3-Pirate map jump in and out capability
    (You could make this cost 2 or more jump credits)
    4-Death Blossom (an idea from the movie "The Last Starfighter") A 5 second burst of fire in a 360 degree rotation.
    5-Emergency Warp Jump ( yes I still like this idea):)
    Random jump which may or may not help you depending on where it jumps you to ,(within the same map ) It could plop you you deep into the radiation zone or right back in front of the player who's attacking you.:eek:
    6-Auto-defend : This is a CPU which , when activated, would automatically fire on any ship initiating an attack , without the pilot having to target ( I expect some reluctance on this idea):rolleyes: Of course xenomit and or some other fee for use would apply.
    7-Multiple targeting - This idea still needs some fine tuning . Firing on two targets at once has its complications like : is fire power weakened when distributed or will it cost more as a CPU to inflict equal damage and subsequently cost xenomit and or some other combination

    That is all I have for now . If I think of anything else I will post.
    Please try to evaluate these ideas objectively and don not get all upset if you do not like one. I expect constructive criticism. Not a bunch of cry babies . These are ideas which I am submitting for scrutiny from all players both new and veterans.
    So do not be mean or condescending . Just reply in an adult manner which I can respect. TY
     
  12. There was a thread on making an 18 slot cpu a while back and it received quite a bit of negative feedback. I personally think that you should not be able to equip everything that you want all at once. We have two configs for a reason.
    Citadels...:eek::mad: No thanks.
    Sorry, but pirate maps were made to be one-way. I don't think we should try to break that. It makes it a more difficult scenario than the regular maps.
    Would make some cool vids, but I don't see the point. Would it randomly fire lasers into space or would it hit everything around you(within range) for 5 seconds?
    I still dislike it. :p
    Aegis, diamond formation, afk in 3-4. There's a lot of issues with this one. It would be seen as autolocking and you could kill people while afk. That's kind of like a legal hack.
    I'm actually fine with that as long as the attack is split according to how many targets you're firing upon. How would selecting targets work though?

    #2- I'll concede on this idea (however not everyone can afford Citadel or other designs.)
    #3-That's why this might be nice for a special ability , because no other ship or design could do it.
    #4-Yeah , I thought it would look cool too but , maybe not practical
    #5-I stand by this idea firmly.
    #6-After giving this some thought I decided that "auto locking" would not be active when ship is idle for more than five seconds . I disagree with the "legal hack" premise because even if it was active when a ship was idle an attacker has the option to back away so as to not get killed .
    #7-Multiple targeting would be governed by a CPU which , when activated , would allow you to select multiple targets. However , after some thought , this idea may be more suited when doing quests or hunting NPC's . Fire power would have to be reduced or divided equally according to how many targets were allowed to be selected . And this might not be practical if trying to fend off an attacking group of enemy players ,(unless you had a very powerful ship)
    I have enjoyed the opportunity to be able to post these ideas and receive and respond to feedback. These ideas may never be developed but , if any of them are , remember , You saw it here first:D

  17. Jump warp is called 'running into the radation zone' and two standard evasive tactics and then pop out - log off and then switch ships in your garage in/on another map. All this can be done in the regular goli designs works very well - if you know how.
