at the moment if you want to overbid somebody you have to bid 10,000 credits more then them... Thus all you see is people overbidding each other every hour by that ammount...
How about if you want to overbid someone you have to overbid them by 10% of what they bid. So for example if someone bid 100.000.000 on a cloack CPU you had to bid 10 million more then them in order to overbid them and not the normal 10.000 credits.

  2. Yeah, that's not a bad idea.
When someone bid 10k more than you and you lose the auction sometime you want to cry ;)

Someone bids 10,000 on something. The new bid would be 20,000 if you were to outbid. If you take 10% for the original 10,000. That would be 1,000. 20,000 < 11,000. You would be surprised how many items are won for simply 10,000.

Sounds good to me. Would make bids more interesting than people just waiting to click the bid button at last second.

  6. Nah cos clearly they want the item that 10k bit more than you and so they're willing to bid that bit more... if you want it more than them outbid yourself by 10k and you'll have it ;)

    Otherwise just bid much more

fine how about this. Your bid needs to be 10% higher then the bid of the highest bidder and at least 10,000 credits higher. Nothing below 10,000 credits.

If people keep overbidding each other for the entire hour by mostly 10,000 credits the price of the item stays almost the same. Now if someone has to bid instead of 100 million 110 million and the person after that would need to bid 121 million. People might have to think wheter or not it's actually worth outbidding the person anymore.

    I like the idea.
Only one problem. If an awkward amount is placed for a bid. The next bidder will have to do the math to overbid them.
Say an item was going for 123,456,789 credits. It would take longer than a mere 10 seconds to figure out 110% of that is 135,802,468 ... you see my point?

if you press on an item someone has placed a bid, the ammount above the 'bid' button is automatically 10,000 credits higher (which is the minimum you can bid). In my idea the ammount should change as well to the minimum you can bid. Which is either 10% more or if the ammount is below 100,000 credits, 10,000 credits.

10k increments is fine, if you're worried about losing a 100 mil bid by 10k simply bid an extra 10k at the end.
If your too lazy to watch the last 5 mins of an auction to ensure you don't get outbid by 10k - wait another hour and bid again.

Being patient and NOT getting into bidding wars, I picked up my last iris for 2.1mil, I got spearhead elite for 90mil (normally goes for over 200).

It is an auction, patients and timing is the key. If you find you are constantly being outbid, try bidding at a different time when not so many people are bidding.

If DO changed it to minimum 10% bids, what do you think the preset "BID" would be set at??
Obviously it would be set to 10%, instead of 10K - How would that be any different (aside from it costing more each bid) to how it is now?

  12. yep i know that feeling LOL. it used to be that you couldn't see the bid so if someone who didn't like me bid 1 billion credits on something just to prevent me from getting it, I would laugh my ass off because I only bid the minimum :D

    Good idea.
Right now the safe way to win the auction is by reloading the page 10 seconds before the end of the auction and press the bid button. There is almost no point in placing a bid before unless it is really high.
Right now the auctions are won by the player placing the last bid. If you have to overbid the currently highest bid by 10% or 20% this "ninja-bidding" towards the end of the auction would stop.

  14. Yeah, sometimes you see 1billion for a cloak cpu :D

  15. well it should be set on 100% more, auto bid. if someone put lets say 100 mil cr on cloak cpu and then someone else come in last sec and press bid it should take 200mil from him. of course there is option to put your own numbers and overbid with 10k cr more.
or they should remove that auto add up on curent bid, and make ppl to tipe numbers on their own.

  16. making the overbid an automatic 10% increase might discourage counterbids but a lot of the nosebleed bidding comes from UFEs and wallet warriors for whom credits come cheap. The 10% auto increase only lets them get an advantage for overbidding.
Saw someone bid 77 million on the 10 cloak and he had three other items all at 77 million at the same time. He was bidding to win. No shame in that if you got the credits.
DO is all about the money players. Us credit nubs have no voice here.

That idea is well and truly a good one.

  18. i hear a lot of complaining about being overbid, ?,Y,it is an AUCTION.
You cant lock your bid in and say it aint fair you overbid me.????
What u should do is if you are trying to work the auction, is pay attention and find your refresh button.
Also i read an earlier post about going on at different times to bid, thats another strategy, that really does work, ive gotten up 2hours b4 work to sit through auction for 2 hrs to pick up equipment i needed thats how it works you have to get lucky and hope the other bidder/s arent paying attention or bid more at the last min. The only ? is who wants it more?

P.S. with a 10% increase in price with every bid on an item can you imagine what some of the prices would be for idk say a bo2 "congratulations your bid of 800,000,000 for the bo2 shield generator just won.:{/"

OH yeah and now DO gives your credits BACK on a lost bid, quit crying

half the things you say at the beginning are pure assumptions I can't find anywhere in the comments.
I don't know when you started playing the game but for the last couple of years the average bid on every item has stayed the same. There are those who put 5 times the credits they would have needed to win the bid and there's those who get some items really cheap. But the average bids have stayed the same. 800.000.000 credits on a bo2... yeah right, I'm impressed when I see someone put more then 10 million on a bo2.

Nobody outbids anyone with pennies in a real auction. 10,000 credits are pennies.

This is my idea, you say I'm crying? I enjoy the argumentation about this topic and all comments are welcome wheter you support the idea or not. As long as people state facts and give a motivation to their feelings about my idea I'm more then happy to have people comment.

  20. In current system if you have bid for example 56m just increase your bid to like 58m in the last seconds. No one will beat your bid since they are only bidding 56m+10k.

I don't see any harm in the 10k system. Prices would rise with that 10% thing.
