Pet Configs and setups: Suggestions for me?

I just got my pet and I wanted to know what protocols and gears to save up for and specifically what levels. Thanks

 

It depends on what you want from your pet, only get level 3 gears and protocols though, they can be purchased when your pet reaches level 8.

 

Ok, I plan to use mine in gates and pvp, so I was thinking kami and the ship repair gear.

 

Ship repair is useful and can help in some situations but after the recent update allowing you to repair while moving it's questionable as to whether it's worth the uri since there is also a cost to using it. I mean you have to be not taking damage to use the gear by which time you should be repairing via the rep bot anyway.

Kami is very useful for doing gates. Entire waves can be dealt with just using kami but again, there is a cost attached to rep the pet unless you are premium but I'm sure you know that.

As mentioned, wait until your pet is level 8 before you buy level 3 gears and protocols. Don't bother with fuel protocols as they are questionably advertised as saving fuel yet they increase fuel usage rendering the saving practically obsolete.

Autolooter can be useful but since they "improved" the AI for that gear it will cause you more frustration than it's worth at times if you are using it to collect bonus boxes. It's better in gates where there is just 1 cargo box at a time to collect.

Cargo trader can also help you make credits if that's what you want since you can collect and sell all the cargo in the gates without having to jump out or refine.

If using pet for pvp then the kami is less useful on a moving target since the pet bugs out if the target moves once kami has been initiated. The damage protocols (not the ones for npcs) can help improve the laser damage from the pet so they might be worth getting for pvp.
