PET locator gear...worth it?

    Does the PET locator gear work pretty well? And how many radars to make it effective?

    Which locator, seeing as there's more than one, for the PET.
    The Enemy Locator or Resource Locator?

    Sorry, forgot to clarify; I meant the enemy locator gear. And does it let you pick from a list of NPC's depending on which map you're on?

    The higher the locator level and the more radars you have expand the range that the locator will pick up enemies. And yes, you will have a list of aliens to pick from, it will only list aliens that are available on the map you are in.

    Hello veritas

    Thank you all for assisting with this thread.

    The Enemy locator (level 3) with the combination of Radar protocol (level 3) is quite effective, more radar protocols better it gets for locating. I would say at least 4 radar protocols is needed for better range in locating aliens.

    Do you (the original poster) have any further questions or can we close?

    Yes, enemy locator is worth the uri ; especially during events such as icy's where the npc's respawn at an unknown location.
    Yes, it lets you choose which npc's it finds, you get a selection of npc's, depending on what mao you're on.
    And i'd advise you on buying the level 3 Enemy locator, don't bother with the other two. They're completely useless due to their range.
    Oh and it'd be wise to have a few radar protocals on, to extend it's range. :)

    Thanks everybody. I went ahead and got it (lvl 3), and it is great. Good advice. Won't use it often (bit more of a uri-drain setup than I usually put on my PET), but I had some hard-to-track alien quests and it helped immensely. And as Warrior mentioned, there are always special events I know I'll be glad to have it for.

    Already had a full complement of radars for palli and experimented - in regular maps just a few will do, I think. Did a couple uber quests and loaded them all on - it was still a pain, lol, but it would have taken _forever_ without.
