  1. Hello pilots,

Lately I have been working on developing my Goliath with some drone formations and definitely had hard time on developing my skill tree. I have 23 PP at the moment, first defensive line is maxed except Evasive maneuvers II (0/3), and I have 1 PP into Heat-Seeking Missiles (1/5 , I won't lie, I wanted the look of the rockets :p).

What I wanted is advice whether should I continue with taking 3PP for Evasive maneuvers? Is it worth it, I mean, is there any difference? And how does this skill affect PvP and PvE module? Cause I mostly hunt NPC, so if it is useless I can focus on something else.

If it is useless, on what should I focus next? :) That Rocket fusion draw my attention lately. How does this works out? :)

Or, maybe both don't work good? :) I really need advice from more experienced players now, cause it comes into spending too much uridium, and I don't want to waste any of that. :)

    Regards,

  2. I think you kinda answered your own question. You said you are not into pvp and rather be involved with npc hunting. Evasive really doesnt help much. since you are into npcs, you might want to invest in npc points instead.

  3. Did I really? :D I guess no, seriously. I was just asking if those 2 things work and how much if so. :) I really don't know if I should invest on them or not.

  4. "And how does this skill affect PvP and PvE module? Cause I mostly hunt NPC," the evasion is for PVP from what I gather.

  5. So, that means you won't evade NPC's when attacking you? How comes that? Evading is evading according to me, no matter what hits you. Or maybe it's not the way DO had imagined and made it?

  6. I'm pretty sure it only works for enemies, but it is still worth having before rocket fusion, since you can escape to port from farther out if you are caught farming. You may want to think about resetting your bio, since maxing out ship repair is not as necessary imo. You could allocate the 5 pilot points in repair for evasive maneuvers and the first 3 of rocket fusion :D.

  7. I still find it really useful that ship repair especially cause I am in Goliath, that fast repairs help me uppers. Maybe if I was in Aegis, I would not need it. By the way, I am still not sure about the Aegis. I hear people say it is awesome for things I like (hunting NPC), but still not sure as it is huge investment (with design, of course).

So, I had almost the same thoughts as you for Evasive maneuvers, at least it can help me get away in case I am caught in the middle of nowhere :) Thank you for the reply.

I wouldn't invest in evasion-3 yet. Reason is that NPCs can be destroyed easily and with little movement and skill you could avoid most of the NPCs attacks.

Personally I would aim for electro-optics and alien hunter. They help loads with NPC bashing.

If you're into pallying for gate spins I would reset the bio and spend the points on cargo expansion.
If you spend some points of shield engineering and shield mechanics (whilst aiming for electro-optics and alien hunter of course), they will mean you have more shield and most attacks against you will go towards shield. Therefore your HP will stay high even after fighting a few NPCs. Therefore you won't require extra time to repair your ship.

    A few misc things:
If you have heart formation, it'll help if you want to regenerate your shield and HP quicker. HP boosters and Repair boosters are also worth investing in. (usually go for about 3-5 million credits on my server).
Also I wouldn't recommend aegis for NPC bashing. It's good because of it's repair skill but it will reduce your damage (10 lasers on ship). It tends to make users 'carefree'. If one time you switch to goliath again, you might have a false sense of security once in a while.

  9. I am pretty impressed with what you have written, and I must say thank you!

What you told me about the Aegis there, is what I mainly feared the most. I just don't want to loose the sense I have built in the Goliath so much. What worried me a bit is about Galaxy gates, there are plenty posts around that say Goliath can't handle most of them (you know, if talk about FE Goliaths - I belong here, not UFEs). Never mind, I got off-topic.

Yes, I have Heart and Diamond formations. I have to say, I really do enjoy both of them, especially the Diamond for hunting NPC around. Keeps my shield up all the time, which is what I love actually.

Now, about Electro-optics and Allien Hunter - thank you for your advice. I thought about Rocket fusion too, but it's hell bunch of log disks to do that. :) I guess I will need some good amount of time. :)

Have you got 5/5 in shield mechanics? If so I would drop the need for more bio.

Work towards getting an Aegis, I know it's been mentioned already and in a negative light but for your situation it is much better than a Goliath - you are going to be doing a lot of grinding to get good equipment, might as well make it as easy on yourself as you can.
When you have that Aegis start building Zeta gates and keep doing them until you have 10 Havoc, it will take time but in the process you will get lots of keys and build up your bio, your doing 3 things all at once. From there you use keys on Zeus / Apis days to get your extra drones then on LF4 days to get your lasers and killing NPC just becomes easier and quicker.

  11. Yup, I have shield mechanics 5/5. I have everything in the first defensive line maxed, except Evasive maneuvers II (0/3).

For Zeta, is spending 150k uridium to build it worth? I mean, everyone builds that gate with uridium, or is boxing out energy (or trading palladium)?

    Thank you for your advices.

For gates first you should not spend uri , so with gg .. so best with palla . Boxes give uri + a little bonus of gg if you don't have box doubler and a full equiped pet . In my opinion best ways to advance are palla ( if 5-3 it isn't full of UFE n..s) + LOW ( if it is working for you ) .

  13. About 5-3 I am not sure if it will be working for me, but LoW is definitely working for me. :) Mixed with some boxing, as I usually do, will do the job.
